rvp2018: It's no biggie. Kenya is presidential system. How would you hand over winner certificate of governor for example? We do six elections. Returning officer hand over certificate - then later they are legally gazetted as winner. It's just a nice little paper to know you've own - otherwise previously during one party system - you may find the winner becoming the loser.
the head of parliament is not a governor... Whether presidential or parliamentary system, the document still goes there.
rvp2018: They are verified at polling station level. These 46,000 forms. Even if you have large team...this very intensive work. A day has 84,000 seconds.
rvp2018: This zero trust society - the more manual the better. The DIGITAL FORMS came in within 24hours. What is happening is just comparing ORIGINAL forms with digital and copies. It's VERIFCATION process.
Kenya election have to be 1) simple 2) verifiable 3) free and 4) fair - we are now dealing with verifiability - meaning checking each form against digital copy sent immediately, copies each agent got, and against original. Then checking maths.
The difference so far btw what was sent the 1st night and now is not even 1,000 votes after 8-10 million. Meaning it's VERY accurate.
That verification can be done within a day
Even hard copies verification shouldn't take more than 20 hours.
In a highly suspicious society like Kenya, you wouldn't want to hold on to results beyond 48 hours less you be accused of number paddling
rvp2018: This general election with six posts - and official declaration can only happen - when all forms have arrived in Nairobi - and this being a close election - everything has to be counter-checked. The difference is about 250K votes or 1.5%. Therefore it's not easy - even US takes time in such election.
what happened to fax and party agent verifications as well as EC authentication of their seal, stamp and security codes on the forms?
vankelvin: At this point I can safely say Kenya has a weak electoral system.
Ordinary election and it is taking you eternity to finish counting, which kinda yeye election bi dis one? Are you guys having some calculation challenges or what? Even China won't use 7 days to finalize their election results.
That's why they are a model for most economic policies... They've faced deflation without it negative effect, escaped inflationary pressures and run some of the best monetary policies that have made them super rich
rvp2018: Or the luxury of a small country that is wealth and tax haven. The Swiss, Monacos, Luxemborg, Qatars, Dubais, the Singapores, the HongKong live in their own world. These are not folks who check price tag - but brand or quality. Swiss honey or even fish is going to be 3 times more expensive. Anything made in Swiss is expensive. But it also premium. It highest quality.
That's the disadvantage of running a super strong currency.... Everything made in your country becomes super expensive..
The advantage is that, everyone wants to store value in your currency hence you'll have to keep a lot of gold as reserve in order to redeem the circulation, and this becomes a hedge against inflation and allows you to print more money.
In infect, you can say the Swiss Franc is gold backed at least at 50% by law
AskiaHarem: Yes really and tinfoil hats aren’t my style.
Not exactly Rwanda is; say it with me now “medicating” the more negative effects by continuesesly hiking up there tottry exchange rates which in itself will bring it’s own questionable side effects down the line. An action they can’t afford to do for long periods of time. Same for the Swiss but that has an expiration date for them too though it’s much longer than Rwandas.
You have no idea of economics kid...
Let's go back in history.... The Romans did it for 100s of years before they took bad advise and started implementing destructive monetary policies that reduced the gold and silver backing their currency.
The Swiss Franc is backed by 95% rate reserve to free circulation r
rvp2018: I am in switzerland now; I am not aware of anything that has changed; France; Italy and Germany are dealing with stress; Swiss is an exception - prize are always high anyway - so it's inflation proof. Germany normally has lowest inflation. France and Italy the highest. Generally Swiss live in their own bubble and will buy anything made in Swiss even if it' twice the prize.
In short the swiss dont give a damn about inflation - they are inflation proof - because they will buy stuff on normal day that is some serious factor higher across the border - for them it about the country, the swiss brand as highest mark of quality, and their own world. You find the same in Luxemborg, Monaco and such small rich countries.
Exactly so.... That's the advantage of running your own country monetary policy void of influence from globalists.
They buy quality hence why they respect the value on it...
Try comparing the quality of thing in Europe generally to what you get in Switzerland and you'll realize a superior difference.
I recently did with 2 cars brought from there and how expensive cars are in Switzerland compare to the rest of Europe. I realized a vast difference even in plating used for the car.
AskiaHarem: Ok dude keep telling yourself that whatever helps you cope and sleep at night but you can’t dodge reality in the waking world .
Ps. Switzerland does face limited inflation. That title is called “clickbait”. Those strategies are just there to medicate the more painful side effects which is what I already covered.
Not really.... They don't
Learn and stop following what they want you to believe...
They only increased their interest rate recently because the Swiss govt didn't want the Swiss franc to become a haven for criminal money by introducing a new law.
AskiaHarem: My boi what alternative universe do you hail from? Are you not paying close attention to what’s happening around the globe? There’s not a country on Earth right now not going through some degree of above average inflation.
Rampant inflation is eating up the US and Britain too. Like I said it’s not all equal and it’s going to hurt weaker economies and currencies more.
Yes there are countries not experiencing an inflation nightmare... Wake up from the alternate universe that destructive central bank policies want you to believe in.
Have you heard of Switzerland yet? Learn how they do it by running their own separate monetary policy
AskiaHarem: No sole leader of any nation on Earth is going to fix this inflation. They could medicate some of the negative effects sure but this is a global problem that’s going to take global cooperation to completely fix.
not really... Individual countries are responsible for their own inflation problems and this issue is not a global phenomenon. It is time for countries central banks to run individual policies
Countries that have opted to run their own monetary policy that to wait for policy direction from the US fed or bank of England are better off.
AskiaHarem: Why in the world would Russia help Nigeria develop a pipeline to Europe when natural fuels are the most important trump cards they have over the EU? China is a little more understandable but it ultimately depends since they unofficially supports Russia’s side of the war.
