uzoo: By 'ore' ,i'm assuming you mean shea butter- its fine to use shea butter on the topends of the hair , this is because when applied directly to the scalp it can leave a residue on the scalp making it look like dandruff.

Coconut is perfect ,you can massage on scalp or on to damp hair or after applying moisturisers to the hair.

One more tip.
Spray the detangling moisturiser on to the corn-rows,braids or weaves on the child's hair before you lose the braids/corn-rows.
it helps to soften the hair and make it easier to comb afterwards.
