Henry240:  J-31...I doubt the French will let such a deal take place...so as not to make thier "colonies" jittery..Stealth tech up for grabs? Talk about killing the stealth technology monopoly for them Yanks. The J-10 on the other hand, is not bad atall..quite comparable to even the F-16 Block 50s if you ask me. |

Henry240:Yeah, Since we are inducting 25-40 units(3 Squadrons) in the nearest future, the NAF can save costs by overseas training in Pakistan for the selected few who will fly the jets instead of acquiring the the JF-17B. From 2020 onward, we can now begin to shop for a 4.5 Gen fighter to equip two squadrons to form a new Vanguard for the NAF. |

Henry240:The Pakistanis were brought in following several FT-7Ni crashes, which resulted in the grounding of the fleet in October 2012. After assistance from the Pakistan Air Force, the jets were cleared to fly again.. THAT is what solved the issues with the F-7Ni. Back to the main issue, am sure Nigeria's quest for the Hongdu L-15 was borne out of the necessity for a suitable trainer for the incoming JF-17s. 1 Like |

Henry240:Still doesn't cut it...The JF-17 (Block I ,II, and III) does not match the on-board electronic suites of the F-5E (A close relative of the T-38 Talon). This is the main reason why Morocco ditched its plans to induct the Block II versions. Our best option is to induct the L-15-class aircraft as an advanced jet trainer with pilots only doing type conversion on front-line squadrons to the JF-17, although again this could be done using a two-seat version of the JF-17 (Twin Seater variant yet to be inducted!). Either way, NAF pilots are not ready to fly that aircraft. Simple. 1 Like |

Henry240:Online sources claim the NAF is getting the 3 Block I JF-17 fighters for $25million. That is about $8million apiece! How reliable are these "sources"? , given the fact that there is a $15million price tag on each fighter. Also, which Advanced Jet Trainer will be used to transition to the JF-17?.......The NAF currently has no supersonic Advanced Jet Trainer. Or would these airframes be flown by PAF contractors? |
