It's been a while o!! Yeah, about Odua and the issue of no payment yet. They said they won't pay us until they can verify our info from our schools meanwhile that is not possible because ASUU IS ON STRIKE!! So we have to painfully wait till we resume school which only God knows when that is!
Greetings to everyone in the house. Add positive values to yourselves during this strike my people, it is worth it. Later tins. |

Christianity Etc › Re: Religion Is Sweet Poison, Heaven Is A State Of Mind. by kavey10(m): 6:50pm On Sep 23, 2013 |
kelvinlink: Is God a man or a Spirit? Why did he created only one Son? Maybe he has more Sons and daughters? Was Jesus christ the Son of God? Or just a great prophet of God? How come nobody talks about the Wife of God? Maybe Jesus has a heavenly mother? What happened to Joseph the Carpenter, the husband of Mary? Why did the compilers of the bible and the disciples intentionally didn't write anything about him? What happened between the Missing period of Jesus christ life 12-30? Will it make any difference if he actually worked as a carpenter for years under Joseph? Did he not severally said it himself that he is not GOD? Did he not severally said that all those who are led by the spirit of God are the SONS OF GOD? What Original Sin did he died for to cleanse away the Sins of the world? Haven't previous Prophets of God been misunderstood and Crucified? The Crucifixion (Nailing on the cross) was the standard way the Romans at the time crucified EVERY convicted criminal, wasn't it? Jesus christ crucifixion was not the first and the last ? Why do we bother ourselves with the narrow chronology of the Israelites..... ? Were there not diverse tribes, nations and countries at the time.....where people not already living in America, Africa, Oriental Asia? The History of the world did not start with the accounts of the Israelites as written down in their own chronology or is it? Were there not various oral unwritten traditional accounts of creation and the Kingdom of Heaven held to be sacred also by the Orients , Native India and Africans in time past? Are there not many Religions in the World, with everyone claiming to be the true one? Has it even occur to you that God is not a Christian, but simply God? Was it not Man in his search for his life source that invented the Word God? Listen to your heart and tell me you don't feel deeply that GOD is greater than the God man has invented? The word Christian is not an heavenly name or is it now? Wasn't it humans who describe the disciples of Jesus as Christ like.....Christians? Why do we christians have this subtle arrogant deep belief that we are the ones going to heaven or the ones that knows the truth about God and the rest are just ignorant ? Are we even Christians....Real Christians? Gandhi once told a british missionary he would have been a Christian if only he had met one.... ? Why do we laugh at muslims rewards of Ten virgins in Heaven...."If they do Allah's will" and yet we do not see any funny joke in our own "Mansions waiting for us in Heaven" ? Do you not know of billions of people across the world who are neither Christians or muslims, but people who just live life simply and follow no Religion, dogma or tradition? Why have we clouded our minds with Religion, and please don't tell me Christianity is not a religion or a faith based belief system, because it is or is it not? Did Jesus christ paid tithe or did he requested for it? If he wanted, could he not have embarked on some glamorous building of Temples and places of worship dedicated to his father God? Did he not strive to live simple and humble? Funny enough, those who even walked with him and later wrote about him....didn't even fully understood his teachings at the time or did they? Why have we reduced God to a man or even pinned down a Son to him? Do you know that Muslim clerics perform miracles too in the name of Allah? Buddhist masters also heal diseases and perform acts of miracles in their temples... Do you know muslims are prosperous and their Allah blesses them without Tithe payment or sowing seeds ? What seeds did you sow before the sun came up today? What seeds will you sow to God to make the moon to shine bright at night?? We have turned God into a Seed God, more like a Farmer God ?? If you had been born in Saudi Arabia or even Kano to a muslim parents, your name probably would have been Ibn saiyd mohammed and not paul, peter or esther ? Does it really matter what religious beliefs you adhere to? Think about it really hard......Does God look Religious to you? Do you think he cares about if you are Christian, Muslim or Buddhist ? Have you ever wondered if all his Spirit living within you really cares about is just "The content of your Character" the perfect harmony of your thoughts, words and actions and not religious sects beliefs , payment of tithe or accumulation of church attendance? Why is it so hard to free ourselves from this mental slavery of Religious beliefs? God is not even Religious..... The present day state of Isreal and Jewish people are not even Christians or are they? Just tune in into any tv station and you will see the effects of Religious beliefs! Stop this argument about