na_so:
If dem born Atiku papa well make him try nonsense now. His seeming "untouchable" status before the primaries was because it would have been to risky/sensitive then. People would easily have interpreted that as intimidation by GEJ because he was afraid of the electoral disgrace ATiku boasted to hand him. But if dem born him papa well make we hear anything like "violent change is inevitable" again. He simply will be treated like a common criminal by the law then.

grin grin grin grin grin
Quite on point, albeit, GEJ needs to bag the presidency before cleansing can begin.

PoliticsRe: For Or Against A Referendum Like What The Sudanese Did? by JudgeDredd: 7:53am On Jan 10, 2011
As absurd as this might sound, skirmishes with the North will be child's play compared to what will pan out in the event of a referendum that binds the whole south together.

- The south is disunited with Igbos still grieving even after inter-tribal marriages and several years of living in the midst of their purported Judas-like brothers (Yorubas)

- Niger-Delta wants (absolute if I might add) resource control, that urge can only get stronger with the Northerners gone.

- The polity dynamics changes totally with the split, in that the country or what's left of the country becomes fair game for the mischievous west or some jealous West African state a la Cameroon/France.

- How long before border line demarcation (Jos riots, oil well disputes et-al) plunge the nation into chaos once more? All it takes is scheming in the guise of some western nation trying to arbitrate.

I still propose a confederacy or a Federal government with a weak centre as a test run to work out modalities till we know how we want to split.
PoliticsRe: For Or Against A Referendum Like What The Sudanese Did? by JudgeDredd: 10:36pm On Jan 09, 2011
For chrissakes, the millitary were around and very much in control back then with vested interest/input from western nations, lack of awareness on the part of the general populace didn't really help as well.

We've got the chance to right the wrong this time around, we however should be careful lest we turn into another calamitious project of the west.

Ola edo:
Are you aware that there are already state agitators that have already put together a governmental structure and are still implementing it as preparation of nigeria's separation? so what are you talking about with "the breaking up abruptly" thing?
Is this governmental structure in tandem with reality? Which region goes with which or are we carving out 36 states from Nigeria? I'm not pessimistic, I'm for independence but I'd rather we approach it from a wholistic point of view.
PoliticsRe: For Or Against A Referendum Like What The Sudanese Did? by JudgeDredd: 9:55pm On Jan 09, 2011
Ola edo:
You can not take away a people's right of independence. If they do not what to be in a country that they were not asked permission to be in, then they should not be forced to stay in that country. However, their country turns out, whether good or bad is their own business.
Of-course, each region has a right to independence albeit it could end up disturbing the peace and stability of the various regions if rushed. Nigeria is on the brink of total collapse and all you can think of is breaking it up abruptly without considering the aftermath.

PoliticsRe: For Or Against A Referendum Like What The Sudanese Did? by JudgeDredd: 9:40pm On Jan 09, 2011
Ola edo:
Get out of here with that nonsense. Were we not living independently and peacefully before the illegal amalgamation? Confederation my foot.
I know your type, quick to flare up and slow to think. Pre amalgamation era had no OIL, no CIVIL WAR (with grudges in the heart of some peeps) and the state of the varios region was quite peaceful, can u reconcile that with present day Nigeria?
PoliticsRe: For Or Against A Referendum Like What The Sudanese Did? by JudgeDredd: 9:23pm On Jan 09, 2011
A referendum won't solve the anomaly we currently find ourselves in. Sudan lost six of her citizens (owing to religious skirmishes along the Abiye border) this very day in a bid to effect a referendum. A confederation is more apt (a test run), atleast till we fashion out how to co-exist independently and peacefully.
PoliticsRe: Relocation To Nigeria From The Uk 2011. Am I Mad Or Is It Possible ? by JudgeDredd: 5:42pm On Dec 30, 2010
Kobojunkie:
I can tell you this . . . it is not always a HOME thing for everyone. Westerners move out to Africa seeking opportunities to better themselves and possibly grow themselves as well. Do we say it is about HOME for them as well? One certainty is that people will always want to move to places or locations where they think they will have a good chance of developing their ideas or growing their business/career, and it also applies to Nigerians.

There are those abroad who have already found their homes and are happy . . . . but still go out to places like Iraq, Afghanistan, Egypt, you name it, to set up one business or another or explore new horizons. We need to Stop pretending everyone is as HOMESICK as we have made ourselves and stop pretending that by telling us it is exactly the way we imagine it, we can validate our own inner turmoil by that.
If I might inquire, did my initial post in any way imply all the bolded in your post or why was I bombarded with said quote? Were you responding to my post or someone else? I only asked a simple question and you decided to respond on behalf of the OP, insinuating all you felt was going on in my mind huh huh huh undecided

this is a lie. naija job market is about arse-licking. apart from the international organizations there, all the home-made companies are shyte! they treat their employees like animals. to get a 28-day vacation, one must almost bow down to his superiors. they make them work like trojan horses over pea-nuts cos they know if you quit, there are jobless folks out there who would fill in the role. i don't advise anyone who's spent several years in the diaspora to go back to naija and work in home-made companies. you will be massively shocked with the way employees are treated like scum.
I presently work wth a multi-national firm here and your intelligence will only take u as far as JG4, JG3 at most, anything after that you'd better have God fighting for you.

Mr non-corrupt, what exactly do you find un-appealing about your present location? Nigeria is up-coming job wise, but if u make as much as you claim, you shouldn't be this eager to relocate! undecided

Exactly 365 days ago, doctors were battling to save my life. Excessive drinking resulted into delirium tremens (it was so bad that friends who traced me 2 the hospital I drove myself 2 kept looking 4 autocrash along the way thinking I'd prolly died in a ghastly auto accident).

This year I got steady with a girl. Not only have I kicked my dirty ways but I've also come 2 realise, all that shayo and flex money can really be put 2 good use! wink

Not a big fan of virgins myself but you shouldn't dissuade those who want to keep their virginity else your intentions, however independent they are, might be misconstrued.

After she's been slammed with jail term, who'll negotiate for release of the next set of hostageshuh cheesy Actually, the leaders themselves should be brought to justice cos a lot of them are in league with these kidnappers.
