so it could be anytime as soon as the space gotten is ready which could be anytime. The new building opposite CBN headquarters could not be ready as far September as promised ,it will be ready next year. Therefore, they have to secure a space to accommodate new intakes.Though ,a space have been secured ,just finishing touches. It is being processed which could be ready anytime. Patient is the key. Everything is finished apart from office space. That one is in their hands to facilitate it quickly to make it ready .

So the link is just link to the site but because we already submitted once i login it just gives u access to the education column and summary only.....so i think if you haven't submitted go back to higher education in your form try and delete the entry for higher education u initially put, then try to refill hopefully the date column should now be there for you.....

CreekOne:

Thank you. But I hadn’t submitted earlier because I didn’t have a professional certificate. Do you have the link, please ?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Monthly Net Salary Of Federal Government Ministries, departaments, Agencies And P by kachii77: 2:35pm On Aug 20
Errrm they sent a link for it ....if u had submitted application before you would see a place to delete the previous higher education entry ....and then u reenter the same info u deleted provided it was accurate u would see column to add the year info...after adding it you go to summary then resubmit

CreekOne:
Good morning everyone. Please how does one input Graduation Year for Higher Education in the NNPC recruitment portal ? Thank you

What are your motivations first…a lot of people have different motivations for choosing a role …if yours is salary then Ncc is a bit better in terms of legimate allowances but in terms of extra side illegimate Npa suppose give more as u grow up the cadre ….these days I hear some places are choked up more than the other which might lead to growth being stifled ..as an accountant do u prefer IT terminologies to Cargo shipping terminologies in order words would u enjoy job in ports authority as against telecommunications..still boils down to preference….some I know left Ncc and Japa …another left Ncc for oil industry ….while some others want to enter ..it just depends on what ur comfy with

This particular one wasn't Saville tho ....(it had a mix of numerical, verbal, critical analysis, problem solving, logical, behavioral all in one)

The Saville i wrote previously ( was usually numerical, verbal , logic , then subject related) but can't tell if it's going to be the same format this year)

Investment / Re: Why You Should Never Invest In Shares As A Minority Shareholder by kachii77: 6:19pm On Jun 29
Evening bro pls I sent u a mail

AmiableMosquito:
WHY YOU SHOULD NEVER INVEST IN SHARES AS A MINORITY SHAREHOLDER

This is based on my personal experience and that of my parents. Investing in shares is better for those who are acquiring majority shareholding or are into frequent trading of stocks. Don’t ever make the mistake of long-term investments as a minority shareholder in Nigeria.

Shares of over 4m naira I acquired in 2008 is now worth about 900,000 in 2024.
About 3000 units Omega Bank shares (purchased in 2005) and over 2000 units of Platinum Bank shares (purchased in 2008) had to be forfeited because the companies were delisted from the Nigerian Stock Exchange. What then is the function of SEC if they cannot protect investors?
10000 units of AP petroleum shares I bought at 250 naira per unit in 2008 became less than 18 naira per unit after Ardova PLC took over AP Petroleum. Now, Ardova has also been delisted without any assurance of pay-out. All that money gone down the drain.

AP shares manipulation.
You impose a fine of only N500,000 after investors have lost billions. Nothing was said about refunding investors.

https://guardian.ng/business-services/shareholders-kick-against-buyout-price-of-ardovas-minority-stakes/
Shareholders kick against buyout price of Ardova’s minority stakes. (The news article has been pulled down by Guardian)

Imagine buying shares at N250 per unit and ending up with N17 naira after few years.

20,000 units of Transcorp Limited shares I bought at 14 naira per share in 2008 is now 10.80naira in 2024. Investing in shares as a minority shareholder is no different from forex gambling or is just a tad better than sports gambling.

The Dangote Flour Mill shares my mum owned was sold to Olams yet the registrars have refused to pay the shareholders. They said they returned the money to SEC and SEC has been promising to pay since 2019.

https://www.icirnigeria.org/n120bn-dangotes-payoff-since-2019-drags-as-sec-keeps-silent-on-investors-money/

https://fij.ng/article/lamido-yuguda-led-sec-withholds-over-12bn-shareholders-funds-for-years/#:~:text=Investigations%20by%20THECONSCIENCEng%2C%20a%20Nigerian,years%2C%20citing%20countless%20administrative%20bottlenecks.

https://sunnewsonline.com/shareholders-kick-as-sec-keeps-mum-over-alleged-hoarding-of-n12bn-investors-funds/

Before Intercontinental Bank was sold to Access Bank, my mum held 4000 shares in ICB. However, the acquisition clause was that for every 8 units you hold in ICB, you will get only 1 unit in Access Bank. This is the same with Diamond Bank where I had 1000 shares. For every 7 units you hold in Diamond Bank, you will get only 2 units in Access Bank. This is also our experience with Oceanic Bank after its acquisition by Ecobank. There are many of such shares that we own that are now almost valueless or totally lost because of mergers, delisting, winding down of companies etc.

