Agriculture / Re: FG Orders 10,000 Tractors, Signs €995 Million Financial Facility by kashmoneyz: 10:49am On Mar 12
Not just that. It's a loan facility which is not just going to be provided by the Deutsch Bank all at once, it would be in tranches.

Also, it makes sense to monitor and evaluate the project implementation since 2000 tractors mean additional average of 2-3 tractors to each local government area.

There are 34 million hectares of arable land in Nigeria and not all are practical for farming due to bandits and herdsmen brouhaha. A tractor will typically plough 3 hectares per day and on average 600 hectares a year. So we have started from a good place.
LegendHer0:

This would make more sense.

But their excuse could be that they want to see how it fares year in year first before investing everything at once.

But it would have been better if 5 companies can just send the order at once instead of one spread across 5 years.
Travel / Re: Ileri Babalobi GWR: I Am Visiting 54 African Countries Without Using A Plane by kashmoneyz: 12:37am On Feb 16
Born to travel!!! 😁

Rooting for you bro

https://allure.vanguardngr.com/2024/02/ileri-babalobi/

My name is Ileri Babalobi and I am trying to become the 1st African to visit all 54 African countries without using a plane. In the process,I plan to set 2 Guinness world records and Raise money for the Nigerian Red Cross. I expect to take about 6months. Here's why I'm doing this

I've been backpacking for nearly 10 years now. I have been to all 36 states of Nigeria, and when I lived in Ghana, all the 16 regions there as well as over a dozen African countries. i've been trying to visit all African countries for a long time and I'm finally close to doing it

On the trip I'll be exploring the culture and visiting the Tourist Areas of each place I visit and stream it on YouTube here https://youtube.com/@africatours . I've always been interested in how people in other cultures and places live. Which brings me to why I'm making this trip . ..

1) Im very Pro Nigerian and without being facetious, I've always wanted to do something for her Gratis . I hope to raise a lot of money for the Nigerian Red Cross. The official name of the attempt is Naija to the World and at each Border I'll take a picture with the Nigerian flag.

2 I want to show how people in other countries live
3 I would be promoting the Borderless Africa campaign by Africans Rising, which seeks to remove barriers to migration ( such as expensive visas) among African Nations.
4) it's a Chance to fulfill a life long personal dream .

I'll leave from Lagos in March and I plan to do a daily summary here on nairaland everyday , as well as two YouTube videos of the days adventures.
Advice and tips are welcome

Politics / Re: Whose Responsibility Is It To Replace Broken-Down Electricity Transformers? by kashmoneyz: 1:15pm On Jan 16
Apt
nairalanda1:
Ideally, it is the job of the local DISCO, not the job of PHCN. PHCN does not exist. Discos and gencos and TCN have replaced it.

But as to why consumers contribute...this one is easy.

Nigerians are not paying cost reflective tarrifs for electricity. Additionally, over 30% of us do not pay for the power we use.(If you think I am lying...google for the PwC report Solving the Liquidity crunch in the power sector).

As a result, your local DISCO is owing money, and at least 3 of them have been taken over by the banks. Up till today...many of our DISCOS have not broken even. THREE of them, and I mean three of them, have been taken over by their creditors, one has been taken over defacto by the government.

Why...because Nigerians do not want to pay their power bills at market price. We think we must have power for free.

Meanwhile, GSM companies, if the antenna spoil, dem go replace am. Your local provision store owner, if he runs out of milk today, he will replace it within a few hours, if not tomorrow latest....because they are allowed to do something the power sector is not allowed to do. Sell at market price.

This is the result of not letting DISCO set prices.....you will be asked to contribute for your generator.

I went to a private school for primary school, and then for secondary school, na government school I go. My school fees in the primary school were at one point three times what I eventually was paying in the government secondary school I went to....yet in the primary school, in over 6 years of being there it was two times I bought exercise book for myself...the second time, because the supplier was late, and I was advised to buy a book...anyway, normal service was resumed in a few days.

