I just touched down the murtala Mohammed international airport, I already told mum and dad that I will be coming back and informed them not to tell any of my siblings since I already told them I have a surprise for them. I didn’t even tell my girlfriend that I will be leaving the states for Nigeria and I’m sure she will be very surprise.

I got to the entrance of the airport, I saw akpan the driver waiting patiently for me to arrive, from where I was I saw him but he didn’t see me at first until he turned towards to where I was coming from. He came closer to where I was with my bags.

“Welcome sir” Akpan said

“Thank you Akpan” I replied, he has really added weight from the last time I saw him, I must say my dad is really doing a great work with the workers and I can’t wait to join the company and follow his footsteps.

“How’s Dad and Mum” I asked

“They’re both at home waiting your arrival” He said

“Okay” I said as I helped him carry my bags as we headed to the car

“This ride is so fine, Dad and his taste for good cars” I said smiling

“He recently bought Sonia a car” Akpan said

“WoooW, that’s nice” I replied

It was a quiet ride to the house as I was busy playing songs on my phone while Akpan was focused on the road.

I remember how Bryan was sad when I was leaving, he couldn’t let me go. We’ve been friends since we started our program and we literally did everything together. If not for the difference in skin color, people would have thought we are brothers. Such memory is a lifetime one

After I changed to the music I prefer, I checked the time on my wrist watch and it was 6:30pm and I sigh a little if not for the delay in flight we had at the airport, I would have been home since 4:20 because it was little late and here I was thinking I will be home before my siblings come back from school which was my initial plan.

 

We got to the street where our house is located, I took a deep sigh and took my air pod off my ears and put it back into its case. I looked through the window and saw how developed the area was becoming. I remembered when we moved into our house, there were rarely any house and there were bushes all over the place but surprisingly, people are beginning to build houses around. I was still deep in thought when Akpan blew the car horn and got me out of my thought.

The gate opened and I saw mum and dad standing at the entrance of the house smiling. Akpan drove into the car park and I stepped out from the car as I walked over to greet my parents who were so excited to see me

“Nna, you’re really looking big, what have you been eating” That was my mum

“Mum its peace of mind” I replied

“Indeed” She nodded

“Good evening sir” I greeted

“Good evening son” He gave me a tap on the shoulder

‘’Where are they” I asked

“They just got back from school, I think they’re sleeping” Mum replied

“Let’s go inside” Dad said

“Let me go shower and take a little rest, please tell Akpan to leave my boxes inside the car for now, I don’t want to raise alarm because I still want my coming back to be a surprise” I explained to mum and dad

“It’s alright, you really need enough rest” Dad said

“Let me prepare something delicious for me” Mum said

“Okay mum” I said as I headed to my room to have a bath and also take a little nap.

I entered my room and noticed it’s all clean and a few clothes have been placed neatly in my ward robe. I went into my bathroom, turned on the shower and soaked myself in the bath tub

 

 

 

After few hours of sleep, I woke up and checked the time, it was already 8:15pm, I really slept for long and all thanks to the long journey into Nigeria. I got up from the bed, slipped my legs into my slippers and left the room heading downstairs when I got to last part of the stairs, I stood there and looked over at the dinning. Mum saw me first and kept quiet while Tamara kept blabbing about what happened in school. David was busy dissecting the chicken laps with his teeth, I smiled because David didn’t change. He is still that foodie I’ve always known. Sonia was taking a sip from her glass of orange juice.

“Look who we have here” Mum said and they followed her eyes and it landed on me. They couldn’t contain their joy as they ran towards me and jumped on me, if not that I was supporting myself with the staircase, we all would have been on the ground already.

“Bro, so this is the surprise you’ve been talking about all along” David asked

“You look so big now” Sonia said

“Big Bro, when did you arrive” Tamara asked

“Okay, one question at a time guys, I just in 2hours ago, you all were sleeping and yes David this is the surprise I talked about” I replied

“Mumu why didn’t you tell us he’s coming back” Sonia asked

“you want me to ruin the surprise”? Mum asked

All this while, dad was just smiling and concentrated on his food while mum was already done with hers. We went back to the dining as I sat down to eat.

“Sophia!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Mum called

‘Maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa” She answered as she ran into the dining room

She looked towards my direction and I saw the shock and happiness in her eyes, she was really looking so good and she added in the right places, her hips are to die for.”

“Please get UC a plate” Mum said

“Welcome back uche” She said smiling

“Thank you ba…..sophia” I stammered

I almost loose guard in front of my family, how much I have missed her and she is really looking so sexy with her gown that brought out her beautiful shape. I want to cuddle her and give her kisses because I have missed her so much. I have not been with any other girl since I left for the states. Sophia and I started dating few months before I left for the states and I made sure the time I stayed with her was memorable. Whenever I feel Hot or anytime I feel like cheating on her, I pick up my phone either I glance through our pictures or I make a call across to her. I was still in thought when Sonia tapped me on the shoulder.

