Well if Nigerians are willing to pay , why has total removal of subsidy been opposed since 1993 when it was first proposed?

The refineries do not work because when you sell petrol below the cost of its production, there is no money for upgrades and other stuff

Plus since NNPC staff still get their salaries paid ( their salary does not depend on the profits or loss of the NNPC; they are treated as highly paid civil servants) there is no incentive to keep things working.

Between those two reasons, that's why the refineries failed over two th three decades.

The truth is Nigerian oil magnates are just ok with getting rent from the IOC. The people profiting from the malady in the oil industry do not want it to work.

And they will fight for the status quo to remain. The common wealth of the nation is in their hands.

We cannot have functional refinereis because Nigerians want to buy fuel below its cost of production per liter...and want government to pay a subsidy that does not adequately cover the resulting loss to the petroleum industry

It is for that same reason that we have 20 inactive licenses for refineries in Nigeria because no private investor wants to come and refine and sell fuel at a loss. It is also the reason why NNPC refineries went bust in the first place.

FYI, Nigerians are willing to pay for services rendered to them.

We once had functional refineries in the olden days but pilfering by the political class made all the refineries to die.

Nigerians are willing to pay for services.

I wonder why our leaders do not know that our inability to refine oil for domestic consumption can lead to a serious national crisis.

The Corona virus pandemic made serious countries to take self sufficiency in all matters seriously. But our darling leaders are just looking for ways to loot.

It is a big shame.

Imagine if Nigeria had functional refineries. At least, we will be the one's supplying Benin Republic petroleum products. And this will make the Naira valuable.

2. "...We shall..."
3. "...I assure you..."

There is nothing like we have done in their vocabulary. And to believe that they promised so much and have delivered very little.

So it's now a sin to say your mind?
From personal experience, I know no one is more racist than the one who openly criticizes other racists for being racist.

We keep shying away from the truth.
Studies in Sociology and Anthropology show that discrimination is a natural social response.
Some of us can not eat in the same plate with a Fura-Dununu-eating Fulani man.

It may be discriminatory, but it's in us. Even in the Bible, (Genesis 30). Laban separated mottled, striped and streaked animals from his flock.

It is a natural instinct to be racist or race-conscious and that's why the half-caste or Lebanese will attract unnecessary attention on the streets in Nigeria.

It's a shame that fellow blacks have not built a thick skin for racist bashes. I have.
Why should you thrive in a whiteman's land and still demand equality from them.

We are intruders and that's their land. We belong in Africa and the Carribeans hence should relate to their pain because we've gradually recolonized their land.

Is that not the same reason we're kicking against RUGA in Nigeria?
Simply because we don't want a situation tomorrow where one Abdulkareem Wada is a bonafide indigene of Ideato LGA in Imo state.

If you relate to this, then you should relate to why a typical English man should be mad that a Bukayo Saka is playing for England.

The least Bukayo shoulda done to show appreciation to England for being there for his parents was to score that damn goal.

Everything you wrote above is NONSENSE!!!

A father could get custody of his daughter depending on the grounds of separation/divorce.

Living apart has got nothing to do with a person's moral stand. An abusive parent would still abuse their child (given the chance) whether together or separated

God help us.

Exactly my own observation. God bless you richly.

Romance / Re: His Fiancee Went To Her Ex Boyfriend's House To Visit After Engagement by kachistone: 8:09am On Jul 01, 2021
andronite:
HI guys,

My friend who is a US citizen, single, no kids, no wife, and has been working in the US for close to 10 years. Things have gone well and he was planning to settle down this August. So he came to Nigeria about one and half years ago to do introduction and engage his high school sweetheart. Note, this is also when they officially / seriously started dating . All has been well, and the both of them, their families were preparing for the wedding in August. However, last week he just discovered that his fiancee recently went to visit her ex boyfriend. When he confronted her, she said she went because she was bored, and she refused afterwards to change her phone number (he wanted to stop them communicating), saying she didn't sleep with her ex, and she only went for a hangout in his house.

My friend has cancelled the wedding as we speak, and everybody is begging him to re-consider. Between, the lady's age is within the range of 33 to 36. And my guy is between 37 to 40. He is confused as we speak, because he is taking a hard line on the issue, he doesn't want to start his marriage life on a wrong foundation. At the same time, he is feeling hurt because of her unseriousness.

What should he do?

I don't think your friend did anything wrong.
The truth is going to visit an ex in the house opens a vista for old flames to be rekindled.
Yes, one should not burn bridges but the lady should have had the meeting with the ex in an open place in the company of a trusted third party that one can vouch for.

Your friend did the right thing because the lady might later have sex with the ex if she hasn't already.

Unknown to many people, Prof Yemi Osinbajo actually anchored the international conferences that led to the creation of strategic institutions such as the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (ICPC), Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Federal Road Safety Commission and National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC).

Is the above true OP . I know EFCC and ICPC were PDP creations while FRSC was a military creation. I doubt if Osibanjo was instrumental in the creation of any.

Less than 1%, I'm sure.

Do not commonize the violence in the country and say it is affecting just 1% of the citizens. That 1% are people like you and I. They are men, women and children with flesh and blood.