I’m not a big fan of the west but at the end of the day there far more developed and stable than Russia which is a pumped up struggling 2nd world country that would hit total collapse before the major Western countries. Same for China though not as advanced as Russia but they have far more industrial output.
Nigeria should remain playing both sides of the field.
Because Rosneft, lukoil and Gazprom have been busy acquiring gas fields along the gulf of guinea. They will be far more willing to connect their gas fields to markets up north
The West has stopped puring money into fusil fuels and busy arguing that Africa is better off keeping it fusil fuels in the ground. When it comes to the tech for laying pipelines, the Russians and Chinese have laid some of the longest network of pipelines you can thing off
rvp2018: The polling and voting happened in polling station. The documents are sealed. What can be done is re-tallying. But boxes cannot be unsealed except by court order - and it will be supervised by high court judge. This avoid abuses. Kenya is a low trust society. Ghana is better in that regard. Our tribalism is very serious.
rvp2018: There is room to retally the total but not alter primary document. The ballot recounting can only happen under high court order. The ballots are kept for three years Presidential petition is heard and determined in 28 days. Kenya became 1st country to annual a presidential election So there is no problem - if polling station data has issue - and the contest is very tight - normally high court order a recount - and can declare new winner or order repeat election.
The purpose of recounts is to make sure that everything was tallied properly which means, if there was an error in the first count, a recount will correct it since all the polling station documents and votes cast are made available at the constituency level collation center.
And this is supposed to be done with the various party agents available to watch the process, who already know the results from every polling station in that constituency.
This way, courts only come in when parties can't agree on the results from a particular polling station or constituency.
GeneralDae: My biggest issue with this Ghanaian Government currently is:
Why continue with stuff like school feeding programs and all that stuff, when you need more revenue?
Why have over 100 ministers on your pay role, when Ghana is more of a centric Government?
Also, I wonder why they spent such billions on revival of the banks? (maybe you should help me understand that situation better).
At the end of the day, our African Governments are just almost all thesame.
Because school feeding is very important and the amount of money spent on it together with free shs is less than 3% of revenue.
Your second paragraph is correct, efforts from all works of life aiming at forcing that block head guy to reduce the size of his govt has not bear fruits.. Even including 3 times refusal of govt budget..
You a correct on your third paragraph as well. This govt created it own problems and Collapsing local banks was the first of it...Our current prez is so vindictive and state capture is his sole aim and everyone knows it now.
The entire process of collapsing banks was politically multivated from the very beginning... The finance minister who is the prez cousin owns an investment bank..When they came to power, he decided it was wise to collapse his competitors who were doing far better than his bank. Now his bank is the only investment bank left in the country. As we speak, they've lost two of the cases in court and are now negotiating judgement debt payment as well as the restoration of the banking license for two banks that were wrongfully collapsed.
rvp2018: NOPE. Everyone Knows Ruto won. In the entire world. The form returns were 99% available 24hours after election.
In 2013/2017 we had digital transmission of results - our perenial loser - and his supporters - got into a serious shock - because three hours after end of voting - the figures settled - and never changed as they should. They cried server rigging, computer generated, algorithm - why are % not changing - yet polling station were keying in data.
Now with these ones - images are send - then everyone slowly calculate. They have the time to go through all stages of griefing - by tomorrow they will be very peaceful
You've seen their shock, anger, depression, bargaining... I say we keep this system...it a week of healing.
obaaderemi: Sierra Leone I mean. I'm afraid it may spread across west Africa. I think this votes for Ruto is also influenced by cost of living although Ruto is part of the government.
On Ghana, I don't know how borrowing more can help. Nigeria's debt profile keeps ballooning too. That's why this 2023 election is very important. I hope you were able to register for the PVC.
Fortunately.... Govt is being stopped from borrowing as parliament finally stepping in to exercise checks
rvp2018: In kenya they cant. The polling station final declaration CANNOT be altered even if you can see a mathematical error. Doing that open room for mischief. It simply NOTED DOWN. That polling station has error of this nature - and used it as it. If a problem is serious - it's excluded from the tally
The const tallies and national tallies can be altered if an error is spotted because they are not the primary document.
That's a recipe for disaster...... Room
Elections are not supposed to be like that ... If what you're saying is true, then it means there are no room for recounts as well.
GeneralDae: You mean protests in Sierraleone? Funny thing is that the funny Sierraleone Government said the protesters are simply terrorists from outside the country .
As for Ghana, they would have to hold on tight for now until the coming of the 750 million dollars Afreximbank loan in the short term and IMF 3 billion dollars loan on the long term, to help shore up their foreign exchange through improved foreign reserves or dollars inflow. This would help reduce inflation in Ghana greatly.
That money already landed ... Unfortunately, none of that will help Ghana in anyway. Ghana's problem at the moment is not money. Ghana's problem at the moment is the Govt and it misplaced priorities and we have just two more years left so we can change the govt and everyone is just waiting for that.
The past 2 years challenges was a bad time to have a government that believes in Property Owning Democracy. They've thrown too much state money into private businesses that are yet to be productive to shore up the economy hence exposing it to shocks
obaaderemi: What is going on with inflation in Ghana? We're grappling with the same issue in Nigeria and it's effects are scary. Food prices are higher than during covid. There have been protests in Senegal with a few people shot dead by government agents
Nothing really
Only 3 things are driving inflation in Ghana at the moment Cedi depreciation comes first, which lead to fuel price increment and follow by transportation cost increase.
obaaderemi: The truth is nobody knows who has won the Kenyan Presidential election three days after voting. Both parties are just giving themselves cold comfort here and there.
That is sad because by this time, Every media house and election watchers should have an idea of who has won or whether there need to be a rerun
