ladywriter:Hi again Ladywriter, could you please give me your opinion on what I earlier asked...? Cheers. "Please what do you recommend as the least acceptable price for a 10,000 to 15,000 book? I know all books cannot be priced the same and every client is different but what should one use as a guideline? I want a minimum amount to bear in mind when negotiating with any client. Thank you." |
emmygzy:Usually I am an open minded person who is very willing to help but honestly speaking, I just want to be on my own. I really applaud Ladywriter for managing the two threads she created for Freelancer. I try to go through her threads whenever I can and we Nigerians are so impossible. We relish premature success and instant gratification. Anything short of that it unacceptable in our little minds. People have the effrontery to come there and expect quick fixes to their bank accounts. Majority of us do not want to work for anything. I once read where a lady had written about two or three articles for I think $2 each and after being paid, she came to the thread complaining about how the pay was small and the work was "too hard". What the heck? I was paid 50 cents for about 2 or 3 articles 500 words long when I started on Freelancer a two months ago but I knew it was not going to be easy. The next set was about four articles which were about 2,000 words long at $2 each. The employer withheld payment for almost a month. I continued emailing and dropping chat messages with him and kept on bidding till God started opening doors for me. Today, he dare not ask me to write for him because he has shot himself in the foot by underpaying me from the start. Till now, I do not allow price or back breaking work put me off. I can write a 10,000 word book for $160 and I can write a 6,000 word book for $30. The intensity of the research I have to do for the book determines the price. For example, because of bible knowledge, it usually takes me about 48 hours to write a Christian book. But if I am writing on something like Minimalism, it will need more research. Regardless of pricing, I cannot stay idle because the price I am going to be paid on a project is not up to four figures. I am currently working on two book projects simultaneously worth $1, 550. And yesterday, another client who I had worked for engaged me for a $60 project. I could have quickly turned him down because after being paid four figures, 'he is not my level again' but I negotiated with him so I can start his project when the ones I am working on finish. At least $60 can take care of my internet broadband. What am I going on about? Is it simply because you asked me to help? Well, I just want to explain that a couple of times I have tried it, people are not willing to put effort so I find it very hard investing my time 'helping'. You research and simplify the project for them and sometimes create the outline. You make out time to edit the work to international standard when they finish. Yet they will start complaining the price is too small or the work is too much when even from the quality of the emails they send you, you know they cannot deliver. They will not construct their sentences well, cross their 't's, dot their 'i's, use 'Am' instead of 'I'm', use 'cos' instead of 'because', use 'u' instead' of 'you'. When you tell them to send work samples, they will just copy anything in full from the internet and paste it then send it to you thinking they are smart. I have just resolved to do as much work as I can and take responsibility for any criticisms my work gets from clients. If you have any questions, please ask it on this thread, if I am less busy, I will make out time and reply. |
ladywriter:, Please what do you recommend as the least acceptable price for a 10,000 to 15,000 book? I know all books cannot be priced the same and every client is different but what should one use as a guideline? I want a minimum amount to bear in mind when negotiating with any client. Thank you. |
ladywriter:Thank you my dear. I will do just that. Thanks for the advise on reviews. So far, only two employers have not left reviews for me and I thank God, I now know that I have to request for it once the work is completed. |
ladywriter:Morning Ladywriter, Please could you give me advice on the best thing to do with unused bids? By His grace, my hands are full with work this month and I have no need to bid for any more projects. Is it best I use them up bidding or do I just ignore them? It seems extra credit is earned on every bid but I 'think' you actually have an option to buy back unused bids and if this is true, I don't want to waste my time logging on to exhaust my bids. Cheers. |
consultancy:You are saying that because you haven't read that there is fake egg, meat, walnut, etc in China. Read this : https://www.nairaland.com/2608751/fake-eggs-huge-problem-china |
mymadam:No be small tin o! |
