GeneralDae: Are you sure about that? I'd love to see this ranking or data because Frankfurt has highrises all over. In Nigeria, only Lagos can compare of course but I still think Frankfurt would have more. Aside Frankfurt, the likes of Hamburg and even Berlin have some few skyscrapers here and there as well. Munich just preserves more of old/classic architectures.
In all, I would be glad to see your proof.
visit and see I've been to Berlin, Dresden, Frankfurt
The University of Ghana Medical Centre marks a groundbreaking achievement by performing its first human scan using the Nanox Arc Xray Tomography Scan machine, which is known for its capacity to generate high-quality medical images swiftly and accurately at a more affordable cost compared to traditional CT scans.
This makes it the second hospital in Africa to adopt this technology. Taking a lead for medical advancement
Even the poster that asked the question on twitter was a Ghanaian who avoided setting his country for drag by comparing it with Nairobi.
You never learn... Ghanaians hard compare underdeveloped countries to Ghana.
And when ever we do, we pick isolated areas to drag Ghanaian politicians and cause them enough worry.
For instance, few days ago, Ghanaians decided to put some heat on the govt because of street lights being on constantly on Ivorian roads. And question started being raised of why the Ghanaian govt keep awarding Kennedy Agyapong's wife a constract to keep installing inferior diodes as street lights on Ghanaian roads.
popizaino: I like how you hide under this mantra of Europe this and that, whenever the issue of skyscrapers are thrown in your face but am sorry to let you know that Ghana is not Europe. You are just another third world and backward African country with excellent PR. Stop the comparison.
And sorry to disappoint you,European cities such as Moscow,London, Frankfurt, Warsaw,Paris,Madrid etc all have considerable number of skyscrapers that doesn't make them dwarf like yours.
Canary wharf London is not in Asia.
You like to argue with half knowledge and that's a sign of a child who knows nothing.
Canary Wharf only started constructing these kind of apartments 7 years ago because of the huge inflow of Russian money and Arab money to chase investment properties. This development brought about a huge shortage of properties supply and a greater demand driving up sky high prices.
There's a video by B2m or so on YouTube for your education, I watched it a few years ago.
Now Moscow is an European city 😂🤣 For your info, Moscow is a Slavic city with the definition of uniformity until recently when Putin decided to lunch the new face of Moscow with the creation of a new business center and Shokovol. This development started attracting huge Russian money back home.
Have you even been to Madrid or Paris to be making Nonsense comments like these ?
AkoniMoipei: Let me let you in on a little secret. If you find that you are the one hyping yourself and give yourself praises, its probably becuse you aren't that much for others to notice. If Ghana was really as good as Ghanaians try to paint it, foreigners would already be the first to point it out. We never see foreigners hyping Ghana for development. All we see is Ghana hyped for democracy and black american back to the roots. Fyi the black Americans return to Ghana because of the same social media you say shouldn't be used as a yardstick. Nairobi and Kenya gets praised by foreigners rightfully because of development but not democracy. Its because third parties can judge better a country's development than yourself. Even black Americans who have lived in Ghana for years when they land in Nairobi they completely change their minds. So lets learn to accept what we have and work on what we dont. Ghana has democracy but dont try too hard to paint yourself as more developed than those who are way above your league like Nairobi. You just come out as petty as vindictive. You won't see Kenyans hyping their warped democracy but without even hyping their development foreigners do it.
they said development and you too you're saying hype..... should I show you foreigners who hype Ghana's development.
The funny thing is Ghana is just relax in her corner and getting dragged into crazy arguments...as soon as you start to ask for details, you see child like fumble.
The very same foreigners return back from Kenya into Ghana after realizing how backward it is and finally decide to settle here.
GeneralDae: You write as though we are not in Africa where promises are made by Government officials like they are out of fashion. If you say private sector players are making promises, then fine (although successful executions would still be based on a number of factors) but Government? no. Common sense alone tells me Kenyan Government at present have too many problems and cannot undertake such a huge project. Ruto makes lots of promises but they are mostly vibes.
😂🤣🤣
Especially for the fact that they won't be able to do any development project at least for the next 5 years.
rvp2018: Ghana mad cow. Kibera housing estate of tall high rises of 288 acres is at advanced stage. That is 10 times your airport city. All Nairobi slums city on prime real estate. Gov spend nothing [ author=Just40 post=128016325] let me just laugh as if I don't know what a joke that is 😂🤣
When are they going to eliminate pipeline? Kibera will never look even as modern as the outskirts of Lagos.
It will take you a century to understand why
Kenyan lunatic... Regimanuel Satellite city at katamanso is on 1,300 acres with17,000 homes under construction currently to house a 100,000 people. This is 100 times the size of Westland, upper hill and the rest😂🤣
rvp2018: Gov of Kenya is eliminating slum with a million housing units most of them in Nairobi.kibera will soon look more modern than any city in Nigeria
let me just laugh as if I don't know what a joke that is 😂🤣
When are they going to eliminate pipeline? Kibera will never look even as modern as the outskirts of Lagos.
rvp2018: you're dreaming if you think there a city in sub Saharan Africa that matching kind of development going on in Nairobi real estate... Dreaming is nice word..you're just above insane.
that small development happening in a small part of Nairobi is what makes you root on this forum when the rest of Nairobi keep looking like a degraded war war 2 town
Jamestown123: Bro remove Accra from that list jare. Accra is not even a million close to Nairobi. I wonder who is always decieving you guys in this forum
funny enough...on the forum, Remove SA cities and Accra is the most developed (just basic fact)
GeneralDae: It's painful to say but let's face it. Nairobi has more finesse than any other West African city from all YouTube Videos I've seen over the years and I've seen a lot.