“Bro what are you thinking about, your food is getting cold” She said

I scooped rice into my plate and started eating as I was eating, Sophia passed but I couldn’t turn to look at her because my parent’s attention was on me. And I don’t want anyone to know we’re dating.

“So bro gist us, how was your stay in Harvard” Tamara asked

“Please allow my son to eat” Mum said

“Okay mum” Tam replied

After I finished eating, Sonia cleared the dining and we all moved to the sitting room where I told them everything they needed to know and we continued with our chats until mum and dad said they’re tired and needed to sleep.

I got up and went outside to tell akpan to bring in my bags which I asked him to leave until later. 

“I got stuffs for you guys but y’all will get it tomorrow” I said

“Okay Bro” They chorused

“Are you going to sleep already” Sonia asked

“Not yet, I want to get juice from the fridge in the kitchen” I replied

“let me get it for you” Tamara said as she was about heading to the kitchen

“Don’t worry, I will get it myself” I said

“Okay” She replied

I entered into the kitchen and saw Sophia washing the dishes, she didn’t look back to see who it was that came into the kitchen and I was a bit surprised but I went to where she was and hugged her from the back and gave her a peck on her neck.

“Baby I’ve missed you” I said and she turned and faced me

“I’ve missed you too, why didn’t you tell me you were coming back today” She asked as she feigned annoyance

“I wanted it to be a surprise” I replied

“Okay” She said as she continued with her washing. I was about to hug her again when Sonia called my name from the sitting room, I hurriedly took the glass of juice and let the kitchen but not without telling her we will talk later.

It’s been a great relationship with henry, he’s been such a gentleman calling and texting to know how I am feeling. One time, he called me up to five times in one hour and I am a kind of person that loves attention a lot. I love the attention he gives me even in class

Tamara and I were in class chatting about how our weekend went, I gave a full gist on my outing with henry and how sweet henry was with his perfect gentleman behavior.

“My dad got my elder sister a car and we went out on Saturday to celebrate, and guess what?” she asked

“What” I asked looking at her as she happily hit me a little before saying

“My sis won’t be going back to her school lodge, she will be going from home” She said smiling

“Awwwww that’s so nice, at least you won’t be bored at home anymore” I said

“Yes o” she replied as she looked around to see if anyone was eavesdropping, when she was satisfied no one was paying attention on us, she looked at me smiling

“So…………..sooooooooooo” She winked at me and was about to say something before I interrupted half way

“So what” I asked

“How did your outing with your boyfriend go’? She asked

“It was really fun and he’s such a gentleman” I replied as I told her in full details how we spent our day, we were still talking when henry and kelvin joined in the discussion and I paused what I was saying and Tamara immediately switched to another topic

“And did you finish your maths homework?” She asked and blinked her eyes which I understood instantly

“Ohhh yes, I did it” I said

“Hello girlfriend” Henry said coming closer to give me a hug “How was your night” He asked

“Had headache, but I’m better now” I said

“Okay, I’m pleased you’re okay” he said and just the Tamara cleared her throat and we both looked at her

“Good morning Tam” Henry said

“I thought I’ve become too small for you to see, as na only you get girlfriend for this world” Tamara sais

“I’m sorry, it’s not like that and please forgive my manners” Henry said with a smile

“You’re forgiven joor” Tamara said

“How are you kelv” Tamara asked

“I’m good” He said looking a bit tired as he sat down on his desk, Tamara and I looked at henry for answers and he replied “His mom is sick”

“Ohhhhh” We said simultaneously with worried look on our faces

“Is there a way we can help him raise money for his mom’s drugs? Tamara asked

“That’s a nice idea” Henry said

“I have three thousand with me now, I can give it to kelvin to add up for his mum’s drugs” Henry said

“I have two thousand with me which is supposed to be for the coding class but I will get another tomorrow” Tamara said

They both looked at me as if waiting for me to say the amount I have at hand, I brought out my purse from my school bag and brought out four five hundred naira notes and gave it to henry. He smiled and collected it

“So we have seven thousand naira total and this will go a long way” Henry said

We walked over to kelvin’s desk as he bent his head on the desk, henry tapped him and he raised his head up and we gave him the money. He was surprised and rejected it at first but we insisted he took the money which he happily collected and thanked us.

Later that afternoon, we had free period and I decided to troll to my brother’s class to see what he’s been up to, He’s been worried of recent and when I asked him, he said it was nothing but my curiosity won’t let me believe him.

