I don't believe that the American embassy is targeting Nigerians regarding this birthing issue, we all know what the problem is here though some are playing a blinder.

How many people here have gone for an interview, declare child birth, present burden of proof, VO was convinced and issued a visa then you traveled , gave birth and paid exactly or above that amount you presented to VO during your interview and was unable to renew that visa?

I have lost count of how many times people come here to ask for cheap hospital or birthing centre after getting a visa, if you convinced the VO that you planned to spend $10-15K and got the visa but you decided to go for cheap and cheerful option then don't expect to get that visa renewed.
I don't agree with this. What is usually presented is a budget which includes transportation, accommodation, and miscellaneous expenses. The VO's don't look at the total cost presented during the interview. They go straight for the itemized hospital bill.

So because I presented a budget of $20,000 I should now create medical emergencies so that the the money will finish because I budgeted for emergencies?

Sorry that screenshot was not clear enough in the previous response, sorry. Another one

Also I know Nigerians living abroad who fund their expensive lifestyle abroad through the millions they get from Nigeria, so just think through

Thank you so much! It's been a battle. I'll test the waters first. Your advice is gold. I really appreciate. smiley

Still, I must say it all depends on the person. Perseverance, Endurance, Patience, Hope....are needed for this journey if you want to embark on it. Its hard or not feasible to continue a professional career that you started here in naija in canada. Its like you will have to start again {you will need Canadian certificate(s)}.

I read a story about a Doctor, infact practisiong here in Nigeria that migrated to Canada only to become a cleaner. This journey will humble you but I'm very sure it will worth it at the end.
So its a choice I must say and also your view of why you need to migrate, not just because everyone is migrating.
As for me ehn..............

Lol as for you?

I believe anybody has the right to change his/her environment at any point in life. I might have few questions tho...

Relocating via investment? or through FSW
Is the person a businessman/woman Or working for him to earn that amount.
One can't just decide here as there questions that one should asked.

If I'm in business and earning that amount....I could just visit Canada to catch some cold small, meanwhile investing my money in my fatherland.
Thinking of FSW.

The earning of 36m is net salary from Current job.

Can your sister-in-law provide the name of this individual?
She couldn't get his name. sorry.

I've gotten the letter from her but I am a bit confused about paying online. Must I select the private business option to make payment? I've tried searching for an explanatory guide on Nairaland but I can't find any.

When is the trip back, they usually tell you to apply for a visa if it's far it simply send mail acknowledged. I advice you use Gmail or yahoomail only.
Here's the story, I applied online two weeks before my trip. I didn't get any acknowledgement. Waited for a few days and hubby called since he's in Nigeria. They said they have technical challenges or upgrades. That we should send the letter 4 days later. We waited but didn't still get the acknowledgement. Called again and they said technical upgrades. That if we know someone in Abuja the person can bring the hard copy documents to the HQ.

My sister in law took the hard copy documents to the HQ and someone was demanding 10k from her! Imagine? I am really angry right now. I spoke angrily to her that the visa on arrival application letter is free. She now went to meet someone else at the top who reaffirmed that the letter is free and directed her on who to submit her application to. She was asked to pick it up in the morning.

It seems like a ploy to delay the VOA letter to few days before you leave in order to drive you to desperation. The annoying thing is that those particular useless Immigration officers be comparing the 10k to the cost of shifting your airline ticket to bow you into submission. This is unacceptable.

So my advise to anyone applying for VOA with hard copy. When you arrive just tell them to direct you to where you will drop the applications. DO NOT drop a dime. Please don't spoil this fight against bribery and corruption. Let us stop feeding this monster. Please.

Hello dear, please can you give me a breakdown, start to end on this VOA.
Right now i am confused again
I am still trying to get a hang on it myself. I've sent an email with the following information

The Comptroller General
Nigeria Immigration Service
Nigeria Immigration Service Head Quarters
Abuja.

APPLICATION FOR VISA ON ARRIVAL

I wish to apply for Visa on Arrival for my infant son. His details are as stated below:

Name:

Passport number:

Address:

Date of Arrival:

Port of Entry:

Airline:

Please find required documents attached: His passport bio, my passport bio, hubby's passport bio, travel itinerary.

I've still not gotten any acknowledgement and this is the 2nd time I've sent this mail. I called and they said I still have plenty time but the lack of mail acknowledgement troubling. Does it take up to 24hrs to get an acknowledgement?

Good evening,

1. You can type, print, sign and then scan the letter or you simply type the letter and send via email.

2. Hubby's international passport biodata page must be attached also.

Good luck with your application.
Thank you so much. I am truly grateful.

Good day all. Please I am having a bit of a challenge with the Visa on Arrival letter.

1. Should I fill the letter, scan and upload it to my email?
2. Is it necessary to include hubby's international passport biodata page as well as mine?

Thanks a lot for all your help.

I think it is important to address how the "so-called" discounted price is calculated with doctors as it seems that many Visa officers are unaware of this, and educating the people that are applying for their Visa's seems to be the best option for everybody. The "discounted price" is not necessarily a "discounted price", it is simply the real amount insurance companies and Medicaid pays Health providers (doctors/hospital) for the procedure. In other words, it seems that officials think that the price they see quoted for a normal delivery on a US Citizen with insurance is the amount the doctor/hospital receives from the insurance agency/Medicaid, which is absolutely false. Once again, the discounted rate is simply the amount the doctor/hospital would receive if the patient had insurance or Medicaid from these institutions. I hope this information helps to educate the members who are applying for Visa and recommend also watching the video below. Best wishes to all.

This is an eye opener but it doesn't stop the VOs from feeling like they are being cheated by the disparity in the medical system. Since they can't attack the system guess who receives the transfered aggression.

I feel its because you didnt mention you got discounted rates as a self paying cash patient, and then as you are talking showing her the itemised bill and direct her courteseously to look at the itemised bill.

Nah. It's kinda clear from this interview that the VO's mind was made up. The vibes are like senatornuella has reaped enough from the US and should not bother applying again. She didn't use tax payers money in anyway which makes it really weird. You can't truly say that they don't know about discount pricing. They see it all the time at interviews and POE. They must have even researched it so the VO can't claim ignorance.

UMC is a state-funded hospital and recently revised its prices. The Doctor's fees are not listed and frequently total over $3000 since there is no contract saying how much you will be charged.
Thanks a lot sir. I really appreciate.

Good morning house.

Are there limitations to the kind of hospitals I can use to give birth in the US?

I'm asking because I was thinking of using University Medical Center in El Paso.

I am really concerned about the fact they don't display any packages on their website and the University thingy.
