Business / CBN Freezes 3 Accounts Over Digital Currency Trading by Juanvi(m): 8:44am On Nov 12, 2021
Nigeria’s central bank has frozen the accounts of two individuals and one company that it claims has been allegedly engaging in digital currency trading. The bank claimed that this violated a circular it published in February against Bitcoin trading.

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) issued a ’Post-No-Debit’ circular last week to all commercial banks to shut down accounts of the three entities, the local outlet People’s Gazette reports.

“You are hereby directed to close accounts of the underlisted bank customers and place the funds in the accounts in suspense accounts for engaging in cryptocurrency trading in contravention of CBN Circular BSD/DIR/PUB/014/001 dated February 5, 2021.”

The accounts belong to a firm called TVS Hallmark Service Limited and two individuals—Nwaorgu Kingsley Chibuzor and Nnamdi Francis Okereke. The CBN’s circular was signed by its Director of Banking Supervision J. Y. Mammanand.

In its circular, the central bank referenced a February order in which it directed all banks to shut down accounts used in any digital currency transactions. The February circular specifically urged all financial institutions to “identify persons and/or entities transacting in or operating cryptocurrency exchanges within their systems and ensure that such accounts are closed immediately.”

At the time, Nigeria was witnessing nationwide protests against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), which had been accused of unleashing violence against young Nigerians and even killing quite a number of residents for minor offenses. It was alleged that as CBN banned all banking channels to the leaders of the protests, some turned to digital currencies to raise funds for the movement. At the time of writing, it’s not clear how much money was raised through this channel, but it was enough to get the CBN concerned. SARS was eventually disbanded due to the pressure from the protests.

The fresh ban for the three entities comes at a time when digital currency trading in Nigeria is soaring. The West African country leads the continent in trading volume and is one of the biggest P2P markets globally.

Nigeria also launched its eNaira recently, becoming the first country in Africa to have its own CBDC.

Politics / Tordue Henry Salem: Missing Vanguard Reporter Found Dead In Abuja by Juanvi(m): 11:06pm On Nov 11, 2021
Vanguard missing reporter, Tordue Henry Salem, has been found dead in Abuja.

Details of the circumstances surrounding the recovery of his remains were still sketchy as at 9.30 pm, Thursday.

Late Salem who was covering the House of Representatives, was last seen on October 13, 2021. After the close of work that day, he was said to have alighted from a cab at Total filling station, close to the Force headquarters, and headed for B.J’s garden, in the company of a female relative.

Thereafter, he reportedly flagged a cab for the lady who left before him, informing her that he was going to Area 8, Garki. But he was never seen until his remains were recovered on Thursday.

An alarm on his mysterious disappearance was raised the next day, from where the matter was directed to the Intelligence Response Team , IRT on October 16, 2021.

Arrest

Some arrests were reportedly made. Among them was that of a man who was picked for attempting to extort Salem’s family.

The suspect identified as Prince Enyenihi, 25, contacted Mrs Salem on October 26, 2021, via a text message with a concealed number, requesting for N100 million ransom, to be paid as ransom for her husband’s release. Part of the text message read: “if you don’t pay, Tordue will be killed in seven days. For more information, call this number …. The text message also contained an account number the money should be paid into.

This was followed by a call with a concealed number to Salem’s wife the next day,. Mrs Salem requested to speak with her husband, to ascertain he was alive before negotiation would begn. But the caller gave the phone to someone who tried to play along.

When she noticed that the voice did not sound like her husband’s, she asked the stranger to mention the name of their daughter and her birth date, a question that met dead silence at the other end.

Same evening, another call with a concealed number was received by Mrs Salem, requesting to know if her husband had been released. The confused woman was said to have requested why the caller had his number concealed.

On October 27, another text me came on a bulk text message platform, ordering the family to pay the N100 million ransom before the next day, failure of which they would kill Salem.

The Police swung into action first, by de-encrypting the number that called and traced its owner to a lady in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

However, during interrogation the lady who owns Joy Skin Care denied culpability, stating rather, that a particular number had been calling her line since October 26, 2021.

Vanguard further gathered that when on further checks operatives discovered that the number was same with that used to contact Mrs Salem , consequent upon which 25-year-old Enyenihi was arrested on November 5, 2021.

During preliminary investigation, it was discovered that he was next door neighbor to the beautician. During interrogation, he disclosed that he got information of Vanguard reporter’s disappearance on a flyer that went viral on social media, which had the number of Mrs Salem as the contact person to report to if found.

The suspect further stated that he sent the text messages without the knowledge of his female neighbour, adding that he got his neighbour’s telephone number and account details from her Facebook page .

He said, “I knew the family wouldn’t pay the money. I used the owner of Joy beauty skin care ‘s account details in order to punish her for always talking to me anyhow”.

The Police described the arrest as a distraction from what they were looking for.

Efforts to reach thre Force Public Relation’s Officer failed.

Investment / Airtel NG Secures Approval To Launch A Payment Service Bank In Nigeria by Juanvi(m): 2:04pm On Nov 05, 2021
Just like its major rival in the Nigerian market, Airtel Africa Plc has announced that it has obtained an approval-in-principle to launch its payment service arm in Nigeria, known as SMARTCASH Payment Service Bank Limited.

According to a statement signed by the Group’s Secretary, Simon O’Hara and filed with the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), the final approval is subject to the firm satisfying certain standard conditions within six months.

Recall that MTN Nigeria had announced that it obtained an approval-in-principle from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to launch its proposed MoMo Payment Service Bank.
What they are saying

Excerpts of the recent press statement issued by the telecommunications giant reads: ‘’Airtel Africa, a leading provider of telecommunications and mobile money services, with a presence in 14 countries across Africa, today announces that its subsidiary SMARTCASH Payment Service Bank Limited (“Smartcash”) has been granted approval in principle to operate a payment service bank business in Nigeria.

‘’Final approval is subject to the Group satisfying certain standard conditions within six months.’’

Commenting on the recent development, the CEO of Airtel Africa Plc, Segun Ogunsanya, said: ‘’I am very pleased that Smartcash has been granted an approval in principle to operate a service bank business in Nigeria.

“We will now work closely with the Central Bank to meet all its conditions to receive the operating licence and commence operations. The final operating licence will enable us to expand our digital financial products and reach the millions of Nigerians that do not have access to traditional financial services.

“I am looking forward to working closely with the Government, the Central Bank and traditional financial institutions to expand financial inclusion and meet the evolving needs of our customers and the economy.“

Recall that Airtel Africa recently announced that it is exploring potential IPO for its mobile money business in less than 4 years. The firm made the disclosure during its recently concluded investors’ presentation for its half-year result ending September 2021.
Why this matters

It is expected that the entrance of these two major telecommunications companies into the Nigerian financial services landscape will help heighten competition and drive a more inclusive financial system, offering options for a wide range of financial services to both the unbanked, under-banked and banked populations in Nigeria.

Crime / Nigeria Soldier To Die By Lethal Injection For Criminal Conspiracy And Armed Rob by Juanvi(m): 1:55pm On Nov 05, 2021
A soldier, Dompa Hyellablani, has been sentenced to death by hanging or by lethal injection for car-snatching.

Hyellablani, a Private, whose Force number is 13NA/70/6142 and who served at 351 Artillery in Monguno, Borno State, was convicted by a court in Yola, Adamawa State, on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

Hon Justice Kanyson Lawanson of Yola High Court slammed the death sentence on Hyellablani but acquitted a 19-year-old applicant, Emmanuel Adeka’a, who was arraigned alongside the soldier on the same charges.

According to the prosecution, Dompa and Emmanuel had on 9th September 2019 while in front of a restaurant, VIS, opposite Legend Club in Jimeta, Yola North Local Government Area, robbed Rita Harrison, an employee of the State Post Primary Schools Management Board, of her vehicle.

The prosecution explained that Dompa, an indigene of Hong LGA of Adamawa State, who was armed with offensive weapons, forcefully dispossessed the woman of her Toyota Camry LE with registration number: BL 85 LSD Lagos.

According to court papers, the convict was enrolled into the Nigerian Army in 2013, and he served in Plateau State before he was transferred to Borno and posted to Monguno where he served until 2019.

In his statement admitted in evidence, Dompa told the court that while in Monguno in 2019, the military decided to collect all arms from them, but that he refused to hand over his own and held it to himself, and that a few days later, he secured a pass and left Borno to Adamawa where he lodged at Jino Hotel located at Bye Pass in Jimeta on 8th September 2019, where he met the second defendant, Emmanuel Adeka’a, and became friends.

