Research the October 2020 hostage rescue of an American citizen in Nigeria by DEVGRU and familiarize yourself with what it truly means to run and support a tier 1 unit mission before you continue on this chest thumping parade.

Tier 1 status is earned from tactical and battlefield experience, tough lessons learnt from losses in realtime. That's why, for all their failed missions, the US military will continue to maintain dominance over China's ; nothing beats real life experience when it comes to war.

And there is nothing like Nigeria's version of tier 1, there is only a universal standard, which this particular unit is no where close to attaining.

The Ukrainians may run tier 1 missions, but these are mostly based on Western Intelligence, Western provided equipment, training and support, which could easily serve as the perfect cover for American operatives to conduct reconnaissance, assault and credit the Ukrainians, with plausible deniability.
Tier 1 status is earned from tactical and battlefield experience, tough lessons learnt from losses in realtime.

This comment here can be said of all specialized units operating in Africa.

This your description is not limited to the US armed services alone, and I can tell you for free that the DSS has conducted, many complex operations of recent. I'm just too lazy to post sources for you.

Again you need to understand my point, the capabilities of the US armed services significantly out-weigh that of Nigeria, but the missions Nigerian armed services conduct are just as complex.

You correctly cited an example of a DEVGRU mission in Nigeria, but you ignore the fact Nigerian armed services have also routinely carried those sort of operations, including many that are more complex than the example you have cited.

So it's not about chest beating, the unit that has the best capability to conduct complex missions in Nigeria is the DSS STATT.

Hence they are Nigeria's Tier 1 unit.

I mean, the DSS operates armed UCAVs.

Does this unit have the capability to infiltrate a neighbouring country, stir civil unrest, orchestrate a coup, insert a puppet regime and exfil undetected?
Do they have the capability to conduct a hostage rescue in any other AOR outside of ECOWAS in 36-72 hour notice?
Instead of roleplaying scenarios, this unit's so called tier 1 capability should be put to better use at the regional front in West Africa with the ever growing reach of armed groups.
You're now attributing the role of an organization(The CIA) to a single unit/Team.

The DSS is Nigeria's primary domestic intelligence unit, it's not the responsibility of the DSS to conduct operations in West Africa.

Again context matters here, I'm not comparing the capabilities of world powers to Nigeria. I'm only saying that in a Nigerian environment, the DSS STATT is our Tier 1 unit.

Congratulations to Nigeria on the very well equipped operators, but I'll have to correct you on the use of the term "tier 1".
That term is very loosely thrown around in recent times, and in this scenario is inaccurate.
Tier 1 teams achieve the status not from equipment, but training and the missions they run. There is no tier 1 team on the continent, and very few even amongst the world's strongest militaries.
In the US, with the most publicized tier 1 ODA's, only DELTA and DEVGRU attain that status, and there is no military on the continent capable of providing the support a tier 1 team would need to run a mission.
You're taking my description too literally.

What I mean Tier 1 in a Nigerian context is, the best Tactical Team Nigeria has to offer.

Also I don't really agree with your classification of a Tier 1 Team, except you have been on missions with these teams, you can't definitely say they are incapable of running complex missions.

The USA has the best supported and Trained teams but we regularly see that they go on failed missions.

I mean only recently we got to know of their failed operation in North Korea.

A couple of years ago French Special forces were clapped hard in Somalia during a failed rescue mission.

Then their are operations like Operation Spiderweb carried out by Security Services of Ukraine.

So what and who defines a tier 1 team.

Ukraine doesn't have a Tier 1 Team on paper, but they regularly carry out Tier 1 missions.

So what and who defines what a Tier 1 Team is?

In my opinion the classification Tier 1 is determined by the complex missions a team can undertake.

In this context, Nigeria's Tier 1 Team is DSS STATT.

Nothing new here. Nigeria is not a serious country.

A country that felicitate with outsiders when there is a tragedy and ignores it's own.

A country that abandons it's hero's and rewards sports people with millions.

A country where runs girls make more money than hard working people.

A country where the president takes treatment abroad while neglecting our hospitals.
My question is to you, what impact have you made in the society for the betterment for your immediate environment?

The war between Israel and Iran is another reminder, nobody goes to war alone.

If you're going to go to war, build a coalition, when the US eventually, inevitably enters this war, it would be done and dusted for all of Iran's conventional capabilities.