Eggs are another kind of food that the Chinese have successfully counterfeited. These eggs are unusually larger and rougher on the surface. When they are broken, there is no sign of chalazae i.e. the liquid that holds the egg yolk together. The yolk quickly mixes with the egg white when broken and the fake egg yolk is deeper yellow in color. These eggs are chemically manufactured and highly toxic to consume. While the shell is made of calcium carbonate, the inside is made of allum, gelatin, calcium chloride and other chemicals plus water and food coloring. Ingesting calcium chloride from these fake eggs can cause liver disease while benzoic acid can be harmful to the brain and nerve cells At the stage the stage the chinese are going, the earlier we bann everything China made and start breeding our own chickens, the better for us all Read more about fake China eggs in this Time Magazine article: http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/11/06/how-to-make-a-rotten-egg/ Read more about fake Chinese rice on this Nairaland post: https://www.nairaland.com/2608584/china-now-makes-sells-fake Investigation of fake eggs in China. by FujiTV |
Nigerians love everything foreign. Foreign degrees, foreign wives and husbands, foreign shoes, bags and clothes down to foreign chicken, fish, tomatoes and rice. First there were artificial eggs from China and now plastic rice said to be exported to several Asian nations. Social media platforms such as WhatsApp and Facebook have been circulating the news of the fake rice that has now believed to have entered Singapore. Plastic rice sold on the Chinese market has reportedly found its way into various Asian countries, including India, Indonesia and Vietnam. Consumers say that such rice is also found in many prominent brands. Many reported to have caused gastritis and other stomach related diseases after its consumption. Consumers say that these kind of rice is undetectable because its comes mixed with normal rice packs. Health experts have warned that consuming such fake grains, laced with poisonous resin, could seriously damage the digestive system. The fake rice is made by mixing potatoes, sweet potatoes and synthetic resin, according to the International Business Times. It’s long been circulating on the market in Taiyuan, Shaanxi and appears identical to natural rice. The Malaysian Agriculture and Agro-based Industry Ministry likewise denied receiving any reports about the resin-laced grains, but said if it were to have gotten into Malaysia, it would most likely be sold at small shops rather than large supermarkets. So how can you avoid consuming plastic-tainted rice? Plastic rice made by mixing potatoes, sweet potatoes and Chinese polymer is similar to natural rice and can hardly be differentiated by mere look. However, when cooked, the rice remains hard and soup made by it forms a plastic sheath, which burns like plastics when burned. I will just advice everyone to buy from our own local Nigerian farmers! Period! Beware that China is now making FAKE PLASTIC RICE. biobash:I have seen your email invite and I am sorry but I will not be needing any writers anymore. After my experiences in the last 24 hours, I have decided to stick to what I can do and take up only the work I can get done by myself. Cheers. |
biobash:No problem. DO you have a profile on Freelancer.com? Or you want to work independently? |
Vixo:Cheers, Will email you shortly. Check and respond to an email with the header 'Re: Law Of Attraction Project' Modify your post and delete your email from this forum to avoid spam mail. |
DeCritique:Please check your inbox or spam for a message with the heading 'Re: RESEARCH 100 (ONE HUNDRED) PLANTS' |
DeCritique:Hi again DeCritique..., Its not easy to say this but I am very, very sorry. I thought you were Neduzze5 when I said I was going to write you. I just came back to copy your email now and realized it was your reply and not his that I responded to. I need his agric skills to complete a project I am working on now. No vex biko. Can I contact you once another project comes through...? I slowed down on bidding because I my hands were full but since I can see that there are a lot of good candidates like you here, I will continue and sublet parts of my projects out. |

Okay. I will contact you shortly. Sorry about the hitch you experienced. |
Vixo:Great answer! I totally agree with your argument. I have looked at your Freelancer profile. There is a project I will subcontract to you before the day runs out. I need you to write me 20 pages on how Jesus taught His followers the Law of Attraction and The Bible still teaches the law of attraction through scripture everyday. We just have to have faith and what we want has to be in God's will for us. You already have your own opinion but you will have to tilt it towards a christian perspective and moderately speak for (not against) the law. Font: 'Times New Roman' Font Size: '14px' Paragraph (line) spacing: '1.5' This means each page will have approximately 250 words. You can start building an authentic table of contents and when you are done, initiate an email with me. I am trying to round up a project now but I will make contact with you between 8-9pm this evening to negotiate pay. Do your homework and check the going rate per 1000 words on Freelancer. Cheers. Speak with you later. |
Vixo:Good. Is it inline with Christian teachings or not? |
