Hydro generation all depends on how much of a reservoir you can create.

Technically Yes the volta reservoir can supply a significant part of most of West Africa demand if we bump the capacity of the dam but it is not practical as the reservoir will lose all it water.

Actually, The Volta River cannot support any bigger dam construction.

We currently run Akosombo at 50% capacity because the water level is not encouraging.

If we build a bigger dam, the water will end up drying and that wont be good for us.
The inflow into the lake only happens during the raining season.

Anyway, there is a second dam down stream for both irrigation and electricity generation
