Also there is an issue about not finding ones name on the program list. This happened to me twice, the first time it was resolved after I visited the admin, when I tried registering again it said the same thing that my name isn't on the program list I had to visit the admin again. Is there going to be a permanent solution because these issues are discouraging?
Eyaah. Sorry for this. Sometimes things like this discourages one.

Now to your issue, it does happen like that sometimes. At least I knew one person that had similar problem last semester. So my sister, you are not alone in this. The permanent solution is to visit your Sc Admin, get it reset and hope it doesn't happen again. Meanwhile, let them know at the Sc of what is happening.

CareerWhy You Are Where You Are And May Remain There Forever by Kazrem(op): 3:28pm On Oct 03, 2017
By Kazeem Abolore

This, like many of my posts, is a spontaneous article. I don’t want to shift its writing to a later day as it may like many others end-up in the shredder.

‘Why you are where you are?’ is the question that popped-up in my mind as I began to read lessons in that great book by George Samuel Clason, The Richest Man in Babylon.

Why you are where you are is because of many factors or reasons. The excuses are many, some are with you and some from others. As a pragmatic and proactive person, I don’t like blaming people, even though they might have contributed negatively to my ventures. I like taking responsibility. Taking the bull by the horn. Here are 5 reasons you are where you and may remain there – forever.

1. You Neither Read Nor Consult People Before Taking Drastic Decisions in Your Life
Many university graduates abandon reading the day they write their last paper not knowing that reading actually should begin then. That is when they ought to take admission into the school of personal development through reading books. If an average university graduate doesn’t read books regularly, what or why should an illiterate read? Worst still, most people believe they know all when taking a decision. Some are even arrogant to ask. If they do not change, they will not only remain where they are but will be there till God knows when.

“It is chiefly through books that we enjoy intercourse with superior minds. In the best books, great men talk us, give us their most precious thoughts, and pour their souls into ours. God be thanked for books.” – William Ellery Channing

2. You Refuse to Take Action on the Books You Read or Advice You Receive
Those who willingly or reluctantly read don’t act on what they read. Reading is not only for fun but also a rare opportunity to see what someone did differently thus we can do same and perhaps achieve what they achieved. You can read the best-selling book written by the best author explaining in simplest terms the secrets of success but if you do not act on them, you will remain where you are. Same it is for not following through with the advice given by an achiever.

3. You Fear You Will Be Different and May Be Called Names
Which high achiever has not been labeled before? I do not know if Jesus was called derogatory names but Muhammed was called a sorcerer, mad man, and other names. Same with other top class achievers. They were called names because they acted against the trend. They were different. A quote says, “I was laughed at because I was different but I laughed at them because they are all the same”. Until you act against the trend, you will remain where you are.

4. You Keep Doing the Same Thing the Same Way
You know what they call such person? Lunatic. He wrote an exam, failed. Retook it and did it the same way he did it. No gainsaying, he will fail. Leave God factor for now. She failed in a business, summoned the courage and started again. This time instead of doing it differently, she religiously followed the same pattern, she will fail. It’s not her village people but herself. Until you do the same thing a different way, you will always land where you landed. Abu ja o si lorun ope is a Yoruba proverb which loosely means there is no shortcut to falling from the palm tree, you end up on the ground.

5. You Keep Giving Excuses Even for the Easiest Action
While writing this, I almost took a break and gave an excuse to write it later but I didn’t. Reason? If I did, I may not write it – forever. It is said that the longer you don’t do what you ought to do, the bigger the chances you will not do it. Now think back those things – starting a business, writing a book, going to the gym – you told yourself you would do but till now haven’t done. Why? Because you keep giving yourself flimsy and irrelevant excuses. Listen, an excuse is the second easiest thing to give after blaming. No wonder it is said that you can give one thousand excuses but there is no good excuse. Tens if not hundreds of people had more than that yet they achieved success.

mployer:
You made the wrong move bro. You are consoling yourself.

You eventually ended up in government school with poor remuneration and zero opportunity for development
You think so.

Firstly the article is not about where I am now. The lesson here among others is the ability to know what to do at each stage of our life especially as it relates to developing oneself. I could have remained in the private school and remain as I was but chose skill development.

Secondly, I am now paid better, have better experience (as good as private schools maybe, real teaching is done in government school). Who said there is no opportunity for development in government school? In fact, this is where I have a better chance to developed myself. The other day, I told my principal I was going for Teacher's conference at Ikeja and she granted me. This is just one of the many permission given for development. I don't have problem whenever I want to write my school exam.

Lastly, I didn't "end" up in government. I landed my dream job. Most private schools teachers would tell you they prefer a government school to a private. Do you know the benefits of being a civil servant especially in a state like Lagos? Even in another state, it still not comparable to private schools. Except you want to mention the likes of Corona. Even they too do guarantee future incentives like that of state.
CareerWhat I Learnt From Leaving My Teaching Job by Kazrem(op): 10:37am On Sep 30, 2017
In Dec 2013, I voluntarily resigned as a classroom teacher. Then, I taught in one of the best schools in Epe. If you are familiar with my area, you would know there are schools and there are schools. This particular school is owned by a large international organization. Many of my friends questioned my decision to resign from a school that pays not only well but also regularly. A school where many people envy you once you tell them you teach in XYZ Model College. It was unreasonable to them. To tell you how unreasonable it was, I enjoyed free school bus ride to and from school, I get salary increment up to one-fourth of my salary every January. Every December, we get an end of the year package no matter how small. What again? I had a better teaching environment: electricity throughout school hour, access to the computer and many other perks. And guess what I resigned to? P.A. Personal Assistant. Not to the Governor of Senior Special Adviser (as we do have in Nigeria where an SSA also has a personal assistant, who also has a personal assistant). I resigned to work as P.A to the Supervisor, Budget and Planning of a particular LCDA. For the unknowns, LCDA is the second fiddle to a local government.

So you see it was crazy of me to do that. But I had my reasons. I knew at that point that I was still coming back to the classroom ( I now teach JSS 1-3 Mathematics in a government-owned school). But at that point in my life, there was some important life skills I needed and the job I retired to offered me the opportunity to have them. Suffice to say that within the space of one year that I worked as P.A. to the supervisor, I learnt first-hand public speaking from him and glad to say that today, even if small, I earn as a public speaker. In the space of that one year, I had free training worth over N500,000! Yes. What about the education and experience that comes with traveling? Remember it is said that traveling is part of education and you could learn in one travel what you could not learn in 1 year. I went to places I had never been before. What about meeting people? Wow! I met people and more importantly, heard them talk and most importantly, learned from their engagement. This alone was priceless. What about one-on-one mentoring? The honorable automatically became my mentor and he monitored (and still monitors) my progress in life, academics et cetera. Little wonder, I gave him the singular honor to write the foreword of my first and Amazon Bestselling book, Write To Stardom. And one more thing. I still earned at the end of each month.

To people who were not in my shoe, they couldn’t understand why I chose to resign then but I did and glad today that I did.
