If you willing/able to pay 75K to acquire a CPE (customer premises equipment) and can afford 7500/ month for a always on 128/64 connection (not NETCOM), and i think it will work in just about every part of lagos, then gimme a buzz, i think i can hook you up with broad band internet. |
Well there are a very few ones who are legit. I still don't see the logic, but all i can say is that i have earned some money online from this typa job a while back. It wasn't a typing job i did at such but that is what they advertised. I of course did my research well before i had anything to with them, but it was far too hard a job, and not encouraging so i didn't continue. My main point is they are not all lies and scams, but the major majority of them are. Which probably goes for the majority of things in life; there will almost always be the few good ones, if you only find them. |
Old glory, I wanna get a laptop and maybe 1 or 2 more comp stuff. I havent bought it yet, just don't wanna go through the 'trouble' (and risk?) of buying it online. Guess i'll find a way eventually. Thanks |
Howdy peeps, is any1 here visiting lagos from US or UK (perhaps canada too) anytime soon(like in the next 1 or 2 weeks), or do u know any1 who knows any1 who knows any1 who's visiting town in said time frame? I'm trying to purchase something from there and have it brought here. If you can help pls drop me a line at my yahoo IM (topdog9926). Thanks |
Hot_CoCo check my profile for my id |
hey Hot_CoCo, drop me a msg on my yahoo, i might have something that might be of interest to u. |
africanboy is right, a great deal of them crack sites is driven by revenue from porn. And as has been said they also contain a lot of diff typa worms and all what not. However, i do not think that was the original idea in the begginings. I think the people who started them crack and serial sites started it majorly because THEY COULD. Plain and simple, and they took joy/pride in the fact that they had done something major that will affect a lot of pple. Just like peeps who create virus progs that wreck havoc have nothing tangible to gain other than the fact that THEY COULD DO IT. Like an 'e-motional' trip or high. But the crack/serial ppe probably also did it for altruistic reasons. To help pple get what they need for free, and the porn comps saw the huge traffic they pulled and pitched with the creators, offering them $$$. And as more and more programmers saw the bennefits and $ involved, they probably got into the game just for the $ and probably free email addy which they could sell. And any1 who gets stuff from them know thay they can indeed be a good thing, although also be a headache. |
Yeah, and i found out their toll free dial up is only available from 2 companies (discom and GTE) who unfortunately don't have very wide coverge in lagos. But all the same i'm sure it will still beat multilinks and starcomms and co. who charge 15000 Naira/month. And i also recently found another ISP that say they offer broadband intenet, they don't have a website, i have visited their office but i have been hearing different stories from them, therefore i'm not sure i can say anything on them for now, We really need to be deliveed from the hands of all these theiving rip-off ISP's, especialy in lag |
Chinani, i'm sorry but i didn't say you were nasty, i said chances are that the topic could turn into something nasty. And you can be rest assured that i read and have read many many books, some that weren't even worth my while more or less. And i will probably still keep reading, perhaps you can point me in the direction of a good book or two. alj, feel free to look for and read the book, but be also warned that it is quite volumnous, and you will read many things that you will not be prepared for or will easily accept. But you can do as i do, take what you will from a book and throw away the rest. That method has always worked for me. Hope it does same for you. |
@ alj. Well that is a theory, and that is how it is done. Gather up all reasons/theories/explanations, then seive the shaft from the grain by way of reason/logic or whatever it takes. untill you narrow down the list to the barest minimum. And while i can bring up certain arguments against your theory, just as you did the one i wrote(while not mine) i'd rather not. There are certain types of "arguments" i never get into as a matter of principle, and this toipic fits the bill. @chinani Yes you may be correct, I very well might have been looking for the meaning of (my) life, which may be one of the reasons i read the book. But i strongly disagree that what i wrote is racist. It may sound racist, but i doubt if it is, because i read the statements before and after. Just like you can never really tell a book by its cover you likewise cannot conclude that the statement is racist, because you only heard/read 1/10th of the book (which im sure you wouldn't even wanna look at.) I could say more, but i'd rather not, i just sought to contribute to the discussion and give food for thought. And i see there's a big possiblity of this turning into something "nasty" so i shall let sleeping dogs lie. |
