President Muhammadu Buhari’s Personal Assistant on Social Media, Lauretta Onochie, on Saturday lambasted the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar over his campaign centered around the economy.

Onochie said “Nigerians won’t be raped again by same set of incompetent and selfish lootocrats.”

In a statement she personally signed, Onochie asked Abubakar to tell Nigerians how many jobs he created in Nitel and Nigerian Airways while he was the Vice President.

The statement reads, “The Atiku Abubakar campaign has made the economy as its central campaign theme. Let us interrogate their capacity and history.

” How many jobs did Atiku Abubakar create in Nitel and Nigerian Airways as the head of the Economic team and Chairman of Privatisation Committee between 1999 and 2007.

“Despite earning about $1 trillion Dollars, can PDP and Atiku Abubakar explain to Nigerians why they grew the number of extremely poor people from 84 million in 2009 to 112 million extremely poor people in 2014 ( according to the world bank), yet believe the Buhari administration took us into poverty with a reduced figure of 87 million poor people in 2018?

“Why did Atiku Abubakar and PDP leave Nigeria with over 11 trillion Naira worth of abandoned projects including their Headquarters and are shocked that it is being completed by another Government. Is their an economic value in uncompleted projects Nigerians should know?

“With about $1 trillion Dollars earned by PDP and Atiku Abubakar, despite their supposed prowess in education including the Almajiri schools, why did out of school children grow from 10.5 million in 2010 to 13.2 million in 2015.

“The PDP left a debt of $63 billion dollars with oil as high as $147 per barrel and earnings of $1 trillion Dollars. Can they show us what they did with the money. Can they point to investments of our $1 trillion Dollars within and outside Nigeria.

“Can they explain to Nigerians why the GDP rate dropped from 6% in 2014 to 2.35% at handover in 2015, on the way to recession, as expressed by Coordinating Minister Okonjo Iweala and CBN Governor Sanusi.

“Can Atiku Abubakar and PDP tell us what they would have done differently to avoid recession if they had been reelected in 2015, despite the continuous crash of oil prices up to $28-29 per barrel and the fact that they did not save for the rainy day during the bumper years they had when oil prices peaked at $147 dollars per barrel?.

“Why was a critical infrastructure like the Niger Bridge left on a paper as a drawing for 16 years despite earnings of about $1 trillion Dollars.

” Is Stealing now Corruption or it still isn’t?

” Is 72 years still too old for a Presidential Candidate or not?

“The good thing about this Campaign is that we all have access for checking every candidate’s service history.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has said it is not aware of the detention and quizzing of its National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, by the Department of State Security, DSS.

The national spokesman of the party, Lanre Issa-Onilu, who described the report of Oshiomhole’s ordeal with the DSS as a rumour because the APC has not been officially informed about the matter, said this on Wednesday in a chat with DAILY POST.

It was learnt that Oshiomhole was grilled by the DSS operatives for nine hours after some APC governors alleged that he received bribes during the party’s primary elections across the country.



However, Issa-Onilu said Oshiomhole was the best person to confirm or deny the report.

He said, “We do not have any information on this rumour. More so, the Chairman is not around in the country to confirm or deny this.

“As soon as we have any relevant information, you’ll be updated.

Asked for Oshiomhole’s whereabouts, he said: “He (APC Chairman) travelled last night.”

Pressed further for information as to the National Chairman’s destination, Issa-Onilu maintained: “I do not have this information. I do know it’s a scheduled personal trip he could not make last week due to the November 2 deadline for the submission of candidates.”

Meanwhile, the senator representing Kogi West district, Dino Melaye, has mocked the APC over Oshiomhole’s reported questioning over alleged bribery.

The senator wrote on his Twitter handle: “Can it be true that Adams Oshiomhole has been the guest of SSS for 2days?

“A lot of confessions and revelations said to have been made over corruption associated with party tickets.

