"While Xenophobic attacks is a totally condemnable, the destructions that I have seen in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan and other locations on MTN and Shoprite will only hurt Nigerians and affect Nigeria more. My suggestions (as proffered by a friend Tanimowo Ayo who originally wrote this piece and I give him 100% credit for it though I greatly modified parts of it and added the 6th suggestion/solution to the ongoing debate on this #Xenophobia brouhaha confronting all. 1. Start a presidential media war by openly criticising President Ramaphosa (Lai Mohammed and the media herds of APC propagandists should set their machinery in motion, after all, they rode to power in 2015 and 2019 using and unleashing high-level of sustained propaganda and media war and we all fell for it - locally and globally) 2. Break all diplomatic ties with SA, withdraw our diplomats, expel theirs (that's if they have the nerves and will, given the pecuniary interests and affiliations the individual local and political warlords have in and with South Africa(ns)). 3. Summon an emergency AU plus UN meetings and demand Africa-wide sanctions against SA businesses (how this will work out with the diminishing status of this country as occasioned by the aloofness that typifies the current watch which Donald Trump reportey dubbed 'lifeless'). 4. Nationalise all SA-connected business in Nigeria (Allow Dangote, Mike Adenuga, Otedola and others take, nay, acquire those businesses else if nationalized and fall under the control of the leprous hands of rugarised government, the outcomes may best imagined than experience). 5. Declare SA an enemy state (this they do not have the gut to do but by the somewhat mobbish reactions of Nigerians who are already looting everything and anything South Africa, South Africans are already and constructively so, persona non grata in this country and this may be reversed by our government attaching guns wielding security details to the so called Expatriates from South Africa to wade of Nigerians from touching them) 6. Send planes to airlift Nigerians that are willing to leave South Africa immediately (But we already know this government cannot and would not do that. They have already set up and are sending out a snail pace delegation of appeasement to South Africa SHAME!!!). #SayNoToXenophobicAttacks Gbenga Taylor |
While Xenophobic attacks is a totally condemnable, the destructions that I have seen in Abuja, Lagos, Ibadan and other locations on MTN and Shoprite will only Nigerians and Nigeria more. Every foreign company by law can only own not more than 51% stake, the rest is usually reserved for local investors. So Shoprite has not less than 49% investments of Nigerians. Secondly, burning MTN outlets doesn’t make any sense. These outlets are run and owned wholly by Nigerians. The masts are powered by Nigerians meaning the diesel suppliers are all Nigerian companies. The signposts that are burnt are not owned by the South Africans. They only buy space for advert. So technically we are destroying our own. Don’t forget also that these guys don’t owned properties in Nigeria, they normally rent. My suggestions: 1. Start a presidential media war by openly criticising President Ramaphosa 2. Break all diplomatic ties with SA, withdraw our diplomats, expel theirs 3. Summon an emergency AU meeting and demand Africa-wide sanctions against SA businesses 4. Nationalise all SA-connected business in Nigeria 5. Declare SA an enemy state. #SayNoToXenophobicAttacks Tanimowo ayo |