I peeped into his class to see if a teacher was in there but luckily, there’s no teacher and the class was not that noisy as it usually was. David saw me and came outside

“Hey sis, what are you doing here” He asked

“Can’t I come and say Hi to my big brother” I asked, and he looked at me suspiciously

“When did you start coming to my class to check up on me” He asked

“I started today, is it bad?” I asked as I looked into his class and my eye and that of Mirabel  clicked and she quickly looked away

“What are you looking at, don’t tell me you came here to gossip” David asked

“Well, your girlfriend was looking at you even though she’s sitting another boy, her focus is here” I said

“Really”? she was looking at me”  David asked with a smile on his face

“Yeah she was” I replied

“She’s been acting weird lately, I think she’s already dating her childhood friend Raymond” David said looking so sad

“I got you” I shouted

“Got me, how?” He said surprised

“so she’s the reason you’ve being so moody” I smiled

“Mtchewwwwwwwwwwwww” He sighed and continued talking “I would have known that was the reason you left your class to mine, such a gossip” He said

“That’s your business, I got what I wanted” I said

“but you said you don’t feel anything for her, all of a sudden you’re feeling her because another guy is giving her the attention you didn’t want to give her” I said

“Tamara please stop adding to my headache” David said looking frustrated

“Well, I don’t think she is dating the new guy though, there’s no chemistry between them” I said as I took a look into the class and the direction of Mirabel and the new guy, the new guy was looking our way and must have noticed we were talking about them.

“You think” David asked

“I know, I’m a girl and I know when another girl is trying to make her love interest jealous with her new friend, you just need to be bold enough to approach her and tell her how you feel and moreover it’s obviously mutual” I said

“See my Little girl tutoring me on how to approach a girl” David said

“Who’s little” I said feigning anger

“Sorry big girl” david said as he burst out laughing

“I’m going back to my class, free period is over” I said

“Alright” David said as he went into his class.

RAYMOND

 

 

Its Monday morning and the class wasn’t as quiet as it should, everybody was talking at the same time telling their friends how their weekend went. I was on my desk looking around because Mirabel wasn’t in school yet which was unlike her and I was yet to make friends, I stood up and went to talk with the guys that sit opposite my seat.

“Hey” I said

“Hey new boy” He said grudgingly

“My name is Raymond” I said to him as I brought out my hand for a handshake

“I’m Raphael and these are my friends, Rex and Collins” He replied as he took my hand

“Nice “I replied not knowing what more to say until he spoke up

“I’m Mirabel’s ex though you have nothing to worry about, I’ve never had feelings for her but your competition is over there’’ He said pointing at the guy I saw Mirabel looking at the other day. I knew there was something going on between them but I didn’t want to go deeply into that because I’m a new student.

 

Few minutes later, Mirabel came in looking so tired and angry, I went to her and asked her what happened, and she said the car spoilt on her way to school and the driver had to call the family mechanic to come fix it.

“I’m sorry, it must be so frustrating” I said

“Yeah, it really was” She replied as she stretched herself on her desk

“I thought you won’t be in school today” I said

“I wouldn’t miss school for anything” She smiled

“What were you doing with those boys” She asked

“I was bored and needed to talk, I went over to them to talk” I replied

“If you say so but please be careful with them” She said

 

 

The weather was really perfect as the sun was in a very good mood as it radiates with so much light, Mirabel and I were strolling through the football pitch talking about how we were during childhood. We go laugh at funny memories;

“I really like you Mira’

“I like you too, why won’t I like my friend” She said

‘’We’ve been friends since childhood and you still don’t want us to be more than friends’’ I said

“Ray, I will be sincere with you, I’m already into someone else and I like him so much’’ She said

“That guy in class right? I asked and she looked at me surprised at what I said

“How did you know’’ She asked

“Who wouldn’t know with way you look at him in class every time, does he even like you? I asked her

‘’It doesn’t matter” she said

We continued our walk round the pitch as we finally settled down to watch the ongoing match on the field. The guy was on the pitch, he is in one of the team and I looked at Mirabel, she was more focused on the guy than the match that is been played. I had to tap her to focus

“Why did you hit me like that” She screamed and touched the spot where I hit her

“I’m sorry” I said but she didn’t reply me, instead she stood up and left the football pitch

I ran after her calling “Mirabel, Mirabel!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I finally caught up with her and apologized, she accepted and we headed to the class together

 

DAVID

 

 

She came late to school today though I didn’t know why but I know it must be something serious, I saw her walk into the classroom looking angry and tired, she went to her desk and the new boy didn’t even allow her settle down before approaching her.

I saw him talking with Raphael earlier and I knew they might be planning something unpleasant but I really don’t care, I will avoid them like I always do.

My mind went back to what happened in our outing on Saturday and how Sonia asked caramel to peck me on the lips, I didn’t find that funny. I knew Sonia intentionally did what she did because she wants caramel and I back together but her plans won’t work because I don’t feel anything for her anymore.

 

Gabriel and I decided to go play football during lunch break, we were still playing when Mirabel and her bodyguard came to the field and sat down. I felt two pairs of eye watching me but I didn’t want to look.

I saw her angrily left the field with her body guard chasing after her, maybe he did something she doesn’t like, I was actually happy they fought only to be disappointed in class when I saw her laughing at something he said.

It’s going to be a long week because I don’t think I can put up with this thing they’re doing and I’m already getting jealous. I will have to tell her how I feel about her….TBC
