La Liga postponed indefinitely as coronavirus affects Over 33000 people

The Spanish soccer calendar has been postponed until further notice, La Liga and the Spanish soccer federation (RFEF) said in a joint statement on Monday.

All organized soccer in Spain had been postponed for two weeks due to the spread of the coronavirus but was initially due to resume on April 3.

The statement said a joint commission between the two bodies had agreed to postpone all professional soccer competitions until the Spanish government considered they could start again “without creating any health risk”.

RFEF chief Luis Rubiales last week ruled out canceling the current season, insisting the campaign would resume once the health crisis was under control.

“Both the RFEF and LaLiga wish to express our greatest public gratitude to all those who are dedicating their best efforts to provide essential services to the Spanish people,” added the statement.

The History of AFCON(Africa Cup Of Nations)
INTRODUCTION
The 33rd AFCON games will hold in Cameroon this year, but speculations are on as at when the games will hold, due to coronavirus pandemic.

As the game is approaching, Sportyleagues will take a look at the history of AFCON, and how it came into existence.

Every two years AFCON brings 24 teams from different countries together to participate in the game. It is a way of uniting countries from West Africa, South Africa, East Africa, North Africa, and Central Africa together through the spirit of football.

HISTORY OF AFCON

AFCON games, also known as Total Africa Cup Of Nations, started since 1957, and it is chaired by the Confederation of African Football (CAF). It started majorly as Men’s International football, where teams from different countries come together after booking their space through qualifier matches.

When the game started in 1957, there were just three countries that participated in the games, Egypt, Ethiopia, and Sudan.

South Africa was expected to be part of the teams that contested that year, but due to the apartheid regime, it failed to approve a multi-racial team, and they were left out of the tournament.

Sports / Why Lionel Messi Is The Best Football Player by jumxie(f): 3:25am On Mar 16, 2020
Why Lionel Messi is the best football player.

(CNN) – Leading sports scientist Simon Brundish gives a knowing look when asked who is the best footballer in the world. “While he’s alive, there’s only Lionel Messi,” Brundish says. “If you’re saying anybody else is the best player in the world, Messi’s had a broken leg for a year, or he’s dead, or you’re lying.”

Given Messi is widely considered among the greatest players to ever play the game, that might not seem like too startling an insight. But Brundish has a set of statistics he believes sufficiently ends any debate on the matter.
“Currently Messi has a goal or assist every 48 minutes,” Brundish says. “Bearing in mind that every game is almost 95 minutes long (when injury time is included) that’s two almost every single game.”

Few can come close to these feats — although Cristiano Ronaldo has long had a comparable, and sometimes superior, goal scoring rate. More recently, the likes of Luis Suarez, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Mohamed Salah have also all excelled in scoring for their respective club and national teams.