DIVIDENDS
My mum has thousands of shares in over 30 Companies yet she barely got a total of N40,000 from annual dividends last year. The thousand of shares I own in several companies also own pay a very paltry sum as annual dividends. These are shares that were bought with substantial amounts of money almost a decade ago (for me) and several decades ago for my mum.

Again, if you are not a major investor with hundreds of millions or perhaps billions and you are not a frequent trader, please stay away from the stock market, it will impoverish you on the long run.
Imagine how AP petroleum (I don’t want to mention a person’s name) made away with investors money. Look at Heritage Bank that was recently delicensed, what is the fate of the minority shareholders? SEC will not protect you. That is another agency the government needs to put a spotlight on. Too many news articles about their scandalous operations online. I will share some here.

Since SEC cannot protect small investors, is it not better to scrap the commission instead of wasting revenue on paying bogus salaries to them?

If you want to invest, please invest in real estate or gold. These two almost always never fail.

Picture 1: Shares certificate of Omega bank acquired in 2005 but which is no longer redeemable. Money gone down the drain.

Picture 2: Receipt of shares acquired in 2008. Nigerian breweries was bought at 50 per share then, but it is now 31.90. Platinum Bank was bought at 23 per unit but it is no longer redeemable. Another money gone down the drain. WAPCO was purchased at 55 naira, it is now 34 naira. Dangote Flour purchased at 26.40 per share is what SEC has refused to pay since 2019 after the acquisition by OLAMS.

Picture 3: The response I got from NGX after enquiring about some shares.

And with all these, we are made to believe the Nigerian stock market is currently at its best since inception. I am compelled to ask, what will now be the fate of investors if the stock market is not at its best?
Jobs/Vacancies / Re: Totalenergies EP Nigeria 2024 Recruitment by kachii77: 5:24pm On Jun 29
I remember this clearly because I missed the follow up test later as I thought they had sent the rejection mail already

OT17:

It's important to note at this point that TotalEnergies send an auto generated regret mail after 90 days or so after application. Many at times people who get this auto generated regret mail still get to proceed to the next level in the recruitment process. This happened very well at the Total recruitment of 2019. While it's important that we do not attach much emotions to the whole recruitment process it's equally important to remain optimistic regardless of the REGRET MAIL. Cheers!

I just got two jobs:
1. Federal Hospital Job - ₦95,000 monthly
2. General Manager of a subsidiary of a big pharmaceutical company - ₦500,000 monthly.

I have been out of job for 2yrs before these employments, I have really suffered that in those 2years, where my family have disowned cos I have been so poor and hopeless.

Now I want to make the right choice, which job should I pick cos I'm also thinking of japa very soon

My little take is it depends on ur long term. If ur short to medium term plan is japaing u'll need funds ...and lots of it considering u are trying to recover from recession. If ur ur long term plan was nigeria I would have reluctantly gone with the government job but that would be after I have know about other perks

Also the gap b/w the funds in the private and govt job is too wide ....if it was a case of max 2 and half times higher than the government i would have suggested government esp if ur plan was to remain in Nigeria

Also with private firms where ever they pay decent ..apart from ioc, telecoms, oil and gas servicing companies...u'll need to know more about the role and company....if the company has been existing for long ..u could check LinkedIn to see if u can dialog with previous or current staff members to get an idea of the work environment. If its a startup ...except ur very good work pressure wise I would advise against it

If u take up the private u have to settle ur debts and immediately start putting plans in motion for japa now inflow is coming in...because that is d mistake a lot of ppl make they keep procrastinating and procrastinating ...assuming all things work out well within a few years u can japa...and incase things at the company dont go straight forward...at least u'll have the funds to japa

during interview u might still need to mention ur name in a tell me about urself question tho

airsaylongcome:
So the Group exercise is the one that most people tend to focus on, but in my opinion is the least difficult. Maybe because I was already a team lead having meetings with Senior management for the company my employers provided services for. Straight out of NYSC, I worked as a team lead for a 3PL service provider to P&G and I regularly used to have meetings with senior P&G management from Geneva and Ohio. So I had learned the nuances of meetings and action points.

