Period leave, a policy offering paid or unpaid leave for employees experiencing menstrual discomfort, is sparking a much-needed conversation. It's a policy rooted in both gender equality and social justice.

The world menstrual hygiene management day 2024 bears the theme #PeriodFriendlyWorld, and the 528 project considered it paramount to introduce a defiant approach to encourage dialogue amongst men in cognizance of the fact that stigma is perpetuated due to ignorance. For far too long, menstruation – a natural biological process for about half the population has been shrouded in stigma and silence. This silence spills over into the workplace, where women experiencing sometimes excruciating period symptoms often face a difficult choice: endure discomfort and reduced productivity, or power through in pain, potentially jeopardizing their health.

The 528 project this year, partnered with the Misters of Nigeria contest, a platform that prunes young men for international pageant competitions and challenged the contestants to a debate competition with topic; PERIOD LEAVE: A BOON OR BANE FOR GENDER EQUALITY.

Sixteen contestants participated in the competition. The event which was organized and moderated by the founder of the 528 project, Violet Ejiata, held at Monty Suites, Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria, and was thoroughly judged by our esteemed panel of judges who are Dr. Edwin Eno (cofounder of Landshop limited), Mr George Adjete (UNFPA YPP Youth Coordinator), Barrister Ozuomba Ozumba-Mbadiwe (Ozee Mbadiwe), Barrister Oseloka Mbadiwe (Ocee Mbadiwe), Mrs Anthonia Ahanor (founder of Pageant Studio Africa), Victory Wilson.

The program ended with beautiful games like period related charades where the contestants challenged the bounds of masculinity for a more just and equitable world.

The 528 project is a menstrual equity advancement initiative addressing period poverty, we have facilitated the distribution of over 5,000 free sanitary pads since 2020 and we look forward to beating this number to distribute 1,000,000 pads by 2025. OAU ALUMNA AIMS FOR MISS UNIVERSE NIGERIA TITLE
Also known as Great Ife, Obafemi Awolowo University is one of Nigeria’s “Ivy League” universities, renowned for producing exceptional and successful alumni. Some of the popular alumni of OAU include global superstars like Asake, Fireboy DML, top corporate executives like the CEO of MTN, Karl Toriola, President of African Development Bank, Akinwumi Adesina as well as billionaire businessmen Femi Otedola, Jimoh Ibrahim and two sitting governors amongst a host of others phenomenal industry players.

The program organized by the 528 project Program Coordinator, Violet Ejiata, with the support of the Office of the Ojomu Royal Palace of Ajiran, Lagos State, was attended by key international Beauty Queens, Mrs. Rei Obaigbe (reigning Mrs Nigeria and Nigeria’s representative to Mrs World in Las Vegas 2022), years Queen Nnena Odum (Miss Eco International first runner up 2023), Coach Naya (Beauty Pageant Tutor), supported by Queen Damilola Bolarinde (Miss Grand Nigeria 2022), and Queen Abimbola Abayomi (Nigerian Queen 2021).

The pet project of the Face of GirlPreneur Beauty Pageant called the Pad A Pal Initiative which is designed to assuage period poverty by provision of free sanitary products for women and girls of menstruating age in low income households as well as Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management sensitization has been welcomed with open arms to Oyo State. The project which has raised about $2,000 for purchase and distribution of pads in its two previously held editions in Lagos which was executed by the Queen Violet Ejiata, and Nigeria’s Capital, Abuja which was conducted by the Face of GirlPreneur first runner up, Queen Iferike Rosella, has now been endorsed and supported by the Oyo state House of Assembly as revealed by the Queen, Queen Violet Ejiata who was received warmly in company of volunteers of the project by the Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Right Honourable Adebo Ogundoyin at the Oyo State Government Secretariat in the State capital, Ibadan. The Speaker, the Deputy Speaker, and the Oyo State House of Assembly Legislators did not reserve their enthusiasm about the project and pledged their full support to the cause whilst commending the Queen for her consistency in carrying out such altruistic and inspirational project. The outreach is scheduled to take place in a community in Egbeda local government area of the state on Saturday the 13th of February, 2021.
Covid-19 left many families financially handicapped and their girl child(ren) extremely vulnerable during their menstrual cycle. In order to commemorate Valentine’s Day, the outreach is targeted to reach 5,000 women and girls in rural communities and is slated to hold across five states in Nigeria- Oyo State, Imo State, Rivers State, Akwa-Ibom State, Lagos State, and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
While this third outreach wraps up the Face of GirlPreneur 2020 Queens’ reign, the question everyone wants answered is, “what state is NEXT”?