When I entered secondary school, I was paying cheap school fees. Guess what......in my six years there I was buying all my exercise books and stationeries and textbooks while there. Something that in my private primary school..they were issuing us textbook.

Let us all pay a cost reflective tarrif.......and you will see your disco provide you with high quality transformer that would last 300 years. Not this one where we pretend power is cheap, and where in some areas half the population thinks it is free of charge. Ok o.
Agriculture / Re: Farm Workers Available In The North. by kashmoneyz: 7:50am On Jan 06
Hello, I am interested in farmworkers in Oyo State.
kpas4kpas2:
Greetings great farmers, do you need yearly farm workers?
We got you cover. I know how difficult to get farm workers in some part of Nigeria but by the special grace of God, we are here to help out.
As the cloud is giving us signals, many farmers are preparing their land and the rain will soon be here but the big question is; do you have workers??
Book the number of workers you need now.

Payment is at the end of the year. Ist week of December.
You're to feed and accommodates them.

Remember I said workers not slaves o.
You're to treat them like your elderly or younger ones.
Properties / Re: Can 25 Million Naira Build This? by kashmoneyz: 8:05pm On Dec 27, 2023
If there's a good soil profile, there's not as much cost incurred during the foundation construction. If this is the case, I have an estimate of 14million to finish the carcass and we can put 12m to finish it exquisitely
CapitalBank:
I know things are expensive due to economic trajectory of the country.

Can 25M build a contemporary 4 bedroom bungalow in today's economy in Nigeria with standard finishing?

Yes!!!
NAIRALAND is about to hit 3,000,000 subscribers. I had hoped this feat would be achieved before the end of 2022. These are huge numbers, especially when you think of the number of active internet subscribers in Nigeria. Congratulations to Seun and everyone who has contributed to a forum for Nigerians and Africans. Looking out for the 3,000,000th member.

Career / Re: Shocking Salary From My To-be Boss. by kashmoneyz: 2:00pm On Jan 30, 2023
Where are you located, I might have a better offerin the coming weeks.
lazynairalander1:
Last week I had an interview for a data analyst teaching job, after series of interview process which includes.
Analyzing data with Excel and BI
Extracting and cleaning data with Python &SQL
Modeling, analyzing and visualization with R.
Though my Python prowess wasn't that good but I was told that what they needed is a data analyst who can handle R very well and I really impressed in that aspect.

I showed my data analysis projects on the above software excluding Python. Then we went to oral interview which led to the salary part. I was asked to name my price.
I told them to give me a breakdown on how many days I will be coming to work because I learnt it will be part time teaching job, the interviewer agreed to mail me my schedule.

I was hoping it will be weekend (like Friday evening, Saturday & Sunday) only for me to realized it will be Mon-Thur (that's not part time, I told the manager or so).
The worst part is that they are willing to pay me 10k/week for the job and I will be paid each week I come to work which means it's only the weeks the students avail themselves that I will teach and be paid.

Those tech pay such ridiculous amount or am just unlucky?
What am I expected to do with 10k weekly?
Transport?
Data?
Food?
Electricity?
What exactly?

I was furious though and I am still furious.

Religion / Re: Skit Makers Now Use The Name Of Jesus For Jokes, CAN Should Act Immediately!! by kashmoneyz: 12:33pm On Aug 07, 2022
When did Jesus Christ become defenceless? Is He a man made god, that He now needs mortal CAN to speak for Him.
nakotee:
Recently the name of Jesus who is known to be the name given to the son of the Most High God according to the Christian religion has be constantly been abused and defiled recently by skit makers in Nigeria.

JESUS is a sacred name and should not be used in any form of skit Making, Recently skit makers who show women indecently dressed also used the name of Jesus as jokes to sell their skit movies . This is not a good thing to behold in a country like Nigeria who took Christianity as one of its major religions.

I hearby call on the notice of the Christian Association of Nigeria to call to order all skit makers and every other persons who is presently abusing the name of JESUS.

Please Moderators this issue should be given more attention.