In the group exercise, there were two groups of 10 that had to discuss and agree on action points for an event organized by the hypothetical employer. Think of Access Bank marathon and the meeting(s) that are held behind closed doors for the event to successfully hold. Our group exercise task was very similar to one that would have been held by Access Bank execs.

I was in group A so I will talk about how I remember the events from group A. We were all given tags. A1 to A10. And that was our name for the whole day as we interacted with the NLNG recruitment team. We were never to introduce ourselves by our real names. Only by our assigned "names". The purpose of this, I later learned, was so that members of the recruitment team don't get influenced by our names. For example, I'm Urhobo with a very Urhobo first name (although I have been told I look Igbo and have had Igbo people speak Igbo to me under the assumption that I'm Igbo because of my "looks". Ndi-igbo kwezuenu! Shout out to 042 Abacha geng. I served with Imo, Anambra and Enugu people and the only Igbo I "learned" was how to clean a plate of Abacha). Anyway, as I was saying, we used only our assigned names so that, for example, an Urhobo person on the recruitment team doesn't get swayed by my name and start being "lenient" with me. So much about connection. Ndi NEPA connectors.

same , can't place my hand on exactly what went wrong but another thing is also course of study and a bit of luck also if for example they wanted to choose top 5 in petroleum engineering and u came 6th in petroleum engineering but first in ur state i believe there is a high chance ur slot goes to the next highest non petroleum course till they balance up a bit and i think there is also now 1 automatic slot for the highest performing female in each state if i recall correctly....a lot of factors are considered..when i was applying i knew fgm would likely favour more than uk if am being honest but the thing is FGM doesn't appeal to me that much if am being honest. so I just decided to stick with UK, I put in for msc elect elect, from abia

Liebermann:

I was asked about who sponsored my studies up to that point but I didn't think it would play too much of a role. Maybe it did and maybe it didn't, like I said, it's just a theory. I too had solid O levels, plus maximum possible scores across the board. My state is probably the most competitive in the North though so I can't really say that's why I wasn't selected.

I know one person who got the scholarship with a foreign degree but she studied in another African country so I don't know if that counts. Ironically, she graduated with a 2:2 and she was from my state. Whatever the case is, I wasn't shocked about the outcome because I was already prepared for the worst and I have a lot of things going for me anyway.

If I do choose to apply again, I'm definitely changing my program and possibly State if I can. I could switch from the UK as well but FGM doesn't really appeal to me. I'm trying to see If I can defer the admission I have now because it's for a very prestigious programme and I don't want to have to ask my tutors to submit reference letters for me again. These are the improvements I have settled on. Which State are you from and which programme and country did you apply for If I may ask?

Education / Re: Apply For 2022/2023 PTDF Overseas Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme by kachii77: 4:27pm On Aug 14, 2022
interesting view, I believe the bulk of ptdf selection is merit based though. An interesting theory u had on candidates with foreign self sponsored degree. I believe my interview went very well also, but my interviewers kept harping on about why I came back to Nigeria that I should have just continued to my 2nd degree or straight to phd and beyond abroad like my first degree.. mind u I had A's and B in waec and a C, first class first degree, 5 professional membership etc. but he kept saying there is no reason for me to be back here. In fact at a point he had to tell another panelist in another panel about my profile as I was about leaving that he sees no reason why I should here.

Liebermann:

No need for the sour grapes. There may be some who made the list due to favoritism but the majority of people made it out of merit as far as I can tell. You must understand that merit for them is also very subjective. All those calculations about O Level, class of degree, etc are absolutely not as useful as people purport them to be. If it all boiled down to that there is no way I won't be on this list. I've googled the successful candidates in my state, nothing impressive about their profile but I'm not mad about it because like I said, it's very subjective. Statement of purpose though seems to play a very big role and your program of choice is similarly important. For me, I think they may have some discrimination against people with self-sponsored foreign degrees already but it's just a theory.

This is why I kept telling people to temper their expectations. The chances are very slim and the more you convince yourself you deserve it the more devastated you'll end up being. The process looks very structured but their selection criterion is so arbitrary that it comes down to luck, grace, provenance, whatever you want to call it.

Not making the list is not the end of the world. There are so many opportunities out there. But If you really believe this is the best option you have then stop feeling sorry for yourself. Fine-tune your profile and do whatever it takes to improve your chances then try again when the scholarship is advertised in December. Congratulate those who were successful and move on.