He further revealed that on the 9th September 2019, he asked Emmanuel to escort him to Legend Club, and while at the club, he asked him whether he knew how to drive a car and Emmanuel responded that he knew.

Dompa, who was fully dressed in his military uniform and armed with his rifle, saw Rita Harrison in her car in front of the restaurant where he met her and requested money to buy food, and that the woman gave him N500.

Thereafter, the officer ordered her to hand over her car key and fired four gunshots on the spot, scaring the woman who scampered for safety.

He thereafter ordered Emmanuel to drive them after he successfully dispossessed the woman of her red Toyota Camry, and they drove the car to their hotel around 11:30 pm.

They were however intercepted by local vigilantes while on their way to the hotel and were taken to the Police.

Pronouncing the death sentence on the 29-year-old Dompa after he pleaded for mitigation of punishment, Justice Kanyson, declared that the prosecution had proven its case against the defendant as charged, and sentenced him to death by hanging or lethal injection, saying the convict abused a rare privilege to serve in the Nigeria Army which entrusted him with a weapon to protect the nation.

For the 2nd defendant, the judge held that there was no credible evidence to prove that he acted in concert with the convict, as there was no conspiracy or agreement between them.

Health / Photo: Scientist Invents ‘robot’ That Kills Ebola Virus by Juanvi(m): 12:54pm On Aug 26, 2014
Post Credit: http://netnaij.com

Recently, in effort to eliminate Ebola at the source, through use of innovative disinfection technology, two “germ-killing robots” were deployed from the US to the JFK Hospital and ELWA Hospital both in Monrovia, Republic of Liberia, both hotspots of the Ebola disease outbreak.

The robots, technically known as TRU-D SmartUVC, were used to disinfect health care environments where Ebola patients are being treated.
Good Health Weekly gathered that TRU-D is the only portable UV disinfection device on the market with Sensor360 technology, which calculates the time needed to react to room variables such as size, geometry, surface reflectivity and the amount and location of equipment in the room and effectively deliver a lethal dose of UV-C light during a single cycle from a single, central location in the room.

Ultraviolet light “It works by generating ultraviolet light energy that modifies the DNA structure of viral pathogens, like Ebola, so that they cannot reproduce. Viruses that cannot reproduce cannot colonise and harm patients,” the inventor, a tropical disease expert and medical anthropologist Dr. Jeffery L. Deal noted in an interview.

Deal and his colleague, Chuck Dunn, President and CEO of TRU-D LLC, respectively, spoke about the importance of TRU-D to environmental disinfection in “TRU-D has been validated by more than 10 studies to be 99.99 percent effective in eliminating the most common pathogens that can use health care-associated infections.

After deploying germ-killing robots to Liberia to aid in battle against the Ebola Virus Disease, TRU-D SmartUVC inventor traveled to the Ebola hotspots with UV disinfection devices.
TRU-D guarantees a pathogen-free environment for patients and health care staff. Deal, a Fellow in the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, has been training hospital staff to operate the devices in a number of hospital environments and monitor progress for successful disinfection.

• TRU-D SmartUVC ultraviolet disinfection device on display
“We developed TRU-D SmartUVC technology to combat the devastating effects ofhospital acquired infections,” Deal said.
“Unlike many diseases, Ebola strikes hospital workers more than any other group, making it the ultimate hospital acquired infection.”
With TRU-D, health care leaders in the U.S., Canada, the U.K. and Saudi Arabia are eliminating pathogens like Ebola, Middle East Respiratory Syndrome, MERS, influenza, norovirus, Clostridium difficile, Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, MRSA, etc., in all types of health care settings, including isolation wards, patient rooms, operating rooms, surgical suites, intensive care units, emergency rooms, public areas and ambulances.

“We know through extensive CDC-funded research specific to TRU-D conducted by thought leaders in epidemiology and infection prevention that TRU-D is effective at eliminating anypathogen by delivering a precisely measured UVC dose.

“As soon as we knew we could aid struggling hospitals in Liberia, our team came together and formulated a plan to get TRU-D on the ground. More than 200 TRU-Ds have been deployed to disinfect hospitals across the U.S. and internationally.

Significance Between 10 and 15 percent of Ebola cases have been among health care workers. While most of this stems from contact with the patient, concerns exist that the physical environment can retain active microbes and be a risk. This device is used in the US to eliminate the organisms that may still reside on the walls, knobs, rails or any other exposed surface in health care settings. The robotic technology is capable of making the Liberian hospitals safer for the staff and for new patients.

