jemype:hahaha. That's a good one. But these sites don't sell wives, and even if they did, would you REALLY want a 50K wife? Seriously ![]() |
If Konga.com or Jumia.com were having a special promotion where they said you could chose from any item on their website and it would be yours for free as their gift to you on your birthday. Just 2 conditions: 1. You tell them when your birthday is beforehand. 2. The price of the gift must be under N50K What birthday gift would you chose? |
Sexist:May you should try and reconnect with her? childhood friends are the most loyal, have the best memories, etc etc. |
k9:Nice. And I have a good friend who is Dec 31. |
divinehand2003:I doubt the info exists. Or does it mods and Seun? |
The home page of NL gives it's membership as 1,478,009 members. While this might and is probably the number of registered users, this is definitely not a good indicator of how active the site is. So, has there ever been any information on the number of Monthly Active Users(MAU) which is a more accurate indicator of how popular a website such as this is. This is the same way Twitter, Facebook and the likes refer to their website activity and popularity with regards to important metrics. |
Is there some sort of leaderboard on NL showing the most active users, or the users with the most posts? |
Just read the below and I am flabbergasted. Source: http://www.sowetanlive.co.za/news/2015/05/07/three-women-rape-man-steal-his-semen --- Three women raped a man and then made off with his semen, which they stored in a cooler box. Eastern Cape police are now searching for the trio who sped off in a black BMW. Police said the man was giving directions to the women when they held him at gunpoint in KwaZakhele township, Port Elizabeth, around 8am on Tuesday. Constable Mncedi Mbombo said the 33-year-old man was walking on Seyisi Road when three women in a black BMW stopped next to him to ask for directions to New Brighton. "As he was busy pointing out the directions, one lady came out and pointed a gun at him and forced him into the car. They drove into a thoroughfare 500m away. They parked the car and fondled him to get an erection," said Mbombo. "His penis could not get erect. They then forced him to drink an unknown substance from a bottle. This got him aroused quickly even though he was still scared and didn't want to have sex." He said the women collected the man's semen each time he ejaculated, put it in a small plastic bag and stored it in their cooler box. They are still at large after abandoning the man, and police have opened a case of rape. "This is really confusing to us because we have never heard of such a thing before. The man was fully conscious throughout his ordeal and he is still traumatised," said Mbombo. There has been a reported increase in cases of male rape by women in Gauteng. The women use a similar modus operandi, kidnapping their victims and forcing them to drink an unknown substance before raping them. No arrests have been reported in all these cases. |
Why limit it to your Birthday Mates on NL. Why not find out HOW MANY birthday mates you have around the world. But BETER still, connect and network with them on www.birthday-mates.com |
Torvicson:Not just 7th July. BUT also the same year as you. That's what the original post said. |
missKiffy:Nice. You both keep in touch? Still friends? Was it an exciting feeling when you found this out? |
DickDastardly:That is absolutely awesome. So you both birth mates and soul mates. Must be an extra special feeling. yes? |
Have you ever met someone born on the EXACT SAME Day, Month & Year as you? And of cos not referring to your Twin brother or sister. If so, share your experience |
Or feel free to mention your top 2. I'll start: 1. My first tennis racket i got on my 10th birthday. Tennis was my first love, hence why it was special. 2. A chess board I got on my birthday in 2010 from my friend in Holland. It was an ordinary chess board but what made it special is that it was personally autographed by a Dutch Chess Grandmaster Jan Timman . Chess was my second love. |
D34lw4p:Give me a way to contact you. |
pmjg:Not something I want to share in public at the time. Send me an email by clicking on my profile. Or, I'll do that now. Does it work? |
D34lw4p:occasional tasks on the website. basically website maintenance. If anything does wrong, like a bug, you fix it. If a new small feature needs to be added, the developer does this. etc etc. |
I just launched a startup in the niche social media scene and I am bootstrapping all the way. I am looking for a developer (or 2) to come be a partner on the startup. Main skills you need to know are html, php (codeigniter), java, javascript. Your task: The site is launched and is fully operational. But you will mainly be responsible for all technical tasks on the website. In essence site maintenance. If you might consider this, there is just one requirement: You must not be looking to get paid for your services beforehand. In exchange for this, you will receive anywhere from 10 - 25% of all income the site generates for 2 -5 consecutive years and possibly beyond, if you chose. (I think) the startup has great potential and my brother has jokingly said how I want to be the next Mark Zuckerberg (I wish.) But I will let you be the judge of the viability and potential of the startup. If interested, drop your comments, ask your questions, etc. And I will respond. BUT, this has to be in private. Not sure how you can send me a private message here, but I think you can send me an email here: https://www.nairaland.com/sendemail/k9 (I hope it works. If not, please suggest an alternative). Cheers. |
ril19:lol. i don't think they match according to nationalities, but according to birthdays. so definitely Americans, Zimbabweans, Vietnamese, North Koreans, etc will be matched together. lol. osesology:I think it is. the site is functional and i just even signed up.. looks nice. |
I found this article interesting... Source = http://www.completesportsnigeria.com/the-new-niche-social-networking-site-by-a-nigerian-that-will-be-bigger-than-twitter/ At least that’s what its founder says. There is a new social network in town. But not just any social network, a niche social network. And their niche is birthdays. Here’s another fact. The owner is Nigerian born but South African resident Kanayo Okwuraiwe. So what exactly is this niche social network of his called? And what’s it about? We asked him. Hear him… The social network is called Birthday Mates, and the website is www.birthday-mates.com. Birthday Mates is essentially a “birthday networking” site, just in the same way that LinkedIn is a “professional networking” site. What we essentially do is group people who share a common birthday—usually with 1 – 2 weeks of each other, give them an opportunity to have joint or group birthday celebrations (those in the same Geo location,) allow them exchange gifts with each other, as well as receive gifts from family and friends, create crowd funding campaigns for birthday gifts and other birthday related projects, and more. What makes our network unique is simply the niche we are in. Everyone on earth has a birthday, and the vast majority of these people mark this day in one way or another. Even if not in a celebratory way, but at the very least with a reflection and acknowledgement that they have lived another year on earth, and it is something to be grateful for. Birthday-Mates.com and all other ‘birthday mates’ of yours all over the world simply want to join you in that gratitude. In other words, we want to add value, in whatever way we can, to your birthday. And why do we think we can be a bigger site than the likes of Twitter and Instagram and co? For the exact reason I just mentioned. The fact that our target audience is everyone on planet earth. Or at least everyone with an internet connected device. So we are talking several billions. You see, unlike other social networks, or other niche social networks, ours is a universal niche which applies to everyone. As you will know, some people prefer being on Twitter, and some people prefer Facebook. Others on Instagram, and so on. So in that sense, people won’t have to “prefer” Birthday Mates over their preferred social network. And we are also not trying to “steal” anyone away from another social network. People can simply register on our site, get matched with their birthday mates, and they can decide to never visit the site again. Not until their birthday comes around, and we get in touch asking them if they are interested in spending their birthday with maybe 5 or 10 other people who share the same birthday (inviting whoever else they like.) Or ask the celebrant what gift he or she would like to receive on their birthday, perhaps courtesy of our sponsors, or perhaps even the celebrants’ family members, or any other fun thing we can do to make the person’s birthday a memorable one. That is what our site is all about. So head on over to Birthday Mate now and sign up |
Howdy, Does anyone here live in/around Century City/Milnerton Cape Town? Or do you know someone who does? |
I haven't and won't read all the posts leading up to mine, so pardon me if I "step on toes" as I think I might with what I say. First things first, Nigerians anywhere in the world should be able to tell anyone who starts to "misbehave" towards them because of this issue to go to hell and stay there, whether they wanna do it in a diplomatic manner or otherwise, whatever method you feel will get the message across best. The fact that some fool tried to blow up a plane has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the fact that he is Nigerian, it has more and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that he is MUSLIM. end of story. He didn't try to blow up the plane because he feels that America is mistreating Nigerians in their country, or anywhere else, he did so cos he feels America and the west are treating MUSLIMS unfairly. So it is not a nationality issue, it is a RELIGIOUS issue. So Americans, and Britons and other nationals who act stupidly and act like fools towards Nigerians on this topic should wake up and smell the coffee. So people, please remind or ask these fools what the nationality is of the people who blew up the trains and buses in london on 07/07(British born, jamaican born, but most or all lived/grew up in uk), or ask them the nationality of the Shoe Bomber of Flight 63 in 2001 (British), or ask them the nationalities of the 2006 Toronto terrorism case where 5 people almost blew up some buildings in Toronto (pakistan, egypt, canadian, etc.) or is it the Oklahoma City bombing in 1995 (Americans), or the Barley bombings, or the bombings in spain and so so so so many more. Or the nationalities of the many people who have shot up high schools in america, or any of the sick things that happens in america by their nationals, What was the freaking nationalities of the actors of these acts? were they not nationals of many many countries of the world, INCLUDING UK AND US, the 2 countries who many of their nationals are acting like numbskulls now. HAVE THEY FORGOTTEN HISTORY? WHY DID THEY NOT VIEW EACH OF THEIR CITIZENS AFTER THESE ACTS AS POTENTIAL TERRORISTS. So let them do us a favor and shut the freaking bleep up On the contrary, one similarity ALMOST ALL OF THEM have is the fact that they are muslims. So again, do not fail to remind any of these people: Obama and his advisers, the "pricks" at the airport, while only doing "their job" to back off and lighten up on their attitude. At the end of the day, because the Nigerian government is largely peopled by incompetent fools (and I call them fools by virtue of their actions in government, as opposed to their personal/non-official acts: I am conscious to separate the man/woman from their office), it is up to the everyday Nigerian, the world over, to stand up and stop all this nonsense. Imagine the insult labeling Nigeria as terrorist breeding ground. If we are bombers, will we not have bombed these animalistic politicians out of office, until they will all be afraid to run for office, and only those who have the brains and will to serve the public will vie for office, and consequently Nigeria will be on the road to be a more bearable place to live in ![]() I can go on and on and as 'intelligently' as I can and with little to no emotion involved which these yanks and brits obviously cannot do, give 'intelligible' reasons why any Nigerian has every right to tell any body in any part of the world to go to hell, or whatever suits your fancy, when they start bringing up the "Nigerian terror bomb plot". While it might not change anything, if it makes you feel better, then at least you don't go "down" without a fight, Anyways, I gat other stuff to do, so immo sign out, |
A friend of mine in Indonesia told me that at some point, Paypal and Clickbank also did not deal with people from their country. i.e register for account (PP) and accept CC payments (CB). What they did was collate as many signatures as possible and wrote a petition letters to these companies asking/demanding them to do offer they services to them. Eventually it paid off as you can open a PP/CB from that place now. You guys might wanna consider doing this at some point in time. A few things to consider 1. Get as many pple to sign that petition. 2. Possibly let these signatures indicate their online e-commerce activities/sites, which requires the use of these services. 3. Possibly get some financial institutions to sign that petition, THIS MIGHT BE POWERFUL 4. Keep writing them till they listen to you. 5. Ask for other creative ideas. In due time, I believe they will bow to pressure -We hope, and get off they high horse. |
I used orderbay once and it's all good. But I must say that the only issue I had with them, though it may not necessarily be their making, was the fee I had to pay to Customs to receive my goods -20K, though I bid it down to 10k. My grouse with orderbay was they did not state/stress this fact, that I could possibly be xpected to pay a fee to customs. Otherwise they all Good. |
For the non-tech person, or perhaps anyone else, the true test of a broadband connection is if it carry voice AND s treaming video with very limited/minimal buffering. This IS the true test of a highspeed connection. Some can carry Voice relatively well, and video with some degree of streaming, and this can be acceptable. Nuff said. |
hmm, r u gonna make force it outa u? lol. common girl, do tell. and where exactly r u? |
Viante, which sister do u mean. Irene or Isi. If it is Irene, please oh, lemme at her. I had a mad crush on the girl at one point in time. I wanna know if the vibes still exist. ![]() |

Might I add, I've sold a few things on ebay several times. and I paid my seller fees using my 9ja issued Mastercard and they gladly accepted my money. It's usually all these smaller merchants who don't honor 9ja cards. yes they are being careful, but sometimes they are also just plain stupid. Paypal and 9ja Debit cards, FORGET IT. |
The major, if not the only problem lies with the banks themselves. ALL banks that issue Mastercard/Visa cards are guilty of this crime. They are NOT doing enough to address the problem of non-acceptance of Nigerian issued credit/debit cards. Full stop. They can do so much more, but their inherent talent for generally lousy customer service does not allow them do more. They can do such things as pull their weight together and put pressure on Mastercard/Visa to encourage online merchants to stop rejecting 9ja issued cards. They also can contact merchants who refuse to honor a 9ja issued card and ask/insist that the card be honored. Instead they sit on their asses and collect the yearly fees and all what not. I have a card from intercontinental, which I use more for subscriptions and anything that does not involve physical shipping. The first time I tried to have something shipped to me, the transaction went through and the email said my goods would be shipped the next day. I got a mail the next say saying they don't ship internationally, and that my order was not processed and my card would not be charged. Month end comes, and I see a charge in my statement of account for the transaction in question. Long story short, it took Intercontinental bank almost 4 months to get my money back. After uncountable calls checking up on them and sitting on their asses. This is the second time I've had to ask that a chargeback be made. The first time took almost 5 months. Now, whenever I have to ship physically, I send to my cousin in the US who ships to 9ja regularly. She just includes my stuff in her paackage and it gets to me in about 2-3 weeks. Bottom line, we will get there eventually, we can only wish these stupid (and I'm almost tempted to say the silly people who run these banks) banks would help us get there faster. |

we both did our IT together
