BusinessHow To Cut Cost And Save More In 2020 by Kazrem(op): 1:49pm On Feb 01, 2020
In the school that my kids attend, including the twins, there is one woman who, if I am right should be in her early forties, is the school cleaner. She is so dutiful that you will never get to school and find the floor messy. I don’t have an idea of how she does it.

When my wife had a fracture in 2018 December and we had to relieve her of the kids, the twins especially, she, the cleaner, took the responsibility of the twins after school till around 5:00 pm when we will go collect them. She proved she is doubly neat at home as she is at school.

Recently my wife told me how this woman had helped her in stopping using a diaper for the twins. She narrated that she doesn’t use it for them in her house and the twins will not wee nor poo on their body. They would make a gesture that will tell anyone around them to know they wanted to wee or poo.

Since when she had helped her, my wife has not bought a single diaper for the twins.

This article is not about the woman but about the cost that she had helped my wife to cut. If she spent, say N5,000 on diaper every month before, she now has N5,000 extra that she can either save or spend.

So, few days ago, while we were talking I gave her a hint that you too can use. I told her that she should assume she’s still buying the diaper every month, after all, she didn’t plan to stop using it soonest if not the God-sent woman. I told her that she should save part of it and give the woman part of it as an addition to what we give her. That way, she would have some extra money to fall back to in case of emergency and also the woman will appreciate her and even do more to care for the twins.

Now, to you, a teacher, what cost can you reduce in your budget?

What can you remove completely?

There is always a cost in our budget that if we don’t do it, we will not die. It may even be the internet. It may be that snack. It may be visiting a friend. It may even be taking a walk to the school instead of taking a bike. It may be fueling the generating set twice instead of four times a week (as I am doing in my house now since they have stolen our transformer cable over two weeks now). It may also be buying sachet water instead of table water or even going to work with your water from home instead of buying water. It may be drinking water instead of buying soda. The list is endless. If you look at it well, you will always see.

You can even alternate some costs. Do it today and skip the next. Do it this week and skip the next. Do it this month and skip it next month.

That money, save it somewhere. Do it for a week, a month, three months, six months and one year. At the end of the day, you will not only be proud of yourself but also see that your life doesn’t depend on that thing.

Be wise with your spending. It is salary week.

Education5-day Goal Setting Challenge For Teachers And School Owners - Day 3 by Kazrem(op): 8:25pm On Jan 23, 2020
ACTIONS FOR BENCHMARKS

In day 2, you created your one big goal, stated why you want to achieve it and when you want to achieve it.

On day 2, you broke the big goal into smaller goals that will be achieved at specific period of time which are called benchmarks.

Today, you will learn what to do next. We will ask you further questions to help you achieve your goals.

Let us use the example of traveling abroad again here. You already have four benchmarks (small goals), namely,

Getting a passport
Booking ticket
Getting to the airport
Boarding the airplane

Now, for you to get to the Passport, what are the things you need to do? What actions or steps do you need to take to have an International Passport? Write four actions or steps that you will need to take to achieve the small goals or benchmarks.

For instance, for the International Passport, you may need to visit the NIS (Nigeria Immigration Office), make enquiry about the requirement, take passports and pay. Those are four simple actions to take to achieve that first benchmark. It then means that for that first benchmark, you have outlined four actions to achieve it, namely

Visitation to NIS
Inquiry about it
Taking passport photographs
Paying

You will now do the same for the other three benchmarks remaining - Booking Ticket, Getting to the airport, Boarding the aircraft.

In the end, you will have 16 simple actions for all the benchmarks.

Does it sound hard? Read this:

What we are literally doing is creating four actions for each of the benchmarks so that we can know what to do to achieve each of it.

CAVEAT:

You may not know all the actions for all of the benchmarks now. But you should strive to write the four actions for the first two benchmarks. I bet you that by the time you would finish taking actions of those ones, you would have discovered what to do on others.

EXERCISES/CHALLENGE

1. Write your four benchmarks again
2. List four actions that you will take to achieve each of those benchmarks.
3. Send this to me as a Whatsapp message to access it (07030340696)

GOAL SETTING CHALLENGE FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOL OWNERS

DAY 2

The feedback from yesterdays challenge blew me away!!

I actually had no idea hundreds of people have been yearning to set their 2020 goals.

Woah!!

I am really impressed.

In case you missed Day 1 challenge, here is the link

Today is the day 2 of the Goal setting Challenge and we will be looking at ...

BENCHMARKS

If you want to travel abroad, what are the four key things you will need to do?

Get a passport
Buy ticket
Get to the airport on the book date and
Get into the aircraft at the appointed time

What are the four key actions you need to take if you want to cook soup?

Know the soup you want to cook
List the ingredients
Go to the market to buy them
Proceed with your cooking

As is it for your cooking and travelling abroad, so it is for your goal. There are junctions or small actions that you need to be (or achieve) before you can achieve the big goal. This is what is called BENCHMARKS.

Benchmarks are specific smaller goals that you need to take a specific period of time to achieve the main goal.

Using the above example, the main goal is travelling abroad. Right? Now, getting a passport, buying a ticket, getting to the airport and entering the airplane are the benchmarks. There are smaller goals you must achieve before you achieve the main goal.

