Politics › Re: Which Would You Rather Have As President? by Katyusha(m): 8:36am On Nov 19, 2016 |
Ohibenemma: WE all love to hate Trump. Why? Because Americans chose to elect him their president? Is that why so many Nigerians have been so passionately berating a man who cares little next to nothing about their existence? See, Donald Trump is the president-elect of the United States of America, not Africa, definitely not Nigeria.
He was blunt when at risk of losing all, he was blunt even when at risk of being hated for being so controversial, but Trump remained Trump. The reality before us is that most of Trump’s braggadocio were only meant for the campaigns, but he has proven to be a man who can stand by what he believes even when immediate gain is at risk.
Now, we get our own headache, or headaches – if we want to be absolutely correct. We have a biting recession to contend with, we have a government that is only versed at selectively pursuing corruption, we have militants back on rampage, we have the Boko boys who have simply refused to be totally routed. We have rising costs in a no-holds barred fight with lesser spending power, unemployment keeps soaring every day (the employed are losing their jobs and the unemployed are waiting in endless expectancy of the fulfilment of job-creation campaign promises); power availability has remained at the mercy of fluctuating weather conditions, our own full our body.
Are we running away from these problems of ours? Are we seeing the U.S election as an outlet to vent our frustration? That has to be the case, for I don’t see why a man with Buhari will complain about anther who has Trump. Both in their seventies, Trump is in sound health (though obese), is intelligent enough to have set up many companies (Both surviving and failed), has in the process managed many sound individuals, has even featured in a movie, is a billionaire and much more. And our own Buhari is in sound health (though we aren’t sure of his ears), has never set up anything that could meaningfully contribute to the lives of others, has his entire CV filled with quota system inspired appointments, is so intelligent that he doesn’t even possess a secondary school certificate. The worst of all is that, forgetting all the above indices, our guy is actively and cluelessly driving our economy more aground every day.
For those Nigerians so active on the social media berating another nation on their choice of a leader, who would you rather have between Buhari and Trump? Who would you rather have between a man who placed his country and citizenry first, and that who goes all over the world denigrating the integrity of his people? Who would you rather have between an intelligent businessman who has risen to the enviable status of becoming a billionaire (in dollars!), and a man who was bold enough to “claim” inability to pay for his presidential form? Who would you rather have between a man who was bold enough to put his chances at a peril by stating his mind before the elections and one who pretended to be for all (donning traditional Igbo attire, amongst others) before the polls only to show his true colours after clinching office (97% – 5% things on mind)? Who would you rather have?
Even for those who may not admit it, the answer is clear. Allow the U.S to think about their choice. It is their choice, after all. Obama has moved on, Clinton has moved on; why not do same? I think we should all redirect our frustration to more meaningful ventures, and let the dead bury their dead. What is this gibberish? |

What about the two lt-col that died two days ago in an I.E.D ambush , are they conspiracy too.
In my own opinion it's just a coincidence. Dont mind those TAN clowns. Every setback faced by the army is another reason to advertise the prowess of the Army under their kleptocratic "Hero of Democracy"....Ignorant Stockholm Syndrome victims. Would we be losing officers now if GEJ and his cohorts had done the needful and used funds meant for the Military purely for equipment and not election campaigns? What then is this idiotic and baseless claim that BH is on "the offensive" due to a ransom paid? Is this the time to score cheap political points? The Army is stronger than it was under GEJ and his hawkish wasteful Generals. We WILL prevail despite the tacit lack of support by fifth columnists and remnants of the old guard. Let me see any nonsense about a ransom on this thread again and I will descend on the individual displaying such foolishness. |

thewife306: Before anyone would ask if he wasn't like this before marriage. No he wasn't. He never cautioned me harshly in private not to talk of in public. When we were newly married he shouts at me in his younger brother's presence. (Why will they give me respect) He did it in the presence of our plumber cos I told him the prices of the items were expensive. Then our househelp. He does it so often that I begin to wonder what point he was trying to prove. To the extent that the lady started losing respect for me and giving me attitude anytime I caution her. That he even told her not to do what I asked her to do. Then the most recent was in church. He was struggling wit our toddler that he fell and I asked him to leave him. He just started shouting and everyone was looking. I really am not happy. And unknown to him, this is reducing my love for him. Cos i cant love someone dat disrespects me. I use to love telling people how wonderful he is but these days I cant. It's affecting my relationship with him. I'm considering embarrassing him back the next time he does it so he knows how it hurts cos he doesn't see anything wrong with it and never apologize. He says he doesn't like hiding his feelings. I ask "even when your words hurt your spouse". I'm worried cos we might be travelling soon and if he embarrases me in front of family members i might lose my temper. I need mature advises here pls. As i do not want to involve 3rd party. Is he mad? Other women would treat his fuckup. You dropped your fathers name, took his, and placed your future in his hands. Draw the fucking line now. As for your housemaid, a few slaps will do the magic. |
