Hi guys, I i need your sincere advice pls.

My sister is a divorcee with two kids she is solely responsible for. Life has not been fair with her.

Finally, God brought a cute man who is based in UK her way, the man is willing to marry her and take her to the states, he has come to see our parents and also took her to see his, they have agreed to tie the nut in December this year.

The guy is currently in Nigeria and has been begging my sister to get pregnant for him, my sister knows for sure he will marry her once she is pregnant but doesn’t want to so that pregnancy doesn’t stop her from meeting other guys pending when he comes to pay her dowry. Note, they met in the club but the man still overlooked it and still proposed marriage to her.

Sincerely speaking, she wants to settle down with him but her problem is that she doesn’t want to get pregnant and stay alone all by herself pending when the man will take her and the kids to the uk, she wants to take in when she has moved to the uk, but then she is scared she might loose him before then as they are already having misunderstandings been that my sister likes hanging out with friends and going clubbing which doesn’t go well with the guy.

Now the guy is having double mind on if he can go ahead with the marriage or not, I have adviced her to take in for the man and by dec her dowry will be paid but she is adamant, pls what is the best option for her in this situation?


Take in for this guy now he is in Nigeria and secure him or wait till December and risk loosing him, note he is a very cute guy and every girls dream, my sister also is tired of life and wants to settle down, if she takes in now, by dec her pregnancy will be 3 months, she is also bothered abt wat people will say on why she took in befor she was married to the guy, my parents also especially my dad will frown at it but dey don’t know that life has not fair with her and she needs a man to call her own. Should she careless abt my parents and what people will say and take in or wait and do the proper marriage before she takes in?

She is 35 years old with two kids, no other suitor insight too.

Okay Guys another farming season has started last week I would say sorry for not being able to post since. I have just been ovewhelmed with alot of activities. I know alot would like to know if I did well in my last harvest I would say Yes it was and I learnt a valuable lesson. I would post soon but my fishes are 1month and 1 week old already and I have dug extra ponds for harvesting.

If symptoms persit try seeing an engine doctor. Mobile XHP might not be too good for that car since its above 100k milleage

so Far so good fishes has been doing good inspite os the draught of rain for over 2 weeks but God has been faithful. Just taking a eye sample my fishes are weighing on the average of 0.7kg per fish I intend to sell at the end of the month when they are four months Old by then a whole chunk of them would be weighing 1Kg and the current price the farm beside me sold in Abuja here was N650 for 1k -1.3kg and N560 for melange I would soon update the current size of my fishes just watch out. It has been God all the way inspite of several challenges thank to @ttalk He was Godsent

They can dig a driainage, I think it is those borehole people that do it they dig a hole straight into the ground sending the water back to the water bed ask the borehole people they would understand.

Hello house. I am a new comet to fish farming. I have already finished constructing 9 concrete ponds. 10ft by 20th each. Recently building a 3 rooms apartment. Two for worker's, one for storage. Please anyone with useful advice on how I could manage water waste should please help me with the information. The pond is located in a residential area with no available drainage.

This means You would spend over 1.5M feeding this fishes because 200 bags of fish at N6000 = 1,200,000 just feeding minus drugs and other operational cost.
which means each fish would eat 1,200,000/5000= N240 NOTE: we have not included operational cost, salaries, drugs etc

If You look it this figure indept You would find out it is not profitable. But If You use 60 Bags in the first 2 month You can switch to local feeding in the last two months You would not be shaken by market forces.

You should be feeding them three times a day sir, 7:30AM, 2:00AM, 6PM that is a better timing because at this stage their stomach is small and they get satiated on time and they also burn food faster change to 1:1:1 not Your 1:1:0 this might be what is causing cannibalism.

Thanks sir. I feed them twice a day (7:30a.m and 3p.m). I dont know if there are better intervals you'd expertly recommend. I hope to visit the vert shop for the antibiotics while I wait for my oga's response. You guys should keep up the good work. Y'all are a blessing to starters like myself.

SInce we switched to local food at two months we have been feeding only two times daily so as to reduce water pollution and local feed takes time to digest. we feed early morning and at night during the afternoon we give them a snack to nibble on which is an alternative to feed.