Dakar, Abidjan, and Lagos (mainly Ikoyi and VI) are up there but at this moment, Nairobi in particular is ahead of these cities in the development curve. Accra is also developing fast with good diaspora influx but cannot be compared to Nairobi at the moment especially the best parts of Nairobi.
Nairobi has been kinda free and hospitable to foreigners and foreign investments from India and Europe for decades compared to much of West Africa.
Note: When I say Nairobi or Accra or Lagos, etc. I am comparing their best areas only e.g Westlands, Cantonement, Airport road, Ikoyi, VI, etc.
Finesse does not mean it is as developed as other West African cities
popizaino: Facts don't care about your feelings. If high-rise were not among the yardstick for development, it would have been found in your villages and not the most developed part of your cities.
By the way,i will take the words of a well travelled highly rated journalist with a blue twitter tick over a random Accra-Jos boy on nairaland.
Like I said before the city state of Singapore and the continent of Africa are on such completely different situational spectrums comparing them is arbitrary those irrelevant.
There are no equivalent “sacrifices” the “continent” of Africa or individual countries could have made to match the “current” state of the “city state” of Singapore.
Show me and African country where civil servants are willing to forgo salaries for months or years just to serve their country. Show me one
Luzebox: Honestly speaking... Can Africa ever be great...we are here fighting for which of the shithole countries is less shity... God... Have guys seen Singapore...what is really wrong
what is wrong is, Africa does not have the skin to make the kind of sacrifices Singapore made to get to where it is.
ChaosMagus: Lol... You obviously didnt read the entire write up. But you needn't insult me to make your point. You dont have to be 60 to know and interprete bare facts. I'm in my late 30s, attended a good secondary school in Accra, BSc Statistics -KNUST, etc. While I dont know your age, i can confidently tell you that there is very little you know about Ghana that I dont know. I dont do politics. I hardly even argue. I am just an ordinary Ghanaian sharing his views. But hey we move...
About the last part... I am really in a hard place now. I lost my Ghana Statistical Service job, few years ago, delved into business, locked up cash etc etc. I will be forever grateful to you, if you or any one can help me in anyway...🙏please. Peace to you all.
I didn't because I realized you didn't read what I wrote to you else you won't be repeating the same things.
I also have my 80k frozen by this govt nonsense clean up exercise which was meant to cripple political opponent
samorobo: Lol it’s not really about the color but more of the design. It’s giving the ugly vibe of this building. So many similarities
This building is actually a beautiful building with a great design.
You probably don't have an eye for wonderful designs that brings into reality the impossibilities of architecture. Do you understand what it takes to actually put up such weight on such a tiny footing and direct wind flow to create stability.?
ChaosMagus: Ok so the constitution was drafted and actually accepted and implemented by "Kuffour and his people to protect Rawlings". My God, really... I never knew that. Lets just assume its true, couldn't he (Rawlings) have been smart enough to get a group of intelletuals to look into and mend any potential loopholes. When you send your children to undertake a task, don't you cross check to ensure they do a quality job. That is what a true and smart leader does.
Take a look at our land tenure system. Could't he have done something about it. Look at those useless portfolios. Look at the number of ministers. It is actually Rawlings fault the kind of leaders we have now. All the stupidity being exhibited by our current leaders now is all due to Rawlings. He set the bar so low, considering how long he stayed in power he should have done far better.
Are you actually telling us Ghana in 79 was in a more dire situation than LQ Yew's Singapore in the 50s. Have you checked and compared economic indices, literacy rates, mineral resources, gdp per capita etc. Really... ok.
As for Rawlings everyone was corrupt except himself, his family, MPs and Ministers. I stayed in Ashaiman then (which is his stronghold), you cant tell me anything about some of the corrupt practices of his appointees. He was just buga buga, his appointees were smarter and they were the once who chopped the money.
And who told you, you cant put a cap on the number of constituencies, which law states that? Are US and UK the only countries in the world. Must we always do what they do?
Of course, from my write up I seem to be focusing on only Rawlings and ignoring the others. The thing is, Rawlings' case was just perculiar, no other president in Ghana will get that opportunity, and never will Ghana get such an opportunity to be ruled by a leader this long. So the point I am driving is if Rawlings had that opportunity, he should have done far more than what he has done. The same corruption and sanctions Acheampong came and met them. Take Acheampongs achievement and number of years in office, compare to that of Rawlings achievements and number of years in office and see for yourself.
For our current leaders the least said about them the better. You and I know their main priority is the votes. Its not like they are stupid. They know exactly what should be done. Imagine Akuffo Addo having 120 ministers why dont you also compare that one to Canada's ministers or UK's ministers. What I am saying is we are at difference stages in development, we must do what works best for us as a people.
I have heard you and other Ghanaians say Rawlings stabilized and returned the country to democracy. What people fail to understand was this stability, peace and democracy was fought for, people actually pressured Rawlings with demonstrations upon demosntration till he had no option than to accept it. It was never done willingly by him. If there were no pressure Rawlings could have done what any ordinary African leader wanted- hold on to power.
You were boasting with the entire dansoman township on this platform. Didnt you know it was built by Acheampong, look at "operation feed yourself" an initiative by Acheampong that saw Ghana export food commodities, something we could only dream of. And Acheampong was in power for how long? Please come again. His government was corrupt, I agree, but what actually brought Acheampong down was mainly his quest to make himself president for life by forming the UNIGOV, the corruption was mostly cited by his opponents because that was what could better get the people to support the coupe.
Anyway me I am broke ooo... and I am so tired of this country. My priority now is to travel out of this country(Ghana), US/Canada on my mind now. @Just40 or any brother here who can help me I will appreciate it. Thank you all. Peace
you're probably a kid not even 18 years old hence this kind of reasoning