Vixo:Hello Vixo, Have you read any book on the Law of Attraction? Have you read the book or watched 'The Secret' by Rhonda Byrne? Do you believe it has references in any christian scripture? Are you able to give me two or three verses from the Bible right here which can validate or invalidate the teachings of the Law of Attraction? I'm waiting for your response. It will determine whether I will sublease one of my projects due in four days to you. Cheers. |
Neduzze5:Are you on Freelancer? Or you want to work privately with me. This is business. He has not replied and I have no time to waste. |
Sexologist:Hi, How long can it take you to research 100 (one hundred) plants and give me the: a) botanical name of the plant (where unavailable) b) the origin of the plant b) countries they grow c) In what ways they can be cooked and eaten as food d) nutritional content e) website link of the page you researched I already have a list of the plants I want you to research and I need a minimum of four sentences and a maximum of 6 sentences for each plant. Example: 'MINER’S LETTUCE (CLAYTONIA PERFOLIATA): As the name suggests, they are a perfect alternative to lettuce and they grow in large quantities in the wild. Miner’s lettuce is thought to be originally from Europe but they are available in United States, South America and United Kingdom. It’s large, tender and crunchy leaves have a mild taste and are rich in nutrition. They contain vitamin C, A, and iron . They are used in salads, wraps and sandwiches.' Reference website link: www.seriouseats.com/.../seriously-asian-stir-fried-burdock-root-kinpira-p... You can research 'BURDOCK (ARCTIUM)' and write a sample for me. Use it to estimate how long it will take you to do a minimum of 50 and a maximum of 100 then get back to me asap. Please be realistic about how long it will take you. Cheers. |
tranxo:Very vaild point. I had a situation where an Indian employer set a $10 milestone for a $15 project and was telling me to go ahead and write that money was not the problem. I knew he was trying to outsmart me but I twisted his arm by insisting that he should set a milestone for the full value of the project before I accept the offer and commence work. After a loooooonnnnnggggg silence (probably weighing the quality of my work and not finding suitable writers), he agreed. I surprised him by delivering the 3-day project in 24 hours. (if im tink say e be Indiya, me i be naija babe. I dey shine my eye well well for all dis Indiya pipo even if na one dollar work i dey do for dem. though now I sabi say any employer fit trick u regardless of weda im be indiya or not) |
geobukky:This kind of job is called a 'CAPTCHA ENTRY JOB'. It is a scam and illegal under Freelancer's terms and conditions. Ignore them and click the 'Report Project' link below the project description and report it as illegal. Freelancer will reward you with a badge (see photo below) and close the project. It has happened to me two or three times.

ladywriter:Hi Ladywriter, Just to give you an update on this issue. After waiting 48 hours and not getting a response from the woman, I discussed the issue with Freelancer customer service. They said they could send the employer a cancellation request on my behalf but there are two things that could happen; a) If she goes ahead and cancels the project within 7 days, it will affect my rating. b) If she ignores their notification, after 7 days, I can notify them and they will cancel the request but it wont affect my rating. I weighed both options CAREFULLY, then put my trust in God then asked them to go ahead. The 7-day notice ended yesterday. I just contacted them now and they cancelled the notice and told me "The project is now cancelled and your Completion Rate is still 100%." I give God the glory. I'm sure someone can learn from this experience on what to do when faced with such a situation. NB I am about signing my first $1,000 project very soon. I've discussed extensively with the client and I will let you know when it happens. God bless. |
tranxo:Kindly read the first part of the story again. I had 'ALREADY ACCEPTED THE OFFER' before we had that disagreement. If I had not, I would not need to apologise. By already accepting the offer, a contract is already 'technically' in place so she can rate me very poorly and at this initial stage on the site, I cannot afford to do anything that will make my ratings drop so I am in a fix. That was why ladywriter started her response with a 'Hmmmh!' because she understands the degree to which I had committed myself before the employer's tone changed. I am the one at a disadvantage not the employer. It is not time to be arrogant and defend my rights. It is a reputation management situation and I am an individual not a multi national corporation like Coca Cola that can afford not to beg. In some cases, it is wiser to appear weak and cowardly than to appear puffed up and arrogant like a know-it-all and loose the battle. I assure you, I know I did not do anything wrong but this is not a 'claim my right' situation. |