“APC is really fighting corruption. We will see how this will end. Nigerians are watching.”

Abubakar, a former Vice President, warned that Tinubu’s alleged “arrogance will fall off his eyes” in 2019 because Nigerians will vote against Buhari.

The Waziri of Adamawa, who made this remark through the spokesperson of his campaign organisation, Segun Sowunmi, said Nigerians won’t allow Tinubu deceive them in 2019.

In a series of tweets, Sowunmi also reacted to the saga surrounding the West Africa Examination Council, WAEC, certificate of Buhari.

Sowunmi wrote: “It is only a man of questionable pedigree whose certificate are dogged with a lot of confusion, whose parental background is pretty much unknown, whose state of origin is opaque and unclear that can understand how life is in the jungle.”

He continued, “If Asiwaju Bola Tinubu means that his life is in jungle, we want to say to him that pride goes before a fall. Those who disdain men that are going to contend with them for the goodwill and votes of the Nigerian people with careless talk is what we find even with Buhari.

“I pity him (Tinubu) because his arrogance will
fall-off his eyes like a scale when the votes are counted in 2019.

“Let him just understand that nobody is going to allow them run a chaotic, opaque and corruption-marred election. Let me also tell them that INEC will not help them. We shall all meet on the day of the election.

The National Democratic Front (NDF) has described as unnecessary, the ongoing debate over the WAEC certificate of President Muhammadu Buhari.

NDF said the debate was a needless distraction sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, to divert attention from issues at hand.

The PDP had on Friday challenged President Buhari to “show proof of his vaunted integrity by presenting his academic documents, if he has any, to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)” and put to an end his certificate saga.

However, a statement by Comrade Audu Auwulu, the National President of NDF, said the brouhaha over Buhari’s certificate was another needless debate by the PDP to divert attention from the issues affecting Nigeria and Nigerians.

According to him, “The campaign of calumny over Buhari’s certificate is another needless debate sponsored by the Peoples Democratic Party to divert attention from issues affecting the country.

“NDF is not surprised that instead of addressing any of the numerous challenges affecting the country, a few vocal elements within the leading opposition party in Nigeria have decided to make mockery of the presidential contest by trivializing the campaigns using an already rested “certificate” saga to distract the people.

“NDF wants to hear real issues being discussed as it has long been settled that PMB has both his WAEC and other higher qualifications to be President of Nigeria. We would rather ask the PDP some pertinent questions.”

Meanwhile, The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has told critics of the All Progressives Congress, APC’s, president candidate, Muhammadu Buhari, to go to court over his failure to submit his academic credentials to the electoral body.

The INEC Chairman, Prof. Mamood Yakubu, while addressing a news conference in Abuja on Friday, said, there was still room for legal redress if anyone was in doubt of claims by candidates seeking election into political offices in the 2019 polls.

I am very pleased to formally commission the new International Terminal of the Port Harcourt Airport, Omagwa today. This ceremony represents a significant landmark for International air travelers, particularly from the South-South region, and the entire Country.

2. You will recall that after opening the major airport terminals in the country in the late 70s and early 80s, not much was added to increase the passenger handling capacity of these facilities by successive administrations.

3. Following the large increase in the national population with consequent surge in air passenger traffic, the capacity of the airport terminals became woefully inadequate to cater for the increase in passenger traffic.

4. Although, palliative measures were periodically carried out, the facilities were fast giving-in to the effects of wear and tear. It therefore became necessary to take decisive action to ensure our terminals meet minimum international standards for the travelling public.

5. The Federal Government responded to a global trend in which aviation became a catalyst for economic growth as a result of massive and speedy movement of persons, goods and services in a safe and secure manner.

6. As part of the infrastructure renewal program, the construction of four new international terminals at Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt and Kano airports was embarked upon by the Federal Government with a view to modernising the aging airport infrastructure to meet global aviation standards and improved service delivery in tandem with best international practices.

