Fact remains that BF will definitely be more effective. If we can get the data, we will discover that Bua Sugar was not as effective as a seperate unit. At the bolded, there are a lot of factors: 1. Reduction in repetition and redundancy. 2. DS is implementing backward integration. This will reduce FX losses/dependance. 3. The cost of sales will definitely reduce mainly via wages and logistics. 4. etc I am speaking from a FMCG perspective... ositadima1: If you look closely, my comparison is based on efficiency since they are both in the same space. From your perspective, DS has performed much worse, with only sugar having a bigger cost of sales compared to a whole conglomerate of products.
Though, DS is significantly larger than BUA's sugar sector.
Why do you think the merger alone will make it more efficient? They are still individual products made at different plants.
Look at my post again and see that the difference in efficiency is almost twice as much. |

You compared ONE part of DangoteFoods with all FIVE parts of BuaFoods. The fact that the margin was not up to 1:3 says a lot... May I also add that the unification of BUAFoods made them MORE efficient. I expect same when DangoteFoods eventually floats. ositadima1: Why was BUA Foods more efficient than Dangote Sugar in 2023? Dangote Sugar lost 170 billion in forex exchange, while BUA Foods lost only 80 billion. Based on rough calculations, if Dangote Sugar had been as efficient as BUA Foods (here I mean in terms of reduced cost of sales, DS would have had extra 100 billion or more), they would have ended the year with no losses or very minimal losses. Dangote Sugar should look to BUA Foods to learn from their playbook. |

There are several 'holy books'. I believe you should be specific as to the particular one you're referencing... unite4real: Even the holy book admonish us to diversify.
Ecclesiastes 11 NIV Invest in Many Ventures 1 Ship your grain across the sea; after many days you may receive a return. 2 Invest in seven ventures, yes, in eight; you do not know what disaster may come upon the land.
3 If clouds are full of water, they pour rain on the earth. Whether a tree falls to the south or to the north, in the place where it falls, there it will lie. 4 Whoever watches the wind will not plant; whoever looks at the clouds will not reap.
5 As you do not know the path of the wind, or how the body is formed[a] in a mother’s womb, so you cannot understand the work of God, the Maker of all things.
6 Sow your seed in the morning, and at evening let your hands not be idle, for you do not know which will succeed, whether this or that, or whether both will do equally well.
Below are some areas of diversification we all look at
1. Stocks local 2. stocks foreign 3. Local BONDS 4. Foreign Bonds (eurobond) 5. Cryptocurrency 6. Real estate 7. Treasury Bills 8. Entreprenuship 9. Commercial papers 10. FOREX

It shows, amongst other things, that they are trying to build and maintain a good reputation... Streetinvestor2: So you saw this as good news for oando....pls why. The cause of the bull you saw on oando is the sell agreement that is going viral in most media news now.The larger population may not have been privilege to hear it earlier than some of us here.I have people who don't even know what is still up with 3 banks in nigeria today. It is now that the news is trending or going viral. The same will soon happen too on the latest judgment. Is only Nairametrics that has reported it if I am not wrong |

Where is F Excellent7: Not only UBA. I expect the UGAZ to at least double their interim dividends. This could be a double slam that encourages investors with respect to the capital raisings and enables management to more easily equal or surpass last years total dividend in anticipation of increased outstanding shares by end of the year. |

That does not make the announcement by the parties involved irrelevant or old. It is fresh news... Regulatory approval simply means that they are allowed to enter a deal. Completion of the deal is the signing of ALL agreements and paperwork which I believe just happened yesterday. mikeapollo: The regulator that decides, NUPRC, had announced officially on July 3, that the deal is 100% complete. This carries more weight in my estimation. What Oando and ENI are saying does not add anything new to what NUPRC had said 3 weeks earlier. Hence, this is still old news. |

Let's refresh our memories. OandO CP on Jan 02,2024 was NGN10.85... ProphetUtuocha: My predictions for 2024: - Oando will not delist. It will reposition and will appreciate by minimum 400% this year. - Most banks, especially FUGAZE will outperform - The Dangote stocks will underperform - Many will pay school fees in the insurance sector - Nigerian economy will start a crucial recovering process. - Foreign investors will gradually return from 1st half of the year - Nigeria's rating will go up as positive economic indicators ramp up. mikeapollo: Jokes aside, a lot of the things ProphetUtuocha said/predicted about Oando has come to pass. I think he deserves some credit and he seems to have some ''insider'' knowledge of things happening in Oando. But he should not be putting us in suspense and hoard info about the stocks. Whatever would be would be eventually! |
