I never said God killed Onan just for pouring out his seed, but his actions had spiritual significance to God.

But each time semen is released carelessly, it displeases God because He sees it as an active life force.

What's the purpose of sex? It's mainly for procreation. Yes, there is pleasure and intimacy, but the main purpose is procreation.

That's why God sees semen as sacred.

God killed Onan because he willfully disobeyed in pouring out his seed on the floor.

Having wet dreams isn't willful, but masturbation is wilful and God sees it as a sin.

It had nothing to do with Onan spilling his seed, and the verse in question had nothing to do with masturbation (and no, I am not excusing masturbation...especially as I have never engaged in it, because quite frankly it does not make sense).

Onan was supposed to marry his late brother's wife, and under the customs of that time, the first child he had with his wife would be counted as his brother's child (strange to us, but in a society with high child mortality, and a concern over keeping lineages alive...).

Onan refused to do that because (as the verses imply)...he hated his brother Er. So, out of bitterness, he denied Er THE RIGHT TO KEEP his lineage alive.

Essentially, what Onan also was doing was

1. Denying Tamar the right to have a child...in a society where barreness was a BIG STIGMA. (See how Jacob, Onan's grandpa, wife Rachel felt about having no kids...and later on Hannah. And even Sarah, Onan's great-great grandmother).

2. Essentially telling his father that he wanted both his and Er's inheritance...ie greed. If he had done what he was supposed to do, then when Judah died, his (Onan's) firstborn son would have gotten Er's portion of the inheritance. By having no kids, he gets a dobule portion.

3. Essentially commiting an injustice to his late brother and dishonoring his memory.

Thus..as the bible put it in Genesis 38 vs 8-10

8 Then Judah said to Onan, “Sleep with your brother’s wife and fulfill your duty to her as a brother-in-law to raise up offspring for your brother.” 9 But Onan knew that the child would not be his; so whenever he slept with his brother’s wife, he spilled his semen on the ground to keep from providing offspring for his brother. 10 What he did was wicked in the Lord’s sight; so the Lord put him to death also

So, nothing to do with seed or with masturbation as the OP thinks it does.

At its base it is a story about how harmful greed and resentment can be. And how wickedness also can provoke resentment (Er is described as a wicked man, so it is obvious that he was wicked to his two younger brothers, breeding anger and resentment).

Contrary to your view, this story has a lot to do with the spiritual significance of a man's semen.

Yes, God killed Onan for his willful disobedience in refusal to impregnate Tamar, but his actions of pouring out his seed on the floor was very spiritually significant.

If a man died childless, his brothers were supposed to impregnante the wife, so the man's lineage would continue.

In the Old Testament God gave His people some laws concerning the discharge of semen from a man. (Leviticus 15:16-18)

According to these laws:

👉Any type of surface a man's semen falls upon is considered unclean.

👉When a man is in the process of procreation (with his wife) and he discharges his semen externally, both of them are unclean.

From these laws, we can see how sacred/sacrosanct man's semen is to God.

God ordained that man's semen should be utilized in procreation (with His wife) and not discharged carelessly/anyhow like in the case of Onan.

The major purpose of a man's semen is for procreation; to produce children on earth:

Doing a 40 day only water fast requires the grace of God. It's very difficult and can be suicidal.

Kenneth hagin of blessed memories never fasted beyond 3 days and God used him so mightily in ministry even to this day through his books.

I would advise you do a 3 day fast, it's very effective as long as you spend more time in God's WORD and pray.

Some men of God attempted to fast 40 days and died in the process. From one account of pastor Adeboye, I read that he ate 2 or 3 slices of bread everyday when he underwent one of his numerous 40day fast just for strength....

It ain't easy bro, but above all be led by the Holy Spirit and not your flesh.

"If you spend more time praising me, I will meet all your needs".

If you are in need of prophecy, divine direction and divine revelations, you need to spend more time in praise and worship.

Praise provokes God's voice as He highly seeks worshippers. (John 4:23)

Why is God seeking worshippers? He is worthy of praise; He created all things and He is immensely pleased when we praise Him:
