BusinessRe: Business Banking Nigeria (transfering Money Uk To Nigeria - Nigeria To Uk) by k9(m): 7:34pm On Aug 26, 2006
Union and first banks have subsidiaries or so in UK. Otherwise most if not all banks have relationships with correspondent banks in major cities of the world. Transfers won't be a problem, perhaps as you say, it'll all depend on the cost of transfers. Well call them up and ask each one of 'em. directly. There would be other ways to do this, but how willing would you be to take the risk?

ComputersRe: Wimax In Abuja, Nigeria Using Alvarion Breezemax System by k9(m): 7:37pm On Aug 12, 2006
John S: are you sure what DOPC has is WIMAX? I'm not sure even they know themselves as I have asked repeatedly and got a blank. "fixed broadband wireless" is what they always say. Like there aren't diff types of wireless technologies. sigh!

My opinion. yes wireless is the way to go, but the people with the money don't have the brains to know this nor listen to those who know. If starcomms is now rolling out EV-DO some years after they came out with their dial up, why didn't they just start with broadband wireless when they came out. but no. And now that they do, they give you a bill of 20K/month while their peers are charging under 8k. We have a long way to go with internet connectivity in 9ja I tell ya.
ComputersRe: Wanna Buy My Ibm Laptop For 5k? by k9(op): 8:51pm On Aug 11, 2006
haha, well yes I need the dough, but not how you mean. If i'm that desperate I know more certain and faster ways to get it. I'm just trying to be nice. that all. I have 3 options. sell it, leave it to spoil away (finish) or give it away. I choose option 1 or 3. But if u nice I can give it to you. grin

HA. Yeah right, 5K indeed. in your dreams pal. More like 50K. but it's very negotiable

Any1 want to take my old IBM 600X laptop off me? It's very reliable and hasn't given me any major problem in the 3 years I've had it. I'm seelling because I got a new one and It's going to waste away with no use.

It's a P3, 128 RAM, 11GB, 498 Mgz, DVD ROM, 1 USB port, Windows XP pro. BUT it has some minor issues. The DVD rom is busted but 5-7 K will fix the problem, the battery lasts about 50 minutes, a few scratches here and there on the body. Any1 interested drop me a line on yahoo IM: topdog9926 or (here if necessary). and i'll give my phone #. I'm located in the lagos area.

I took the picture in a hurry, but hope it's good enough. Holla back.

BusinessRe: To Get Legitimate Credit Cards in Nigeria by k9(m): 11:50pm On Jul 28, 2006
Isrealy, persoonally I don't think this is the "right" place to be taking up this issue. You probably won't have the strength to take up the case with CBN, but a shorter and equally effective way is to take your experience public. have your story published in as many newspapers as you can, and when it is published, try and have it published again and again from another angle. People hearing about such in public will be sceptical bot doing biz with them, and if by chance you don't get your money back, then be assured that you woulda made a dent in their image, as far as their mastercard is concerned. If your $ was deducted without your knowledge/approval, then UBA has an obligation to look into the matter. Woe betide the company that will do such to me. I sure know how to make a lotta noise.

oh puleez, i'm working on smething that I think will help any body from this part of the world be able to solve the paypal/US bank account/ebay and other such "myths", I just don't know when it will be ready, but i'm fine tunning it. perhaps someday i'll let the secret out of the bag. barring any unforseen circumstances. that is of course if i can "stay the course".
ComputersRe: Any1 Here Live In The Isolo Area And Have Intenret At Home? Who's Your Isp? by k9(op): 9:12pm On Jul 23, 2006
Thanks. even though I am plain sick of dial up and would try all i can to get broadband if possible, the only dial up i would go for is multilinks, (or ITN), even tho i hate the idea of paying $100 for dial up. unheard of in the civilized or subcivilized world. But like i said in another post, I have solved the probelm, perhaps for now.
ComputersRe: My ISP (Intercellular) Is Blocking Secure Sites (HTTPS) by k9(op): 9:10pm On Jul 23, 2006
Bolaji (and hayprof), thanks for the advice. Well in truth my ISP is that stupid and more to firewall secure sites, even tho they say it's from their backbone. BULL. But I have found a way around it, which means, as u say their engineers aren't good enuf. some1 made a suggestion https://www.nairaland.com/nigeria/topic-5425.32.html#msg514212 and i tried it, and it worked. Tho my technical knowhow aint that deep, I just wonder if there are security implications for my data using this, but i'm on it.

ComputersMy ISP (Intercellular) Is Blocking Secure Sites (HTTPS) by k9(op): 6:32pm On Jul 22, 2006
Is It Possible To Bypass My Isp's Firewall. They Won't Lemme Access Secure Sites

I have been experiencing a problem for looong time now. My problem is I cannot access secure sites (http'S'), which kills my browing xperience, (its crazy) and when I do i have 2 refresh d page 100 times which i never do. I always suspected it was my old laptop, thot it had some worms or malware and rubbish. but i just changed lappy's and I still have d same problem, and i thot, these mf***ers of an ISP have been messing wit me all these months, I call them and they confirm, they say their backbone has firewalled secure sites because of spam and rubbish, i hold maself from cursing d guy/his company, INTERCELLULAR (they the biggest bitches in the ISP game i tell ya.) and i swear i will not renew ma subscription with them when it xpires soon, that is y I need to find a good enough replacement ASAP. but that's proving a daunting task.

So in the event that I cannot find a replacement soon enough and i'm 'forced' 2 renew with the pricks is there a way i can bypass the firewalls and access secure sites? Keep in mind this is just plain secure sites and i aint doing any so called illegal thing like file sharing or the likes. I can't do stuff like log in to check my bank account details, and any site where I have to put in secure personal details, Is there a way out. I cannot afford not to be connected (and not access secure sites), specially at this point in time,

Thanks for any help.

Peeps, I'm gonna ask a lotta Q's and make a lotta comment. even if in bits and pieces,
@ Ibrahim, who is your ISP.huh (are you in lagos) I have been experiencing the same thing for looong time now. My problem is I cannot access secure sites, which kills my browing xperience, (its crazy) and when I do i have 2 refresh d page 100 times which i never do. I always suspected it was my old laptop, thot it had some worms or malware and shit. but i just changed lappy's and I still have d same problem, and i thot, these mf***ers of an ISP have been messing wit me all these months, I call them and they confirm, they say their backbone has firewalled secure sites cos of spam and shit, i hold maself from cursing d guy/his company, INTERCELLULAR (they the biggest bitches in the ISP game i tell ya.) and i swear i will not renew ma subscription with them wen it xpires soon, dats y I need to find a good enuf replacement ASAP. but that's proving a daunting task.

So in the event that I cannot find a replacement soon enuf and i'm 'forced' 2 renew with the pricks It seems what u'all have been talking bout here might be a way out. So Ibrahim, have u found a way around their firewall. (i still wanna know if it's the same animalistic ISP we use.)

@c0dec and gbengaijot, are you sure this IRC will bypass a ISP (backbone?) firewall, and hope it aint some crazy ass prog dat will clog up ma system.?

@ everyone else knowledgable in the matter, Is there a way out. I cannot afford not to be connected (and not access secure sites), specially at this point in time,

@ killmon. I feel u 120%.

Damn, I hope y'all come back to read this post, its been ages sinece some1 said anything, guess im a late comer huh,
ComputersRe: Any1 Here Use Or Know Any1 Who Usees Direct On Pc Fixed Wireless Internet. by k9(op): 11:00pm On Jul 20, 2006
who's your dsl provider? 'Tis strange to hear that dsl service is crap, but then again just about every service provided in 9ja is crap or below expectation. I was at DOPC office today. Will arrange to go back and have a test run of their service, while stil trying 2 sample public opinion on their service quality.

BTW, can I ask what part of town you are in? Tho I can take a wild guess as very few places in lag provide dsl (i think),

U wanna get cable internet? are u ready to be paying fone bills?, oh well,

AdvertsRe: Forex Charts For The Naira by k9(m): 10:43pm On Jun 27, 2006
If you d/load d software of any forex dealer, like FXCM. you can get a chart showing as far back as 6 months or 1 year (i think) you just have 2 adjust the settings. You wont get any chart on the naira cos as was said the naira, and other such c is not really tradable, thoeretically it is possible, but practically its not. because d main or 'only' thing we trade in oil (and other such currencies) and because of its nature not a very tradeable commodity at such.