arch angels, debating upon old documented accounts of persons long gone........... Just look at the argument surrounding the role Awolowo played in The Nigerian civil war (1967-1970) and the many controversies and interpretations of events still fresh in the memories of survivals, then why do you aimlessly argue about events thousands of years old....why ? God is not a man.... God will not do for man what he must do for himself ......... Why will God come and die for the sins of the world What sins are you even talking about What Original sin did he came to die for? God is not a man............... Which serpent crawled into the garden? Which forbidden fruit? Humans in their search for God ......created God. Their own description of God and even gave him a son with arch angels....... The best we can call him is God or Allah He, She or It........whatever it is.......is Almighty and All Powerful. God is not a christian or a muslim.....he is simply GOD! Stop trying to gain relevance by claiming to be his special people. He, She or It.......whatever it is......is for everyone one....Yea....Everyone! Even a blind man knows a face filled with Love. God is Love. Whatever represents or emboldened Love is God. Everything good, peaceful and lovely. Love......Love.......and Love! Stop these fabled stories that started within a small tribe in Asia. Africans were already living at the time and they also had there own special covenant and relationship with God Lao Tzu wrote the Tao Te ching (The way of the Tao) 500BC.......BC....not AD. Do you think God will honestly care if you are a christian or not ? Your thoughts, words and actions are what counts and not race, lineage, culture, accent or colour. There is no unity even among those who claim to be of the same christianity fold . Christians of different denominations hate each other more than even Muslims do....or is it not so? God is not a christian or Muslim Stop giving him a son Or better still....why dont you just go ahead and also attribute a wife to him? More like God, his wife and Son....ehnnnn. God lives within you Yes.....Within you and not in a heaven. He is with you always. Listen more to his voice within you. Within you....In you. Listen to your heart. Observe the dictates of your Instincts. Be still in your Self. God is with You. You are a God on Earth Yes you are. You are co-creators You create your own World Same Nature and Spirit No one can see God face to face and live or can they? People saw Jesus He bled...Cried....got angry.....got saddened God is a Spirit The Spirit is God The Spirit of God is God. You are a Spirit. Deep down you know you are. The doctrine of the Trinity started hundred of years after the death of Jesus. God is not a Trinity. Stop the Confusion Christians are not the only ones in the world Just go ahead and live a purpose driving life. Obey the rules governing your environment. Listen to your own heart. Let Love guide you in all you do. Amen. |
Nairaland General › Re: 5 Steps To Develop Self-Confidence by kavey10(m): 7:26pm On Sep 20, 2013 |
Matthew briggs: Quite very useful tips. Moreover adding to the op's tips on building confidence. There are 3 core steps to gaining self confidence. I will use my life experiences to relay them.
1. Build your intellect, Increase your knowledge base - I was once a shy person an extreme introvert, in fact my mum told me when I was little when visitors came around I always ran and hid my self. Lack of self confidence plagued me during my early years.
Until at a very young age I got to stay with a lecturer and everything changed, I had access to this amazing library and an awesome collection of books. I was hungry for knowledge and I therefore read ferociously, My knowledge and intelligence grew tremendously. It boosted my confidence I felt more sure of my self and abilities, I knew I was not empty but carried something very few carried. Till today the hunger for knowledge has never died.
Knowledge is the ultimate self confidence boaster. It helps you stand tall in front of your peers because you know what they don't. I got to understand that every one of us have our insecurities, fears, weakness and imperfections, we are all afraid of something no matter how beautiful, handsome or strong we look. Moreover I learnt that knowledge and intellect is not enough.
2. Look and Act confident :- Been brilliant and knowledgeable is not enough, you've got to let the world know you have strong belief in your self and capabilities. The catch is that I think 70% of human communication is non verbal meaning, people access you based on how you carry your self.
The way you walk, talk, sit and stand . With this new found knowledge, I refined the way I walked, I walk like someone that's on a mission no dragging of my feet or walking like someone who has all the time in the world. I sit like an executive that's in a board meeting, I talk assertively, clearly and intelligently, I look at you in the eyes when I have too. I stand uprightly in firm postures. To pull this off you've got to imagine your self as the CEO of a fortune 500 company or have a role model you look up to. Mine was Apple' s late Steve jobs, Oracle's Larry elision and Obama.