Development
It was developed by a team of engineers, physicians and industrial hygienists with the purpose of decontaminating entire rooms automatically and eliminating concerns that a contaminated surface was missed during routine cleaning.

We use an ultra-efficient narrow wavelength called UVC to flood the room with germicidal energy. UVC dosage is accurately measured and automatically adapts to kill organisms, even in shadowed areas.
UV disinfection technology and EVD control This technology is designed to prevent the spread of the disease transmitted via contaminated surfaces in health care environments and is not a treatment or a cure. We believe that prevention is the best medicine.

The U.S. Army tested this particular wavelength against Ebola and found that the measured dose TRU-D delivers results in incredibly rapid destruction of the virus with its pathogen-specific dosing options.. We know it is perfect for use in this critical setting.

Merits/demerits
Multiple studies have already been published from U.S. and UK academic facilities of TRU-D’s ability to decontaminate rooms, almost always testing it against organisms that are much more difficult to kill in the environment than Ebola is.

Celebrities / 'why I Hide In A Car Boot The 1st Time I Met Genevieve' – Mercy Johnson by Juanvi(m): 5:39pm On Aug 25, 2014

Mercy Johnson is one funny and truthful actress.

While speaking with a soft sell magazine, Mercy revealed her first encounter with senior colleague, Genevieve Nnaji and how she had to hide in a car boot just because she was so nervous to meet her, even though she came there to see her.

It’s so hilarious. Her words;
The first time I met her, my friend took me there. When we got to where she was, I became nervous.

I told my friend “no let me hide in your boot.” And I did. I got into her boot. (laughs) Can you imagine I came to see her and when I got there I wanted to run back.

I jumped into my friends boot. So, when she came out of the hotel, I could not see her, I could only hear her voice.

The 2nd time I saw her was on set. When she came down and I met her she said ahh! Mercy I like your movies and I started crying.

I was in tears of joy. I said Aunty Genevieve, so you watch my movies. She was sort of embarrassed. Before I met her, she had already known that there was somebody who was crazily insane about her.

She was really nice to me, receptive. And even whenever we work together she will correct me and say that thing you did, you could have done it this way.

Usually, in life, you will know somebody, who is more than you. Give him or her that respect. You can’t fight a battle you can’t win. It does not make any sense.

If somebody is much more than you, there is nothing as big as you admitting it, and hearing from that person. I didn’t come into the picture to compete with anybody.

I didn’t come into the picture to rub shoulders or outshine anybody. I came to learn, do it well, make it and be there.

Religion / Meet Man Who’s ‘been To Heaven 4x’: Met Jesus, Moses, Abel, Draws Map [photos] by Juanvi(m): 5:24pm On Aug 25, 2014
Post credit: http://netnaij.com

65-year-old Sibusiso Mthembu, from the South African KwaZulu-Natal tells it in all seriousness. And who knows, he may even be telling the truth about having visited heaven four times, so far.

The first time was in 1998, and subsequent visits were made in 2004, 2006, and 2008.

It all started in 1993, when a white man (an angel, apparently) paid him a visit and told him he was needed in heaven.

And now, after several visits, he’s drawing a map to make sure the rest of us ‘unlucky’ ones get what he’s talking about.

But it’s not the fact that he took a few vacations to heaven or even that he’s drawing a map that amuses me. It’s more to do with the stuff he says he’s seen and done there.

According to Mthembu, there are 11 heavens in all, and he was taken to the fifth one, Crista, first. It was there, in a city called Sharmoy, that he claims to have met Jesus.

The main heaven is Salem, he says, where God’s temple is located. God is apparently in his youth, and of a Grayish complexion. Jesus is white. He saw God for the first time during his second trip, on a planet called Jadalem that’s mostly covered in water and ice.

* The ‘map of heaven’ drawn by Mthembu

Mthembu’s other sightings include Moses, Elijah, and Abel. He also explored the Marshnode City, which is the place people go to when they die, to get reincarnated.

But here’s the weirdest of all his tales – he says that the people who predicted the end of the world in May last year weren’t entirely incorrect.

Mthembu seems to have eavesdropped on an important meeting in the heavens, where the biggest war against Satanism was being discussed.