7. At the presentation of the 2017 Budget to the National Assembly, I promised to upgrade and develop Nigeria’s transport, power and health infrastructure, and complete a number of stalled infrastructure projects.

8. These include construction of new terminals at the country’s five major airports; numerous major road projects; key power transmission projects; and the completion of the Kaduna – Abuja as well as Itakpe to Warri Railway lines.

9. Nigeria having an advantageous central location within the sub-region and our desire to develop into a regional air transportation hub must upgrade its facilities to take advantage of its assets. The recent decision by the Federal Government to remove Value Added Tax from domestic air transportation is in line with global best practices.

10. This will make air travel more affordable and subsequently lead to the creation of jobs by the air transport service value chain as well as increase revenues for government.

11. Today’s commissioning is an example of Government’s deliberate policy to sustain the development of infrastructure for economic growth in all geo-political zones of the country.

12. I, therefore, wish to commend the people of the South-South Region and airport users for their patience during the period of construction.

13. Let me also praise the efforts of the Federal Ministry of Transportation, particularly Aviation, the Chinese government and the China Exim Bank for their financial support and the various roles they played leading to the successful completion of this project. I also wish to say well done to the contractor, Messrs CCECC for timely service delivery.

14. It is therefore with great pleasure that I commission the new International Terminal building of Port Harcourt International Airport.

The House of Representatives on Tuesday has passed a motion to investigate the crisis at the National Health Insurance Scheme, NHIS.

The resolution came following a motion of urgent national importance moved by a member from Bayelsa State, Mr. Diri Douye.

The session was presided over by the Speaker, Mr Yakubu Dogara.

Douye while debating his motion on Tuesday described the NHIS as “theatre of war.”

Recalling how Yusuf was twice queried earlier in the year by the Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, Douye said “Part of the query was that he spent N17million on a trip outside the country. He was suspended but he was surprisingly recalled by the Presidency.

”Let us investigate this crisis and the operations of the NHIS as our country is becoming a banana republic.”

A member from Plateau State, Mr Edward Pwajok (SAN) also speaking called on the Ad hoc committee to investigate whether the Council had the powers to suspend the Executive Secretary.

“The law provides that Mr President shall appoint the ES on the advice of the Minister of Health according to Section 8 of the constitutional act.

“It is the person who appoints that can also suspend. The committee should first look deeply into this area as well,” Pwajok said.

At the end of the plenary, an ad hoc committee of the House was empowered to conduct the investigation within four weeks.

The committee will thereafter summon Adewole, Yusuf and Ifenne to appear and testify at the National Assembly.

Ayodele Fayose, immediate past governor of Ekiti state, has lost out in his bid to be granted bail by the federal high court in Lagos.

On Monday, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arraigned Fayose on an 11-count charge of conspiracy and money laundering against him accusing him of benefitting from N4.65billion slush funds allocated by the Office of National Security Adviser(ONSA) during the Goodluck Jonathan Administration.

The agency said that Fayose was allegedly allocated ₦6.5 billion from the funds, illegal acquisition of property in Abuja and Lagos and illegally acquiring property in the name of his sister in Abuja, among others.

Fayose pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to him.

Subsequently, Kanu Agabi, his counsel, filed a bail application on behalf of his client but Mojisola Olatoregun, the presiding judge, said the application would be considered later since he is entitled to bail.

She ordered that Fayose should remain in EFCC custody till Wednesday.

The former governor, less than 24 hours after he left office on October 16, submitted himself to the anti-corruption agency in the company of Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State Governor, and Femi Fani-Kayode, a former aviation minister, and has been in their custody since then.

He was flown to Lagos on Sunday evening and brought to the court Monday morning amid heavy security presence.

The Director of Strategy and Documentation of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Olisa Mbakwe on Monday announced that its leader, Nnamdi Kanu has been sacked from the group.

Mbakwe said Kanu was fired for placing more value on his dog than those murdered in the struggle for the realisation of Biafra.

