Yesterday, I watched the Orchestra stage performance by a Nigerian Music star, Awake, I marvelled, not only at the well composed lyrics but at the wonderful act of blending the Yoruba language with an Orchestra of western Instruments that gave a melody that will even move the Almighty God to some dance steps and I said to myself," Truly, Nigeria is a great country". As an Igbo guy, personally I knew deep inside me that we are the ones actually holding ourselves down and not our leaders..We allowed them, to manipulate us into forcing one another verbally and sometimes openly. The glory of Nigeria really has rested within this two great tribes, the Yoruba and the Igbo who unfortunately, have been fighting themselves foolishly. In Music they are there, in Industry they are there, in Education they are there, in sports they are there, in Diaspora, their professionals kept registering this country in the world map but back home, they are at daggers drawn verbally from Twitter, to Instagram down to this forum, all is a battle ground for Nigerian two greatest tribe. The worst is, what are we actually fighting for? What manner of sins or short comings that we cannot tolerate as countrymen and move on? The answer is simple, we are all a collective tools of political manipulations and sheer ignorance. I have taken my time to study the history of many great countries and found out that non achieved greatness with this Nigerian factor existing in their society..If truly we love this country, we need to come together, and see things collectively as country men and shout down anyone amongst us that will start coming up with division ary rhetorics that will never lead us know where as a people. Let's remember, the civil war has come and gone our collective unity will bring progress as long as we forget the past, learn from the mistakes of the past and move on..If this two Giants( Yoruba and Igbo ) will situp, the rest of the country will follow suit.If we maintain a more socio political and economic balance and respect for one another, the rest of the tribes will sit up and genuine progress will come. In this year 2026, let's learn to turn a new leaf, let's stop all this ego bantering and baseless comparisons and egocentric postures and see any tribes achievement as a collective Nigerian achievement, let's learn to put our political class in check and move on as a nation ,and let's see how we will make genuine progress as a people. |

What has this got to do with marginalization, an overall interest can not be sacrificed for selfish interest that you choose to call marginalization cos you cherish using the word when it comes to people of the eastern region to down play their legitimate argument. You wey even dey talk, they your region is the major beneficiary of the Imported sub standard products you cliaim and you forgot to tell us what we will call the cry of your region of the import stops |

keymatt:Or shooters that are begged and bribed with money to stop shooting. Or shooters that sat with American governors and other state govt officials negotiating a seize fire in the present of American Soldiers. |
Scholes007:The people whose story are more believable are the ones that called themselves Anioma..Some of them migrat d from Benin, while some from Igala that is a fact let's not deciev ourselves. Some migrated from the mainland Igbo, like from present day Anambara and Aro sub groups. So the entire Anioma cannot be entirely Igbo ancestry, but many are Igbo stocks, for example, history has it that, when the people of Onitsha arrived they met some Igala communities at the bank of the river, while the people of Obosi has the majority of the mainland which the settled . The people of Oguta in Imo state came from Benin that's a known fact, but due to years of co existence they are IGBOS today, so if the Anioma have lived longer enough with the IGBOS and adopted Igno culture why won't they be IGBOS just like the Onitsha and Oguta people. |
Scholes007:The first question you will ask yourself about the Ijweres issue is that, why will a man migrate from Benin kingdom bearing an Igbo name? The man they called Akalaka, was their ancestors according to them, bears an Igbo name, why not Osaro or igbenovia. Ijweres ancestors migrated from Nkwere present day IMO state just like how Jaja was from Amaigbo in Imo state today, the people of Etche migrated from Ngor Okpala present day IMO state, while some come from the Aro stock..But the point is if the decide to re write their history and say they are not IGBOS that's their business and I have no issues with that. |