The war is supposed to have been launched on May 23rd, so we’re basically on a countdown to the absolute end.

The map isn’t ready yet, but Mthembu is already worried about counterfeit versions. “People must come and see the map as one day someone from Japan or China or Britain will design a map of heaven and the people of South Africa will have forgotten that the map was originally made in South Africa,” he says.

Perhaps he needs to patent his creation. And while he’s at it, write a fantasy novel and strike a movie deal too?

Health / Tiny 'raindrop' Implant In Your Eye Could Banish Reading Glasses Forever by Juanvi(m): 9:47am On Aug 25, 2014
credit post: http//netnaij.com

Scientists have developed a new technique that could see reading glasses banished forever.
The operation involves placing a tiny implant - known as a 'Raindrop' inlay - underneath the cornea in a bid to reverse vision problems associated with ageing.

It is hoped the painless procedure will combat a condition known as presbyopia, which diminishes our ability to focus on close-up objects as we get older.

The procedure - which costs £2,495 - takes around 10 minutes and involves placing the tiny implant underneath a flap in the cornea

It is common among the over 40s and is one of the main reasons we are forced to buy reading glasses.
The technique was pioneered in America, but has made its way across the Atlantic and is now being used at Space Healthcare in Royal Leamington Spa, Warwickshire.

It could replace laser surgery, which until now has been deemed the only long-term treatment, even though it leaves some recipients requiring reading glasses in dim light.

The new technique could replace laser eye surgery - which can leave some patients still needing glasses

The procedure also takes just 10 minutes, whereas laser surgery can last for up to an hour.
Anaesthetic droplets are inserted into the patient's eye so they remain conscious throughout as the implant is placed under a flap of the cornea, the clear part of the eye.

It corrects near medium vision by changing the shape of the cornea, with the central section becoming steeper.
Lynda Marenghi, 57, a school bursar from Staffordshire, was the first person in Britain to undergo the procedure.
She told The Sunday Telegraph: 'It was driving me mad, having to hold books further and further away from me and squinting to try to read them.'
'It felt like my arms were too short and I was diagnosed with presbyopia – losing my near sight.
'It’s an age-related thing and meant I had to wear glasses more and more which was awful because, being a school bursar, I have to deal with a lot of close work and spreadsheets on computers.

The procedure costs £2,495 and is not currently available on the NHS.
Mark Wevill, an opthalmic surgeon who has completed the surgery on a handful of patients, told the paper: 'Raindrop can't stop eyes from ageing. But it can help deterioration in eyesight caused by the ageing process.

The new procedure offers hope to the 32million spectacle wearers in the UK and could reduce the £2.7billion a year spent on optical products - including contact lenses.

Bodies of the four Nigerians, who died of Ebola Virus Disease, EVD, have been cremated in line with World Health Organisation, WHO, requirements for disposal of such corpses.

The body of the index (first) case, Patrick Sawyer was the first to be cremated on July 25, 2014.

The decision to cremate the bodies, it was gathered, may not be unconnected with the deadly nature of the Ebola Virus which is known to be easily transmissible from human to human during handling of corpses of victims.

“All the bodies of those who died of Ebola from this centre have been cremated. None was allowed to undergo traditional burial because extreme care is being taken to prevent further infections,”
the official noted. The WHO in recommending that people who die from Ebola should be promptly and safely buried, notes that cremation, which is the application of high temperature to reduce bodies to basic chemical components (ashes), is ideal for safe disposal of bodies of such persons in order to minimise further transmission.

Celebrities / Nicki Minaj Knocks Out Miley Cyrus Off The Throne For Most Viewed Music Video by Juanvi(m): 5:31pm On Aug 23, 2014
credit: http://netnaij.com

Wire Image/Mike Windle/Getty Images Big butts don’t lie—but they do break records.

Nicki Minaj‘s viral “Anaconda” music video has broken the record for the most views in 24 hours, snagging the top spot from Miley Cyrus , who previously held the record for her single “Wrecking Ball” (coincidentally, the two will be seated next to each other at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards and Cyrus even Photoshopped herself on the artwork for Minaj’s single).

Music video website Vevo announced the news via Twitter today, revealing that the “Anaconda” music video has been viewed 19.6 million times in just 24 hours when compared to Cyrus’ previous record of 12.3 million video views.

