Jose Mourinho, the most successful manager in Chelsea’s history has been sacked by the club. The club had been underperforming for a long time now and average less than a point a game in the league with them perilously hanging just a point over the relegation zone. So what went so terribly wrong for the champions who were widely expected to win if not challenge for the title again? 1. Pre-season was a mess Chelsea had set a couple of post season matches in Bangkok and Sydney for the team almost immediately after the season in which they performed miserably and were then given a long break halfway into the International Champions Cup. Again, Chelsea lost only one match against the NYRB second team but won against Barca and PSG on penalties but it was abundantly clear that Chelsea were underperforming with players looking sloppy in possession and heavy in general, with their movement lacking pace and the burst of power as usually expected from these players. It was expected that this sluggishness would soon be wiped away as the season progressed but it was only a precursor to the real storm which was about to break out. Chelsea failed to turn up in any of their further matches against Fiorentina and co and Mourinho also famously lost his first match to Wenger in the Communitlrformance over the summer considering the utter farcical transfer window endured by the club. 3. The Carneiro row In the very first match of the season, Mourinho picked up a fight with Eva Carneiro and this completely rocked the dressing room as it was widely believed that she was actually performing her duties just as she should. It got even more intense after Mourinho refused to apologise and further relegated Carneiro to the backroom duties. Facing such a precedent and utter humiliation, Eva resigned and has lodged a CAS case against Chelsea and the ex-manager for mistreatment which is due for hearing the next year. 4. Cech sale and Courtois injury In one of the most sensational transfers of all times Chelsea legend Petr Cech moved to the Emirates, a move which was against Mourinho’s wishes but was given the green light by Roman Abramovic. Chelsea in exchange bought Asmir Begovic who was a great goalkeeper in his own right but was not anywhere near the class of Courtois and Cech, especially while collecting crosses and as soon as Courtois received a red and sustained an injury later, it was clear that to hurt Chelsea, teams need to take advantage of the absence of Courtois. Crosses after crosses were drilled into the Chelsea box and with no leadership and communication at the back, it Jose Mourinho, the most successful manager in Chelsea’s history has been sacked by the club. Disappointing Transfer Window The alarm signs were there in the back end of the previous season as Chelsea struggled but huffed and puffed their way to the title solely on the brilliance of Eden Hazard. The board should’ve stood up and taken notice at the obvious lack of form of many players along with the ages of squad members and should’ve made smart decisions instead of picking up liabilities like Radamel Falcao, Papy Djilobodji and missing out on key targets like John Stones. A key area for improvement was the midfield where Chelsea were missing any sort of quality replacements for Fabregas, Matic and Ramires. The striking position was also in dire need of refurbishment considering Diego Costa had been out of form for quite a long stretch. The most disappointing failure was to buy a right back considering Ivanovic was nearing the end of his time with Chelsea, if not retiring and except him there was only Cesar Azpilicueta who could play there. Azpi himself was the first choice left back and Baba Rahman came in as backup but 3 players for two positions was desperately understrength for an aging defence. The Stones acquisition would have been ideal but a proper replacement should have been kept in mind instead of failing as spectacularly as Chelsea did. Questions must be raised about Emenalo and co.’s performance over the summer considering the utter farcical transfer window endured by the club. 3. The history of Nigeria cannot be complete
without mentioning those days of doom of
Nigerian civil war. The Biafra war started on July
6, 1967 to January 15, 1970, about three years. It
was won by the Nigerian Army, against those
agitating for the defunct Republic of Biafra,
under Colonel Odumegwu Ojukwu of the then
Eastern region.
Obviously, history cannot be allowed to repeat
itself, this time around, thus the renew agitation
of Biafra nation by the movement of Sovereign
sState of Biafra (MASSOB), led by Ralph
Uwazuruike, and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra
(IPOB), which was orchestrated by Nnamdi Kanu
through his radio station.
Surprisingly the Biafra agitation ensued when
former president Jonathan was defeated in the
last general election, by incumbent President
Muhammadu Buhari. I recall in damning some of
the nasty words of Nnamdi Kanu and I quote
“When we speak the zoo trembles, that’s what
happens when a cattle rearing terrorist and
paedophile is your ruler. Message to every
hardcore Biafra, if you find anyone village asking
Awusa Fulani or Yoruba bastard, let them
keep searching as we keep tweeting for Biafra
lunatics.’’
The above was posted by Nnamdi Kanu, the
London-based director of Radio Biafra and a
leading member of a movement agitating for self
determined from Nigeria to form the sovereign
state of Biafra.
The wailing wailers of post election have now
translated to pro-Biafran agitators, raining all
sorts of abuses on Nigeria and Nigerians
including its founding fathers. Indeed, Kanu sees
himself as a wiseacre within his Igbo people and
he has successfully brainwashed his fellow
Igbos. The eccentricity of Kanu and his radio
station is quite potty, though the gimmick applied
by this young man who resides far-way in United
Kingdom is to cause riot in Nigeria, while he lives
comfortably in London.
The Nigerian Broadcasting Commission (NBC)
has made frantic efforts to put an end to the
illegal activities of this Biafra Radio, which is aim
at tainting the image of Nigeria. Furthermore,
Kanu is being detained on charges related to
treasonable felony. During the recent visit of
Buhari to India, the pro-Biafrans made some
efforts to protest to President Buhari right at the
airport, before they were thwarted by Indian
security operatives.
