kc007: Firstbank kept doing some things strange as per TB. My TB termination on maturity was suppose to be 10th July 2014. As usual no alert came, I went to the branch(Enugu main) today only to hear that schedule has not come from head quarters. That it can only be terminated when schedule comes, meanwhile another auction date (9th July) has passed. Pls anybody here with similar experience?

I was wrong about the above statement. My account was credited on the 11th after maturity but didn't get alert, never checked balance either. The person handling TB at the the branch was still expecting mail to this effect from head quarters.

@OP, your analogy is out of line. That a nurse prescribed rubbish is different from nurse wanting to be consultant nurse, or consultant pharmacist as the case may be. The consultant nurse will do the work of a nurse & not that of a Dr. Stop deceiving the public.

mutiply: I beg the gurus in the house to help me, these mechanics have been doing trial and error. All through yesterday, I was in the mechanic, I have started same again today without success.
They should check the top cylinder for a possible crack. I had such experience with golf3 2.0 engine, changed the top cylinder & problem was solved.

Anybody with useful info, please help. Kinda new into TB.

kc007: SIENA PLEASE HELP!
This may be a little long but please with me. Please Put me right if i've done any wrong, because you haven't responded to my posts in a while.
I thought i could prove critics wrong by buying a car i cherished so much. I fell in love with audi a4 after driving golf3, though golf3 was not withouth issues. It had problem of CTS & the model(1992) didn't have OBD port for proper diagnosis. I still use the golf3 anyway.

I ended up acquiring this my love car: audi a4, 1.8T, quattro, 2001 mod, AWD with auto trans. Around same period i got to know about car talk in nairaland, i felt the info available here will help deal with issues that may arise no matter how bad our mechanics maybe.

The present issue i'm having is erratic temperature metre reading, always reaching max mark without purely overheating. This started after a suspected failure of thermostat. The thermostat was temporally removed, but erratic temp reading(reaching) max mark continued.

I took the car for scan & the following codes were pulled:
1. Engine coolant temp sensor (G62): signal too low. Static - no indication on display.
2. Please check DTC memory of instrument cluster. P1654 - intermittent
3. Random multiple cylinder misfire detected P0300 - intermittent
4. Cylinder 2 misfire detected P0302 - intermittent
5. Cylinder 1 misfire detected P0301.

Initial search for this coolant temp sensor wasn't successful.
Ideas from this forum will help me enjoy this my loved car, otherwise i will continue to be in regrets.
I would also like to know any kind of misuse that can cause this type of proble.
Thanks & God bless you.
Another CTS was installed and the guage started reading normal.
Meanwhile the thermostat which was initially removed was intalled back again, afterwhich the engine was allowed to run for a while. The temp guage was going beyond mid mark & continuing, @ this point i suspected delay in opening of the thermostat. Another 1 hasn't been installed anyway.

For about 1 week, the car has been running without thermostat. Now the temp metre reaches mid mark(optimal opereting temp) after about 10mins of driving and stays there. The question now is: what will be the difference if a good thermostat is successfully installed?

Another experience within this period: after a day's driving in heavy traffic, the coolant expansion tank was opened the next morning & coolant was noted dropping from water pump area. This stops as you close the tank & drive.
WHAT COULD THIS BE? The mech is suspecting weak water pump.

SIENA; please your expertise opinion will be highly needed here.
These issues have lingered for a while now. Thank you as i look 4ward to seeing your help.
Car TalkRe: The Audi And Volkswagen Issues Resolution Thread by kc007(m): 6:20am On Nov 18, 2013
Siena: Random multiple misfire would suggest POS (Power Output Stage) issues. This was only fitted to older Audi A4 B5. The later B6 (and last of the B5 models) had POS integrated in the coil packs. This is why it's imperative I know what car you have.

Google Audi A4 - Wikipedia will have pictures of both B5 and B6. You'll at least know what you've got. Or you can post the VIN here, I'll be able to tell what generation of Audi A4 you have, and what model year.
The VIN is WAUDC68D51A071366

kc007: 2001 is written on the manul that came with the car, meanwhile i saw date like 20 9 2000 on the car seatbelt. So i can not categorically say the model year range.
I noticed the coolant temp sensor is the type with green head(which i read is not prone to failure).
I also did a test on the thermostat by leaving it in boiling water for about 2mins, thou there was no thermometer to ascertain the boiling temp but i saw it opened & closed back after removing it from boiling water. With this finding i think the thermostat is ok.
Mr Siena, please i'm still looking out for your. response.

kc007: Audi A4 quattro, 1.8T, 2001 year model with auto transmission. Coolant temperature rising to maximum mark instead of staying @ mid mark. Coolant level is ok & radiator fan appeared to be blowing well.

aiso_g: Pls wash your radiator and ensure there is no leak anywhere, that may just be d solution to the issue.
Radiator blockage can be a cause of overheating
There's no pure evidence of engine overheating. The pointer of coolant temperature metre is reaching maximum and this is not commensurate with temp @ engine bay. No escape of coolant noted. Could it be a malfunctioning CTS?
Car TalkRe: Help! Audi A4 Tempereture Rising To Maximum Mark by kc007(op): 7:14pm On Nov 14, 2013

The mechanic removed the thermostat, though we're yet to test it. The car was driven for up 2 miles distance, coolant temperature heating maximum, no evidence of coolant boiling.