Clearly, Minaj was ecstatic upon hearing the news, taking to Twitter to share her excitement in addition
to Instagramming a screen grab of one of Vevo’s tweets, which cleverly included the phrase “A$$mazing.”

Safe to say the rapper is a solid ass-et for the site.

Meanwhile, the 31-year old beauty recently opened up about her eyebrow-raising video in an interview with ABC News.

The racy clip, which has been the talk of the tabloids, sees the singer’s famous backside on full display as her dancers twerk up a storm before Nicki gives Drake a super-sexy lap dance (in case you haven’t heard, the track samples Sir Mix-a-Lot‘s 1992 hit “Baby Got Back” and celebrates all bootylicious babes).

“I wanted to reinstate something. Because of the shift in pop culture, even hip-hop men are really glorifying the less curvy body,” the recording artists explained.

“I wanted to say, ‘Hey ladies, you’re beautiful.’ Hopefully, this changes things and maybe it won’t change things, but I love it.”

Fans of the singer will be treated to not just one but two performances by Minaj at the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, where the “Starships” beauty will perform the hit “Bang Bang”—Jessie J‘s track on which she is featured along with Ariana Grande —as well as “Anaconda.”

Minaj has remained tight-lipped on her both performances thus far, simply telling ABC,

“I remember being little and watching the TV to see who was performing on the VMAs.”

In addition to the upcoming awards show, the rapper is also working on a new album, which is due out later this year.

“I think having more experiences and adding that with being a writer, it makes just for a great album,” she said.

“I’m making sure to give people
what they love and at the same time, I’m going to push the envelope.”

Can’t wait to see what’s more eyebrow-raising than a bright pink G- string.

Good luck on Sunday, Nicki!

One of the most anticipated music video of the year finally hits the net ”Anaconda”. Nicki finally lets it out – all out on this one but had to need a cameo presence of the ’0 – 100′ crooner ‘Drake’.

They got really close on this and i can only imagine :/ but you be the judge.

As at the time of this post, the video has just 300 views but no doubts, in a couple of hours, will surge. Find the video and audio below.

Celebrities / [photos] M.I Shares Cryptic Message About Plans To Quit Music by Juanvi(m): 11:23am On Aug 19, 2014

We truly hope this is some sort of joke or we truly don’t understand exactly what he means.
Chocolate City Rapper, M.I took to his instagram message to share this photo that says;
“This was the last straw. If you don’t hear any MI music you know who to blame…No regrets Except for the fans…I’m sorry. It’s over…I’m finally done with this.”

The Chairman as he is fondly called revealed a while ago that his third album was already in the works, but it sounds like there might be some problems or issues with his management/record label. We hope all is well though.

Health / Ebola Racism! South Korean Restaurant Institutes “no Africans Allowed” Policy by Juanvi(m): 9:19am On Aug 19, 2014

Ebola is the new reason racists will use to justify their disgusting behaviour!

The Korea Times is reporting that a restaurant in Seoul has instituted a “No Africans allowed” policy for fear of contracting the Ebola virus.

Two signs displayed at JR Pub read, “We apologize, but due to Ebola Virus, we are not accepting Africans at the moment.”

Since the restaurant doesn’t have a sure fire way of identifying Africans, I guess pretty much anyone that is black will not be served and allowed into the restaurant.

This stinks of RACISM! No difference between this and “No Blacks Allowed” in Apartheid South Africa!

As Africa’s largest economy Nigeria should make a move to ban all South Korean businesses operating in the country.

This rubbish needs to stop! The last place someone that is suffering from Ebola will go to is a restaurant, especially as one of the early symptoms of the disease is lack of appetite!

Two weeks ago, a South Korean university rescinded its invite to three Nigerian students , the reason given was that they were coming from an “Ebola region”

Health / Cameroon Closes Borders, Suspends Flights From Nigeria by Juanvi(m): 9:12am On Aug 18, 2014

Following the fears of spread of the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) through international air and seaports, including border land outposts of Nigerian Immigration Services (NIS) in the Northeast sub-region of country, Cameroon has closed its borders with Nigeria and suspended all flights to and from Nigeria, Vanguard reports.

The spokesman of Cameroon Foreign Affairs, Chiroumma Boukkari said the decision to close the borders with Nigeria has become inevitable, because of the fears of the ebola that spreads like wild fire in the West African sub-region.