@ ajadudu I am from africa and the reason why i read the book 2ce is something you nor I would want to to happen to u in ur wildest dreams or nightmares. @Jakumo did i not say the theory is not mine and that i am NOT their member? I am just seeking an explanation to the subject matter and that is one that i have found. And trust me if u will, there are much more racist writings and opinions out there. And since u outrightly rubbish this theory, can you then give another? |
Now this might shock a lot of people, and a lot of people will think it's blatant nonsense, it actually makes "sense" to me and untill another sound theory is given i will continue to hold onto what i am about to say. A book i read (2ce) just might give you the answer as to why nigerians/africans are the way we are. I'll try to explain it as simply as i can. The book i read is called "The Rosicrucian Cosmo-Conception," and it is basically written by the Rosicrucian fellowship (lets just call them a religion for simplicity's sake.) Their theory basically goes thus: They believe in the doctrine of rebirth or life after death. They also posit that the reason for our being on the earth(all the numerous reincarnations) is to gain experience, i.e spirits gaining a physical experience. They say that after each life has been lived, the soul that has progressed in some measure is somewhat placed on a higher ladder on the scale than that which has not. They then say that the souls/spirits that dont progress are all kept together in subsequent reincarnations. An analogy is a normal school system(Not the university though). after each year you are graduated to the next class, on and on over the years. And as is almost always the case we have pupils who haven't learnt the lessons of that particular class, and so they must repeat that class untill they pass the exam. And the same way the school authorities don't allow any student who has failed that class to move to the next class with those who have passed, so also souls that don't progress after a lifetime (or certain lifetimes) are not allowed to "move on" with the souls who have, and at such are not placed in the same country/region of the world, for the reason that they would stunt the growth of those who are progressing. As the saying goes, bad apples spoil good apples. So ultimately the people in Africa are the souls who have not progressed on as they should. And i think that can also be expanded to mean the dark skinned race. So from all this, just maybe u can see a pattern here. why Nigerians are the way we are, why Africa is the way it is. Basically because we are not 'progressive' spiritually, which in my opinion accounts for why we are not particularly progressive on the physical plane. This is as simple as i think i can make it. There is much more to it, and i'm not sure i'm in a position to expantiate, and even if i was i'm not sure i would wanna go into it. Now tell me people, does this make sense or not? I know there will be a zillion questions and reasons why this theory cannot hold water, but i'm sure there as many reasons/answers to them. I don't know them all (i'm not a member of the fellowship), but i'm sure they do. But i can use a little logic to answer a few basic questions that could come up. I will try my utmost best to use the logic i speak of to answer any questions that any1 might have, and others i cannot answer, i'll just have 2 direct you to the fellowship (http://www.rosicrucian.com.) Many will say that the reincarnation theory is just about nonsense on it's own merit, how much more the whole thing i have said. But remember that the truth is the truth even if you and many poeple don't believe it. just as 2+2 will always be 4, even if some people think it is 3 and so on and so forth. Well there it goes, hope you had a 'happy' reading. ![]() |
You can do a search for the terms "internet (turbo) accelator" I don't know if they work for real or are just hype to get money off you. Guess you'll have 2 research and make your own conslusions. I briefly used one called Linkserve Turbo. It was free then during the launch, dunno if it still is, and i didnt use it long enough to decide if it worked. I still have a copy of the setup file on my system if you cant find a free one online |
Funny enough, such concept occasionlly crosses my mind, but i closed in on real estate, which as you rightly say is just about the most secure investment porfolio in this clime, and i think real estate is even more secure. BUT, the challenges will be higher than mount everest. Such factors as you having credible names(backers,) enough money to do the ground work like massive sentitising of the public for a very loing time before the launch, which is more likely to make it a success, and many other such factors.... In my case, i approached the market, with an IPO kinda offer, stating categorically that the proceeds will be invested solely in real estate, stating all the advantages and all other benefits. The stock market at the moment is kinda "stagnant", if thats a good word to discribe it, it needs fresh investment outlets. But of course being real estate, it don't come cheap, so you'd be looking at waaaay more than 100m to make any effect. And so, just like any venture with promise, it is just about sure to succeed, if enough smart work is done. |