3. Build a track record of achievements, gather some bragging rights - The most surest way to build your confidence is putting yourself out there and doing something that you can look back and pat yourself in the back saying "I did this sh*t". That's nothing that more self assuring than looking back at your achievement it might academical, physical, financial etc. and there they stand speaking for you.
In my case I dared to do stuff others were afraid of, taught my self software's people were scared of and went on to do projects that when I look back during my darkest hours I smile and say to my self " dude you did this".
Self confidence is not a destination but a journey. It a process, a state of mind affected by what you feed your mind with.
I have not achieved hundred percent confidence as I write this, I still have my heart beating fast when am about to make a speech, but I have surely come a long way. I have this unwavering belief in my self and ability to deliver.
Finally if you can't act confident, fake it.
#Matthew Briggs Let me quote you sharp sharp for future reading, to reassure myself that I'm on the right track when the haters try to bring me down(they just can't stand my confidence, not pride). Thanks bro. |

The date fixed for the exam was good for me, we just resumed, so I used the opportunity to journey to U.I (for the 1st time, nice school I must say, neat and organised but a girl gave me a bad image of their girls' attitude, more on this later).
I made sure to read about the company's info on their site i.e history, projects etc. I was so impressed with what they were doing it encouraged me to want to be part of them by making sure I did well in the exam and be AN ODUA BOY a.k.a OMOLUABI.
I got to my venue early though BUT they started LATE!!(I still remember that painful wait though it was due to sorting people[late comers] out sha). The exam started but people STILL ARRIVED LATE even with the extended time(very bad habit), some peeps weren't lucky to enter sha. They told us to dress corporate some people dey wear Ankara come write exam, kai! I laugh tire ehn. Na corporate be that?
THE EXAM WAS, IS THE TOUGHEST IN MY LIFE TILL THIS PRESENT TIME I WRITE THIS. CHAI! ODUA UNA TRY! Time was the enemy! So much to do but little time. I remember counting those numbers, one mistake and you start again painfully, your determination and concentration is key, don't lose it!! My best part was the E.I.D, can't remember the name clearly, but it was the one that dealt on ones personality.
Though, my mind was fixed on the exam, I was also trying to spot a 'fine girl' I could 'chat' with before leaving the venue. I succeeded in spotting two, one nearby, the other at the front row(I dey back dey observe them as dem dey sidon). Sadly, when the exam ended people dispersed anyhow and ANGER AND TIREDNESS was written on EVERYONE'S FACE! A guy was not so lucky, one of the invigilators tore his paper because he DISOBEYED instructions (submit your paper now! ODUA doesn't take such things likely, that is un-omoluabi-like from the guy).
I was able to talk with just one of my targets, a U.I chic, she makes sense no be small. I asked her for her name she responded well, I don dey get hope, she asked of my school of which I told her. I'll remember this sentence she said forever! The convo between me and her was like this. U.I chic: "what school are you in?" kavey10: "UNIBEN" U.I chic: "IS IT WORTH IT?"(i.e is it worth it for me to journey all the way from Benin City to U.I for just #100,000). I was shocked and bound in thought for a second, what kind of dumb, pompous girl is this? Didn't she come for the same exam too? As if they forced her to come and write the exam. I asked for her number she just said a sharp "NO", and walked off, I just stood there and watched her go leaving me in a state of bewilderment. I just gather myself to journey back to school, no time. I looked that proud girl's name up when shortlisting started she no even get the award last last. I wish I could show her now how it worths it in every sense! Hahahaha! Pay back is a biatch! I rest for now guys. Till Later, post your experience too ASAP. Thread of Champions!!
P.S: I don't mind meeting a 'fine girl' here too ooo! |

I'll go first guys... My moniker is kavey10, and I'm a student of UNIBEN. I got to know about the Odua Scholarship through Mr. Olsey's wonderful and informative website which is www.scholarship-nigeria.com(God bless you sir). I applied late, I think it was 5 days to go. I came on Nairaland to get gists on the matter by fellow applicants and it served me well, never knew it would be a journey that would stretch for monthsssss... I successfully applied then came the shortlisting(e no long sha, I think a month) for the exam, peeps asked bout how the exam was going to be like and MR OLSEY made a valid comment on what to study(refer to that page), I held on to that tip, I had been studying my bros' GMAT before then, I also had a spellings, synonyms and antonyms etc book I composed myself, I add new words to it too(to refresh brain na).