The mission of the initiative is to improve rural community living amongst women by addressing growing genital health concerns through provision of quality sanitary pads.

Violet Ejiata on the 29th of February 2020 bagged the First Ever Face of Girlprenuer Nigeria making it her third crown in 3 years.

After wowing the judges and audience, amidst the intense competition,Violet swooped the title, becoming the first ever Face of GirlPreneur Nigeria.

She wore a beautiful fringed dress by Odubela Couture which

Beholding the high-fenced environment of Kirikiri Prisons is enough to make one appreciate freedom.
And seeing the inmates being remembered by those lucky enough to enjoy freedom could be quite emotional, especially for the inmates.
That was the case recently when miss Intellects Queens in collaboration with Girls Inspired Africa & Above Only Homes, visited the female wing of the prisons in Kirikiri,Apapa,Lagos on the 31st of January 2020, with Sanitary Pads, foods, and drinks to Go round the Inmates.
Looking around the correctional centre, you could see some facilities, including an ICT centre and a study centre
In an opening address by one of the high Ranked officer of the prison; what used to be called a prison is now a correctional centre, which seeks to make inmates better persons before being re-integrated into the larger society.
“When you visit this place, your perception will change because it is no longer a prison per say but now a custodian centre for correctional services says the officer.

Our experience was Electrifying because in the Correctional Center they also have models, Even to the level of having their own Agbani (Beauty queen) and lots of different talents. We also noticed that For as long as the inmates are in there, they can be trained to become self-dependent, there was a fantastic synergy between the officers and the inmate of the facilities which have not been seen before in any similar facility before,

The Queens Numbering Up to Four (4), Queen Miracle Adeola,Queen Faith Osas ,Queen Margaret Paul and Queen Olivia Peace with correspondants from Girls Inspired Africa and Above Only Homes , told our correspondent that the visit was in the spirit of The Pet projects of the Queens tagged project "Pad The Inmates" focused on love and oneness, as the beauty pageants Motto reads (Beauty For Mankind)

Addressing the inmates, the President of Miss Intellects Pageant, 'Mr. Jeff Onyeka Geoffrey' and Representative from Girls Inspired Africa Miss Bukola , expressed gratitude to the warm welcome from the prison officials and also expressed optimism in the inmates becoming better people with no doubts in the near future,
“Upon our visit today, we know that the Almighty God will grant you all your heart’s desires.
“We are happy that we visited the inmates because it has given us a wider knowledge of things they need and also how best we can help to encourage them academically. And, by God’s grace, we will plan our next visit with items related to what they need more,

A plan to Extend The project "Pad The Inmates" is ongoing,we wish to extend the Visit to most Female Prisons in Africa and any region we would cover month by month till our avision is been met ,”Mr Jeff Onyeka said. a rather hysterical mood with fists pointing to their visitors, all the inmates echoed, “God bless you, see you outside soon. we Love you all"

Queens From the Miss Intellects Pageant in the names of Queen Miracle Odofin(MIW), Queen Faith Osas(MIG), Queen Margaret Paul(MIT) And Olivia Bala (MI East ambasador), Intend to Put Smiles on the faces of the Female Inmates with the Supports from Girls Inspired Africa Org., Above Only Homes Org. and Some Hope Driven Organisations Willing to take out time to Supporting the Vision.

The event is scheduled to Hold on The 31st of January 2020 by 11am at the Female Correctional Center, Kirikiri Prisons, Lagos Nigeria.

Queen Rachael Was seen fixing an automobile as one of the engineers in the Mechanic Village.

Sources gathered speaks that she is currently doing one of her projects as an undergraduate at the Mechanic Village in One of the major Cities of Nigeria.

With the result were Six Beautiful Ladies Were Crowned Queens starting from Miss Miracle Odofin Who represented Benin Republic Bagged the Miss Intellects World 2019
Followed By Miss Mercy Musumba Who Represented Kenya Crowned the new Miss Intellectos International, Third Lady Crowned Was Miss Rachel Adekanye who represented Nigeria Now the new miss intellects Universe, Fourth Miss Faith O. Friday who was crowned Miss intellects Globe, she represented Liberia, while Miss Ghana (Margaret Paul) was Crowned Miss Intellects Teen , and Miss Susan won the Miss Intellects Africa she represented Ethiopia in The Just Concluded Miss Intellects Pageant which was held at the Lekki Astoria Events Center on the 3rd Of November 2019, the Event was tagged The Industrialist Hosted along side an awards Ceremony with more than (700) Guests in Celebrity,Dignitaries, Industries Finest,friends and family in attendance as the winners of The Pageant and Awards were announced.
Three Other Ladies also got to become regional ambassadors for change in their different regions.