Just Found A "new" Isp I have come accross a number of posts asking for recomendations on a good ISP. Well take a look at www.coollink.us (of Cool FM fame.) I mailed them asking them a few questions and they answered pronto, which could suggest that their customer service is good. You can check them out. BUT, on the other hand you might be wiling to wait for starcomms, as it's for a fact that they will be launching a broad band internet service, but of because it will take them a while to have adequate coverage. So there you have it. |
Hmm.. a lappy ay.. That's risky... first off.. don't even go near fed ex... try ups.. BUT.. d sender MUST get a written commitment from them as to what happens if it gets to u in a damaged state or anything... and if its not good enuf, then find another way.. I recently read thru the policy thing of fed ex.. and it didnt sound encouraging.. it said something like in d case of damage or non delivery, they are only liable up to a certain amount, and they r governed by some international treaty of some sort.. And the amount wasnt enough to pay for my package... sheesh.. keep looking.. there must be a way.. just be cautious |
I second myname on that one... there will ALWAYS be the good guys (and girls) no matter what. I just might be in the same sit. where a much younger girl kinda looks up 2 me as a model/big brother figure.. and to think we only met online.. But for some reason i'm beggining to suspect she's taken a liking to me (still observing tho,) but unfortunatey if i decide she's getting emotional on me, i will have to set her straight.. even tho i suspect she won't like it.. So mmomi.. not all role models are d same.. as with everything else... |
Well lemme lend my voice here.. Okwy, that's where you (and a lot of other females.) get ot wrong.. There's nothing "unimproper" about a gurl making he intentions known to a guy... i would even dare say it's in her interest to do so, cos otherwise chances are that she could loose out on an otherwise good thing, just becos of some unwritten rule.. Times are chaging girlfriend.. in just about every aspect of life, females should join the wagon and change in this respect... Just my 5 kobo anyways.. ![]() |
In your own interest, don't even bother buying intercellular.. They are extremely lousy, i'm finding a way to ditch them |
I concur with MTS and their poor network coverage, but it seems they are improving in ther coverage. from the text messages they have been sending their customers in recent times. I bought their phone in january '05, but unfortunately they did not have coverage in my area, and they just gave me reception late december (11 whole months.) My personal honest (and possibly informed) opinion about internet in lagos is this: All the PTO/ISP's in lagos (and probably nigeria) are all crap and lousy in just about every service they offer. If it's not crazy exorbitant bills, it's lousy internet service, or customer service. what justification can multilinks, intercellular and co. give for charging $100 (15000 naira)/month for 24/7 DIAL UP? And this is dial up of the lowest order, its really about 14 kbps(forget that 112kbps they say.) So i would say, go with the cheapest since the most or more expensive dont offer anything (much) better. So i would pitch my tent with MTS and save me some dough. But i won't advice any1 to even go near intercellular. I have used 4 ISP's now, and they are irritatingly lousy. they can give some1 a heart attack if not careful. God help us with internet in 9ja. |
File an official compliant with both nigeria and US offices. That most likely won't do much good. The after you file, make as much noise as possible, especially at the nigerian end. Write to as many newspapers as possible, just take it public and cause them public embarassment, that will get them to sit up a bit as companies never ike bad press. Your story scares me WL because i've just had a parsel sent from the states through fed-ex and now i'm panicky. the package isn't anything special or bulky, but it cannot afford to not to get it. But all said and done, i'm almost certain it's the nigerian end that has done some dirty dealings as it's somewhat 2nd nature for such **ish to happen here, and thats where you need to make noise. And to thing you paid all that money. F****** that. |
, hmm, i wish all parties involved good luck, mos def lauryn is a smoking hottie, this guy knows a good thing when he see's one, lauryn lauryn lauryn, what can i say, i'm speechless, but im sure u know better, hugzzzz n kisses,