They'll have to switch to guerrilla tactics in the event of a ground invasion. Also apart from the war in Korea and Vietnam, it's always better to be a US ally than a Russian or Chinese ally.

Good, our politicians in Nigeria understand this.

It's almost impossible for Russia and China to provide you enough military support to stay in a fight. Both countries are able to defend themselves, but they lack the capability to project power beyond their respective regions unlike the US.

I just hope our military planners are taking important lessons from the various conventional conflicts going on across the globe.

Also there's been no evidence showing aircraft losses by the IDF.

Especially when you take into account Iran has what's considered to be a good Ground Based Air Defence System.

They’re for profit entities that report what brings them the most views. CNN knows that her viewership holds skeptical views of both Israel and Iran. So they tend to stick to the facts unlike Fox that has all but become part of IDFs media office.
This is the problem with Main Stream Media.

Yeah. The truth is that it will be difficult to neutralize Iran and secondly, the stakes are really high. I don’t think, Russia and China (China especially) will resist the temptation of supplying iran with SAMs if this thing prolongs.

The best thing for the world currently is a ceasefire.
I've been reading reports that China, Russia, Pakistan and Turkey have been supporting the Iranian effort covertly.

The fact is, Israel has quite a capable military, but Iran is no Hezbollah or Hamas.

CNN is actually quite authentic as far as Middle East conflict is concerned. They’re legit for Middle East conflict.

They have decades of experience with the Middle East, and they’ve significantly become more centrist and fact based in reporting about Israel.
Unfortuantely what happens most at times with legacy media is you have reporters pushing down their opinions on viewers.

I miss when the news was about reporting events, not opinions or Agendas.

CNN used to be a trustworthy, reliable news source, but that has all changed. They are all pushing left wing agendas or Right wing agendas.

It's exhausting!!!

Nowadays most people go just go on X for the news, their almost always first hand visual evidence of what's going on in the world.

CAS ENGAGES US PARTNERS TO FAST-TRACK ACQUISITION OF AH-1Z HELICOPTERS FOR NAF

As part of efforts to strengthen the Nigerian Air Force’s operational capabilities, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Bala Abubakar, led a high-powered delegation to San Diego, California, for a Programme Management Review Meeting on the acquisition of 12 AH-1Z Viper attack helicopters. The strategic engagement, held from 9–13 June 2025, involved key representatives from the US Government and Messrs Bell Textron. The CAS expressed deep gratitude to the US for its strategic partnership, affirming the NAF’s commitment to a seamless and expedited procurement and integration process that will greatly enhance combat effectiveness and mission readiness.

The visit also took the CAS to Camp Pendleton, where he interacted with the United States Marine Corps' HMLA-367 and MALS-39 Squadrons—both central to the AH-1Z platform’s operation and maintenance. He inspected the helicopters firsthand and discussed best practices in operation, sustainment, and logistical support with USMC officials. The engagement was a key knowledge-sharing opportunity, equipping the NAF with insights necessary for successful deployment and long-term support of the AH-1Z helicopters.

Air Marshal Abubakar reaffirmed the NAF’s unwavering commitment to the effective utilisation of all air assets in the fight against terrorists, bandits, and criminal elements, with a focus on restoring peace and protecting innocent lives and property. He also extended heartfelt appreciation to the President and Commander-in-Chief, His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for his visionary leadership and steadfast support, describing the progress of the AH-1Z project as a reflection of the President’s commitment to enhancing national security.

Speaking without sentiment. It’s not. CNN has an extensive array of journalists reporting on both sides and current reports are saying that there’s very significant damage in both Tehran and Jerusalem.

Ballastic missiles have very little limitations. They travel at hypersonic speeds up to Mach 25 and thus are difficult to intercept. US homeland mid course defense systems have to launch four missiles to bring the intercept rate of a single launched North Korean missiles close to 90 percent.

That’s the reason they make up the core of nuclear deterrent for major countries. It increases the certainty that you will be hit regardless of what defenses you’ve got.
I have to admit i was wrong about Iran.

Iranian response have been quite impressive.

Hypersonic missiles are very capable in dealing with Air Defences, they've been very difficult for Israel to shot down.

Especially when you take into account Israel is receving significant help from the US, Britain, France and Jordan. Iran is at a significant disadvantage, but they've been able to deliver a stunning response package.