I 've had issues with temperature switch of this car causing coolant loss.
1st was that the rubber seal of this swtch got melted, maybe by excessive heat.
After replacement, a 2nd issue was forceful pulling out of this switch from its socket while the car was running & plastic clip was still in place.
Please can use of incorrect coolant cause this or what else should be responsible. I know i've used coolant other than the recommended G12 A8D for the car.

kc007: For the fact that the temperature reaches the mid mark on the meter/guage b/4 dropping down to the 0 mark doesn't suggest failure @ open/partial open position, otherwise there won't be initial shifting of the pointer. What are other features that can be seen to affirm this? Meanwhile i'l observe it for the mean time.
@mr Siena, i observed it again and noticed that the coolant temp metre gets to the mid mark and stays there.
You kno this car has auto trasmission, it has no place to check the gear box oil level like the case of engine oil. Does one has to only depend on the computer display to know when thre's issue with gear box oil level?

Siena: Just to be clear here - when the temperature drops to the 1st marking on the coolant gauge, is this when the car is on the move, driving at a constant speed (mostly highway)? Or with city and mixed driving, whereby there's a lot of down shifting going on?
Yes when the car is on the move, both in highway(constant speed) and city(mixed) driving. Actually is a source of worry to me.

kc007: Make: Audi
Model: A4 quattro
Engine: 1.8T

Could this be a probem? Ideas needed from people with experience.
The coolant temperature of this car was aways @ mid mark on the metre(guage), AC or no AC & shortage of the coolant was being noticed, so it has to be topped to get to max mark every 2 days or so.
No physical leak was seen until green colour coolant was used. At this point it was noted that the rubber seal of the temperature switch has melted, so the leak is from there & it was replaced.
After replacement of the rubber seal the coolant level hasn't reduced in about 1 week now. But the issue @ hand is this: the tempereture guage reaches the mid mark once in the morning, maybe after 5 - 8mins of using the car 1st in a day. After a while of staying there, it drops down to the 1st mark on the meter(which i guess is 0) & stays there for rest of the day no matter how hot the weather maybe, AC or no AC. Hope my explanation is understood.
My question: Is this normal or is there any possible malfunction? If normal, that means maybe the engine doesn't operate @ optimal temperature all day. If not what could be responsible? Meanwhile no display to this effect on the dash.
Please any body with idea help out! Thank u.

kc007: @ ZIM DRILL, it seems i'm into more problems now about the braking system. The mechanic uncoupled the system again in attempt to clean it up for any possibe change. The only improvement is absence of resistance when brake is applied during the brief period of ABS light off(as desribed earlier). Meanwhile there's another development- about 12hrs later brake light pops up & continued dimming, though got cleared after stopping & restarting the car, then came up in the same form about 12hrs later again. He didn't work elsewhere except the left front wheel area & hand break is completely disengaged.
The mechanic's idea is exhausted & i don't know where else to go. His opinion now is that i can't get those lights off the instrument cluster, that there's no problem as long as the brake is working.
Persnally i know there's problem. Please what do you suggest i do?

Car TalkAbs Light Off & On Issues by kc007(op): 10:28am On Sep 22, 2013
Pleaae this maybe a little long, just trying to explain the issues properly.
The car is audi a4, 2001 model equiped with ABS, 1.8T engine,AWD with Auto transmission.
Had a reason to work on the left front wheel b/c of persistent 'kpuru kpuru' noise coming from there.
Mechanic diagnosed faulty disc bearing & worn shaft tread, so he had to loose it & took the whole system (hub) to a workshop where the bearing will removed & replaced.
He did this with the ABS sensor still on the hub.
After coupling it back the ABS light shows whn ignition is on.
I noticed dt & asked him why, he realised dt there's a round metal(looking like shaft cover clip, don't kno d real name) he suppose to fit on the shaft b/4 locking it on the disc. He has to uncouple the system & fit that metal(which he thinks is the sensor).
Now when the igition is on, the ABS light comes on but goes off after 2 mins or so, then comes on again in about 5mins later & remains on. Within that 5mins the the light is off i notice the brake don't hold smoothly, but smoothens whn the like is on.
I took the car to scan the ABS thinking resetting could solve that, but found out the 1 @ left front wheel isn't communicating with the scanner. They checked the cables & they're all fitted.
Could it be dt the sensor has been damaged or the system is not properly fitted?
Please any body with idea, help.