Speaking during Sunday’s broadcast from his base in Israel, Kanu mourned his dog and “a few other people” in his compound, who lost their lives when military men invaded the place in September 2017.

Kanu had said during the broadcast, “The Army of the zoo killed my dog Jack and a few other people in my compound. I am sorry for what my sureties are passing through, but I want to assure them that they will have a special place in Biafra. I shall not be honouring the court.”

Reacting, Mbakwe described Kanu as an “insensitive and callous leader that has no value for his own followers but rather his dog, Jack whom he paid tributes to after his long disappearance from the struggle”.

In a statement he personally signed, Mbakwe, of IPOB, also insisted that Kanu was a “traitor not worthy of any leadership position anywhere in the world”.

He stated that Kanu was removed for reasons which included, “personalisation of the Biafran struggle and derailing from the core objectives of IPOB as a grassroots movement”.

The statement read: “On Sunday, October 21, 2018, an individual, Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu, claiming to be the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Director General of Radio Biafra made a live broadcast that has left us perplexed, because it is unthinkable that someone will impersonate IPOB to the point of plotting to abuse the organization to hurt the interest of Biafra.

“The strength of the Republic of Biafra that we are struggling to actualize, is in its human resources as embodied in our versatile youths that dominate the fields of play across sectors of human endeavor; the country we have set our vision on creating is therefore not to be made up of tombstones but of people fulfilling their life missions as ordained by God.

“Nnamdi Kanu relinquished his position as the leader of IPOB struggle the day he deserted our members to die, when they had mobilized to stand for our belief in Biafra at his residence in Afaraukwu. Several of our members were injured and some died in that encounter and even after emerging from hiding more than one year later all Kanu could do was to desecrate their memory with his radio broadcast. Nnamdi Kanu vividly, specifically and particularly recalled his family dog, Jack, by name while he dismissed our members that died as mere statistics — he only recalled them as 28 IPOB members.

“Even if Kanu had not deserted, there is no way we would have continued under the leadership of a man that values his family dog more than Biafrans.

“We are not unmindful of how Kanu struck the deal that granted him bail in the first place while abandoning our members, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawusi, Bright Chimezie Ishinwa and Chidiebere Onwudiwe to languish in jail. Instead of using his freedom to accelerate the freedom of these authentic freedom fighters, he rather went about Biafra land receiving obeisance from Biafrans like a monarch, when our dear land is completely republican. The travails of these our brothers are not over yet and might have been worsened by Kanu’s live broadcast, which has totally upset us.

“In line with the decisions earlier announced on Radio Biafra on November 17, 2017 that Mazi Ezenwachukwu Sampson Okwudili is the new director for the radio, we reaffirm that Mazi Nnamdi Nwanekaenyi Kanu remains sacked as the Director of Radio Biafra and has also been removed as the leader of IPOB since he has proven he is not a worthy leader that respects the sanctity of the lives of our members.

“Following interventions by our leaders, considerations were being made to reverse the earlier announcement but after studying the Kanu’s live broadcast from Israel we came to the painful conclusion that we cannot make progress with our vision of Biafra, when one man has completely personalized and commercialized the struggle. The decision to drop Nnamdi Kanu from playing leading roles in IPOB affairs is hereby upheld. We shall announce replacements after consultations with the various stakeholders.”

The impeachment followed a motion moved by the member representing Oredo East Constituency, Hon. Osaigboyo Oyoha, Channels reports.

Hon. Oyoha moved the motion, alleging financial misappropriation, anti-party activities and corruption against the former Deputy Speaker.

The impeachment process led to a rowdy session as the former Deputy Speaker and some of his loyalists tried to resist the action.

A sample of the invitation letter signed by the Chairman of the Book Presentation Committee, Bashir Yuguda, stated that the book “gives some insight into the 2015 presidential election and also reflects on some key decisions by the former president while in office.”