So, you need to identify four small goals you need to achieve that will lead you to achieve the main goal. Say, getting married is your goal. The four benchmarks could be, one, getting a spouse that you love and loves you, two, getting to know his or her parents, three, he/she knows your parents too, and then lastly, getting engaged. All these four small goals (benchmarks) will lead to the main goal which is getting married.

EXERCISE/CHALLENGE

1. State your goal again
2. List four benchmarks that you will need to achieve to have the main goal
3. Send this to me to help you access it via Whatsapp on 07030340696.

See you tomorrow for day 3.

5-Day Goal Setting Challenge is brought to you by The Innovative Teacher

Education5-day Goal Setting Challenge For Teachers And School Owners - Day 1 by Kazrem(op): 7:14pm On Jan 21, 2020
GOAL SETTING CHALLENGE FOR TEACHERS AND SCHOOL OWNERS

DAY 1:

What a Goal is, area to set a goal, what a goal must have and the why for your goal.

1. A goal is a projection into a future with a plan of action and a start and finish day. A goal without a start and finish day is just a wish.

A goal can be likened to a football goal post, without it there will be no purpose, destination or reason being on the pitch.

2. Areas of life to set a goal

One of the mistakes many people make about goal setting is setting a goal on finance only leaving other areas untouched.

There are other areas of life that need accomplishment as much as financial areas of life. These other areas are:

Marital life
Spiritual life
Academic life
Physical (health) life

It will be bad to achieve a financial goal at the expense of losing your eternity or even achieving academic goal while losing your marriage. This is why you must set goals in each area.

For the purpose of this goal setting challenge, we will focus on the economic/financial area of our life.

3. What a goal must have

The first mistake most goal-setters make is not including the right ingredients of a goal in their goal. Little wonder many people struggle to achieve their goal.

Here are the characteristics of a goal i.e what your goal must have while setting it:

A goal must be written down. You don't keep your goal in your head.
A goal must have a series of a plan of action to achieve this.
A goal must be broken down into smaller goals
It must have a start and finish date
A goal must be specific
A goal must be regularly seen and reviewed.

Where is the goal you want to achieve written?
What actions are you taking to achieve?
When are you starting and when are you finishing it?
What is the thing exactly?
How well do you see it or reviewed it?

4. The Why of a goal

"He who has a strong why can bear any how"
- Friedrich

You don't stop at setting a goal only, you must also know why you want to achieve what you want to achieve.

Why do you want to make the money you want to make?
What do you want to do with it?
Are you making the money to show off or prove yourself and doubters wrong?
Are you making it to buy a new phone or for travelling abroad?

This, you must clearly state alongside your goal.

EXERCISE/CHALLENGE

To get started, I suggest you grab your notebook and pen and start writing down these questions/exercise and answer them.

Set a specific financial goal for yourself for 2020

Why do you want to achieve the goal?

What is the series of action you are taking to achieve it?

When do you want to start working on it and when do you want to achieve it?

Place this where you will regularly see it

Send to me via Whatsapp to help you review it (07030340696)

Na wa ooh.. I can't even believe this challenge is free...LOL!

Enjoy and send the exercise to me to help you review it via Whatsapp on 07030340696

Education5 Days Goal Setting Challenge For Teachers And School Owners by Kazrem(op): 7:48pm On Jan 20, 2020
My name is Kazeem Abolore, an Innovative Teacher.

I am of the opinion that teachers are the most hardworking professionals.

They work with the time and adhere to it.

Right from the routine assembly to the ringing of the bell and end of term is properly scheduled and time.

A teacher that doesn't have a lesson plan is not considered a professional teacher.

From lesson plan to marking of examination scripts to recording of scores are regimented.

All of the lives of a teacher in the school is set and designed.

What then happens to his life?

Does he have anything to show for his adherence to time in his life?

Does that regimented work-life reflect in his life?

Does he use the lessons from working and adhering to time to his life?

Does his strictness to time, timetable and school calendar reflect in his life dealings?

These and many other reasons are why I have come with Goal Setting Challenge for Teachers and School Owners. It is a 5-day activity-filled exercise that will not only help teachers set goals rightly but also show them how they can achieve both their personal and career goals. It is designed to help teachers and school owners set the right foundation for the year so that they can build a strong and solid brick of action on it.

From tomorrow, 21st January to Saturday 25th, I will be posting daily challenges here that will help you to set your goal for the year so that this year can be your best year ever and it can be the year you will be proud of professionally.

This is absolutely free and will be posted here by 6:00 pm (when teachers expectedly would have closed from work) for 5 consecutive days.

I appreciate your thanks but what I will appreciate more is taking action on the Home play/exercises that will follow the challenges each day. It is only with doing the home plays and exercises that you can get the best out of the Goal Setting Challenge.

Goal. Action. Reality.

Welcome to the 5 Days Goal Setting Challenge for Teachers

Tma means Tutor Marked Assignment. It serves as your CA and it carries 30 marks.

It is objective questions having four options.

You have Tma 1 to all your courses for a certain period (14 days) within which you must do it else you miss it. For instance, the Tma 1 that is out now is available between 8th to 21st March so you must do it within that time else you miss it.

Do you understand it?
