sheyguy: Isn't mini-exportation more profitable than mini-importation in a time like this? If you export $1,000 of service or product that's N400K. In importation that will require some level of time, money, and marketting-effort investment. Are you into the business? |

Sorry. That stuff nearly damaged my ear four years back. Don't poke it please. Olive oil would do the magic! It will supply more oil than the ear would require to cleanse itself normally, thus, arresting and perhaps letting the insect and its particles flow out with time. Once you get to the medical center tomorrow, what I expect the doctor to do is to flush the ear continously with water, that's a widely used method.
Sorry once more and remember not to poke. |

He could have presented his case in a much better way, he would have been a blessing to pass his message across and keep his student status. Shut up! There's no forces except that of the masses. FYI the global community is his estate, Nigeria is only a damn effd country out of the whole! |

Badyear: Hi, I made an inquiry and it turns out soroti does not offer medicine too. You can try searching for mpre medical schools on google, but i really don't know of any cheaper schools. That means the info on the site was misleading. In summary, one can get admission into a medical school but with nothing less than $1000, is the per semester one year over there? I will have to relay what you have said so far to the gentleman and perhaps get back to you. Thanks a bunch! |

Badyear: Lol I really do not know why they have a terrible website but I assure you that Makerere is a wonderful institution. If this thread came up around last year I would have told you that you're wrong for discouraging him, but life is becoming very expensive here, students are struggling to graduate while others are transferring to cheaper(less recognised) schools. This is actually a global issue, most if not all nigerians studying outside Nigeria are complaining of the unfavourable exchange rate. So no i do not know of any chartered institution that offers medicine at a cost below N200,000 also all private universities here are not really competitive and can be satisfied with only your 'O' level qualification. But if your friend is willing to pay $1000 or a little more per semester for medicine then I highly recommend Kampala International University (western campus), if not then he should try googling Busoga university, Soroto university. Lastly i guess it is safe to think that Nigeria has a better economy than Uganda but having access to 24hours electricity with very little crime rate and a less corrupt education system is all i ever needed. I checked Busoga, it seems they don't offer medicine. There was nothing to view in Soroti University website, the courses were there but no admission criteria, no tuition fee information and other vital information. Perhaps, the country is a bit backward in ICT. I didn't bother to check Kampala, the gentleman can't afford that for now. Can you help in fishing information from any other source about soroti. Thanks. |

Badyear: I intentionally left out Makerere and other public universities because they are usually a no-go area for foreigners(most especially west-africans) but I guess I can tell you the little I know about Makerere. Makerere is one of the best universities in Africa and the world and has been active for almost a century now ,also students are only admitted into the university once in a year(august intake) and Makerere has a certain limit to how many students she can admit in a year so you really can only imagine the level of competition. Also candidates are required to have an 'A' level qualification or its direct equivalent which is bad news for Nigerians because we only have 'O' level qualifications, so that means you should be ready to spend an extra year or two in any secondary school of your choice. Tuition fees ranges from 200,000-300,000 and Makerere offers virtually all courses. Lastly you can acquire certificates of any field of choice for like N25,000 and there is also a Makerere Business School(MUBS) if you are interested. Thanks for the detailed information. i consulted their website but it doesn't speak of there fame as the best or among the best in this part of the world, it was poorly constructed and has less and outdated information. It is actually a friend that is bent in going to this country in particular for medicine, i have tried to discourage him because i know Nigerians are relatively more comfortable than they are. Kindly recommend another school, not that expensive that he can acquire the medicine degree with O'level as pre-requisite for admission, a school less competitive. Thanks for your time! |