Offal: This is the most important of all complementary feed for catfish. It is one of the foremost feed used by catfish farmers in late nineties to feed their fishes. Sometimes in early nineties, offals and other internal organs of poultry are treated as waste product and often dumped at the outskirt of the town where they are produced. Following the discovery of this waste as an alternative feed for catfish, value was placed on offals and it became an important complementary feed for catfish. Sometimes they are sold above the price of pellets.
You can feed your fish with offals and other internal organs of chicken just like we do, but do not buy when the cost is too much (above N70 per kg). Be careful not to feed your fishes with other waste like gloves disposed alongside with offals to avoid mortality and also try to boil it so as to reduce transference of disease from cattle or poultry to fish.

Disadvantages:
1. You dont get to see the fish eat so You might not know when they are saturated as the feed is sinking some might go to waste.
2. If the feed is not all that compact it would dissolve before reaching the bottom and pollute the water, thereby reducing dissolved oxygen.


The waste water can be used for irrigation for crop farming but currently I do not use it for anything.

Okay I have been away for Long been working on our transition from foreign to local feed with the help of a Nairalander here @Ttalk who is a specialist in formulating local feeds we have acquired the machine and the skill required to be producing our feed inhouse.

The cost of buying foreign feed aquamax for example is #6,500 6mm for a 15kg bag which means 1kG = #433.33 if my fishes eat 10 tonne of feed which means I would spend 10,000 X 433.33 which is 4,333,000 that is what I would have to spend to hit that amount.

Now with reduced cost we can actually make local sinking feed at #250 naira per kg which means if my fishes eat 10 tonne of feeds I would spend
10,000 X 250 = 2,500,000 which is relatively fair. even though it has its disadvantages.

I weighed my fishes before transitioning today I weighed about 30 and too the average at two months and they weigh 0.3kg on the average after eating foreign food for 8weeks I stopped at 6MM because they were draining a borehole in my pocket

We thank God Boss, what would we do. Recession has got everybody working to make Nigeria a better place. You know You are still going to help in the transition to local feed.

I was at Kaykaymill farm in Abuja on Sunday and i instantly fell in love with earthen pond. His approach to his farm has been amazing and after listening to him for sometime i fond in him someone who knows his onions. He planned his business, from location of farm to construction to stocking and to choosing staff. The fish are very strong and healthy with equal growth. They are already at melange in less than 2months and it is certain they will attain very reasonable weight in 4 to 5 months.

Congrats for your courage and zeal and thanks for the entertainment.

Op ur doing great but a have a little advice for u in case of next time

Instead of using aqua max pls try top fish feed
The price difference is not more than 300 naira but check there protein content at this stage of ur fish growth they need more protein to shoot and with aqua max u can't get that type of result
When u want to sell and u scale ur fish u will understand the magic of profit margin if the cost will be too much then reduce the quantity so that after sales u will smile
If doubt me after sales quote me and proof me wrong

I bought some feeds on friday about 30 Bags of 4MM aquamax which would last them for about two weeks for those thinking that there have not been challenges meen there are alot let me list them:

1. Sometimes we have issues with Land grabbers who would come with falsified documents to claim that some part of Your land falls into theirs thank God for the fence and the people of the community we are able to wade them off.

2. During very heavy rains the flood sometimes wash sand back into the pond and we have to clear the sand back out. Some of the Pond collapsed and we have to buy wood to basically hold it from crashing in.

3. Negligence of staff: they sometimes do not pay attention to detail like taking stock and when feeding alot does wasted the hit the ground and I have to supervise them every weekend to ensure they are going with the operational plan.

Okay the advantages of Using earthen ponds are as follows;
1. They are cheap to construct.
2. They reduce operational cost as You do not need a borehole during the rainy season as the water comes out naturally from the ground.
3. There is this myth, Buyers prefer fishes from earthen pond as they say they are more tasty than the concrete pond.
4. You do need a generator when running earthen pond which reduces cost of production as a result of not digging a borehole which reduces the cost of operation like literarily imagine buyin 10 ltres every two days.

However the advantages does not mean it dosent have it down side like;

1. Sorting Your fishes to various size is like hell.
2. Its easy for predators like snake and frog to attack.
3. Managing diseases is very hard if not done by an experince hand.
4. You cant stock fishes from fingerling stage only juveniles otherwise the mortality rate would be high.
5. Sharp changes in PH level. etc