ladywriter:Thank you so much my sister and mentor. I will just research the topic of the book and create an outline then send it to her and wait to see if she corresponds before I start major work. They live in advanced societies where a couple of a hundred dollars or more means nothing. I am at the receiving end if I invest my electricity, gen fuel, and internet data that doesn't come cheap into a project and I do not get paid. And because a lot of them have been conditioned under the affluence of the world they live in, they can be very unforgiving. That's probably why she cannot genuinely accept that I misunderstood her. God has several more projects lined up for me so if this one does not go through, I will still praise Him for showing me the handwriting on the wall. I don't think I will do even a $10 job for anyone on that site without setting up milestones. It took several days of persistent harassment before the one that was owing me finally gave up and paid. And it was $8 but this one is a $177 project. I don't want to go through that embarrassing and frustrating situation ever again. Cheers! |
ladywriter:My sister, I don't have a problem continuing with the work. It's just that the tone with which she literally 'told me off' I feel that she might suddenly cancel it or grudge me and not rate the work well when I finish. Can I ask you something? You said that the ideal thing is to let your employer set the milestone. Does that mean you yourself will not work for an employer who refuses to set milestone..? |
Hello ladywriter and other nairalanders that work on Freelancer.com, Please help me out by giving me your opinion about something. Is there anytime ever you will consider working for an employer without a milestone request? An employer from Australia contacted me about writing a 65 page eBook for her. I wanted to set three milestones and she refused saying she would pay me upon full completion of work. I agreed and told her I would set one milestone instead which I will request for after we conclude the project. She probably did not understand me because as soon as I accepted her offer, she said she would rescind because I set a milestone payment. I have sent her an apology via email but I am yet to get any reply. My understanding is that the payment for the project leaves the employer's account and is kept with Freelancer. I probably think she believes she is paying me in full for the project before I even complete it. She has no reviews so I believe she is new on the site. Please, what is your take on this? Should one keep sentiments aside on every project or should one thread with caution on every single project? Would love to hear from you on this. Cheers. |
mercyland2015:Hi dear, I used a clear, good quality black and white passport photo of myself. |
Hi Hephzy, (ladywriter) Good morning. I just wanted to inform you and encourage others on this thread. To the glory of the Most High God, this is my second week on Freelancer and two things happened this morning. 1) I just closed a $20 project for a one page document on facial treatments 2) I won the bid for another $166 creative writing eBook project this morning on Freelancer! It is amazing! I have prayed and told God I will take Freelancer seriously and let Him bless the works of my hand. I even fasted before you put up this post and it was like you were the answer to my prayers. From looking at your own profile and reading your two eBooks (on article and eBook writing), I wrote a sample eBook on Health Benefits Of Tomatoes and added it to my profile. I also looked at the profile of a couple of freelancers who were winning projects consistently and tweaked my own profile. Then I started bidding on eBook projects. One eBook client with a £271 (about $430) project has contacted me to edit a 100 word paragraph and I her gotten back to her. By His grace, she will approve my bid for her project. I made a mistake on my second project. The client is owing me $8 for writing a total of four 1000 word articles. I was ignorant and did not understand how to set milestones. He capitalized on this and took advantage of me. He has not returned my emails. But I got wise like a serpent and read your previous thread:https://www.nairaland.com/1833989/how-make-1000-month-writing. Now, all my subsequent projects are negotiated with milestones. Please, if you decide to work online, be persistent and excellent on your work ethics. Never do lousy, mediocre work and expect full rewards. But never also leave the God factor. And when you earn income, distribute to the orphans, widows and the helpless around you without expecting any reward. Earning an income on Freelancer is REAL. I have to get to work now. I have a very busy day! ![]()

The story is FAKE! The video being circulated is that of a man who died of an apparent suicide on a Saturday afternoon after jumping off a 25th-floor balcony of the Embassy Suites Hotel in Center City, Philadelphia police officials said Monday. Police declined to identify the individual but said he was a 37-year-old white male. It is not a Ghanian Lady. He did not leave a note and was pronounced dead at the scene at 3:23 p.m., just 12 minutes after the incident was first reported, police said. Management at the hotel at 1776 Benjamin Franklin Parkway did not immediately respond to a request for comment Monday. Read more at http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=4f9_1430843012#XDvdkhE9HMzfQlq5.99 |