In addition, I and many well meaning Nigerians
adduce that the pro-Biafrans are just groups of
hooligans and jobless youths, out to disturb the
peace and tranquillity of by Nigerians. The
insurgency of Boko Haram has been intractable,
yet some unscrupulous elements are trying to
cause mayhem. https://www.today.ng/opinion/44986/facts-about-pro-biafrans |
Following the renaming of his faction of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), to Biafra Independent Movement (BIM), another factional leadership of the group has asked by Chief Ralph Uwazuruike, to hands off the affairs of Igbo selfproclamation group. Rising from an emergency meeting at MASSOB headquarters in Okwe, Onuimo council area of Imo State, presided over by Comrade Uchenna Madu, the group stressed that Uwazuruike remained expelled from MASSOB. It noted that more revelations have emerged on the activities of the former leader of the group which indicated that he was not fully committed to its cause. In a statement signed by Samuel Edeson, MASSOB’s National Director of Information, the group said: “After the investigations on the activities of Chief Ralph Uwazuruike when he presided over the affairs of MASSOB, alongside recommendations and resolutions adopted after the probe, Uwazuruike shall be issued an ultimatum to return every property of MASSOB in his possession” The group which described as laughable, Uwazuruike’s move to form a new group, observed that it was a pity that their erstwhile leader who often lambasted deserters of the group, could at this point leave MASSOB simply because he was sanctioned for his misdeeds. “Uwazuruike’s actions have repeatedly shown that he is not in the struggle to serve but to be served”, the statement read. The statement maintained that MASSOB shall remain non-violent and more focused on the prime objective for which it was founded and not be distracted by petty arguments and insinuations from persons who merely seek revive lost relevance. https://www.today.ng/news/national/49907/massob-faction-asks-uwazuruike-to-return-property?utm_source=&utm_medium=twitter |

Students of the Adekunle Ajasin University Akungba Akoko (AAUA) have asked the institution’s authorities to investigate the circumstances that led to the untimely death of their colleague, Ewaworin Oluwamuyiwa, or face a student uprising. The students allege that a university paramilitary organization, known as the Cadet Corps, beat Mr. Oluwamuyiwa, a 400 level final year student of the Psychology Department, to death on campus. On Monday, several students close to the deceased informed SaharaReporters that a leader of the Cadet Corps, Adeola Adedoyin (AKA “Iron Body”), commaned the squad responsible for torturing Mr. Oluwamuyiwa to death. "Oluwamuyiwa was already sleeping when Adedoyin, known as 'Iron body', led his gang of Cadet Corps members into Shanghai Villa [the residency of Oluwamuyia] and asked for the room of Oluwamuyiwa. A resident pointed out the room to Adedoyin," according to a student statement. “The next thing we heard was the Cadet Corps banging on the late Oluwamuyiwa's door while they shouted on top of their voice that the young man should open his door or they would force it open," they added. The cadet gang forcefully gained entrance into the room and bounced on top of the victim whom they beat angrily until blood started gushing out from his body," the student source explained. Since knowledge of his involvement in the murder of Mr. Oluwamuyiwa became public, Mr. Adedoyin has been on the run. Several students accused the top management of the university of harboring the fugitive. These students threatened to organize a massive protest if Mr. Adedoyin was not found soon by the authorities. SaharaReporters gathered that shortly after the gang left, Mr. Oluwamuyiwa was found in a comatose state and gasping for breath inside his room. He was immediately rushed to the Iwaro General Hospital by his co-residents. "From Iwaro General Hospital, his condition worsened and the doctor on duty advised that he should be transferred to another hospital in Ondo town. He was subsequently rushed to the University Teaching Hospital in Ibadan. A surgery was carried out, but he succumbed to his wounds," a student source said. The news of the late Olumuyiwa's death went viral on social media and is currently generating lots of controversy among the student community. Several students sources expressed confusion about the motivation behind Mr. Oluwamuyiwa’s gruesome beating. A few students recalled that the Cadet Corps once threatened the deceased during a show organized by the university. Students alleged that several Cadet Corps members promised they would “treat his Bleep-up”. The Department of State Security Services (DSS) informed SaharaReporters that they began an investigation into the murder. University management declared the supposed perpetrator, Mr. Adedoyin, as wanted for his involvement in the incident. Speaking on the phone with SahararReporters, the Dean of Students Affairs of the University, Bolanle Ogungbamila, said the Cadet Corps would be effectively banned until university management can investigate the cause of the incident. "The organization [Cadet Corps] will remain banned while the university management investigates the situation. We are on top of the situation and we have advised our students not to take the law into their hands, they should remain calm until the school authorities investigate the matter", he said. In a statement forwarded to SaharaReporters, the Student Union Government (SUG) of the institution called upon Mr. Adedoyin to surrender to the Nigerian Police Force. The state was jointly signed by President, Odunyemi Adegbola, General Secretary, Segun Odunayo, and Publicity Secretary, Lanre Ikuejuroje. "The cadets' base is declared locked down by the union [SUG] until further notice. We advise Mr. Adeola Adedoyin to surrender himself to any nearby police station or risk being arrested by men of the Nigerian police force," the statement read in part. http://saharareporters.com/2015/12/08/aaua-students-threaten-protest-after-cadet-corps-beat-student-death
