ABAKALIKI—GOVERNOR David Umahi of Ebonyi State yesterday explained that there was no cogent reason for Ebonyi people to demand the immediate withdrawal of Fulani herdsmen from communities in the state, considering the harmonious relationship existing between Ebonyi people and the herdsmen.

The governor, who stated this during an enlarged security council meeting at the International Conference Centre, Abakaliki noted that grazing routes would be created in communities to enable the Fulani herdsmen carry out their duties without rancour and disaffection.

Ebiseni said the State government had already given the Fulani herdsmen a one week ultimatum to evacuate their cattle from the main town of Akure.

He declared that any Fulani nomadic herdsman grazing cattle at night would also be considered thieves and handed over to the law enforcement agencies.

"We don't want to see the Fulani herdsmen grazing cattle within the streets of Akure, the State capital,” Mr. Ebiseni said. "Animals are not reared on the road in our own towns. They are allowed in the outskirts of the town.”

“Grazing zones could be created for those who are traditional cattle rearers in their areas. I’m not against that. But, you cannot come here and tell me you want to occupy our land for grazing zones. The land exists in our respective states and as such the rigthtful owners should decide what to do with them.

“Anybody outside this zone willing to rear cattle here will need to approach the state to buy the land and we offer what is available with rules. There is no free land for grazing zones. We need to take this firm position. It won’t happen.”

If the PDP magically wins in 2019, the East must wait till 2027 after the current northern PDP presidential ticket has run its two terms.

The only hope for an Igbo Presidency in the APC (aka Amala and Tuwo party in the East) is through Rochas Okorocha, and if Ibos could reject Ojukwu at the Presidential polls TWICE, then 'Okoroawusa' has no chance.

The APC Presidency in 2023 for Yorubas will be like taking candy from a baby, especially with Buhari's blessings on the candidate.

We both know that no credible elections have been conducted in Nigeria in recent times. And as long as we stiil recognise igbo as a tribe, they deserve to be given the chance.
