leum Resources, Mr. Ibe Kachikwu, on Monday, disclosed that the country is seeking to raise between $40 billion and $50 billion from Chinese investors in the next couple of days to bridge infrastructure funding gap in the Nigerian petroleum industry.
This was even as he stated that Nigeria’s crude oil output has risen to 1.9 million barrels per day and would rise further to 2.2 million barrels by next month when repairs are completed on some of the damaged pipelines.
Kachikwu, stated this in an interview with Bloomberg Television, on the sideline of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC-China Investors’ Roadshow 2016 in Beijing.
The roadshow, the NNPC stated was a follow up to President Muhammadu Buhari’s visit o China in April. Kachikwu, the NNPC said, led a powerful team of NNPC top management and key stakeholders to the roadshow.
Kachikwu also disclosed that the meeting has started to yield positive report, as a potential deal for $8.5 billion of investment with North Huajin Chemical Industries Group Corporation (Huajin Group) under China North Industries Group Corporation (NORINCO GROUP) has already been signed.
According to Kachikwu, the country is eyeing such investment from China, which he said has a huge capacity to put money in the oil sector, while he added that a lot of companies in China are showing significant interest in investing in Nigeria.
He said, “We just came out of signing a global $8.5 billion potential investment by one of the companies, NORINCO, in the upstream business in Nigeria. We are beginning the major road show this afternoon (Monday). We are looking to raise about $40 to $50 billion which covers the infrastructure gap that we see in Nigeria. So the interest is enormous.”
Kachikwu lamented that over the years, Nigeria, as well as a few other countries, had failed to invest in covering the infrastructure gap in the downstream sector, in pipelines, refining and gas to power.
According to him, the need for new resources is very key, especially as the country does not have those resources, while he stated that going to places like China, which had shown a huge capacity to put money in the oil sector, is very helpful.
Commenting on the dwindling oil price and its impact on investing in Nigeria, Kachikwu said, “As much as we do agree that the price of oil has slid, obviously, and creates a lot of challenge for investors. But the reality is that for countries like Nigeria and indeed for most OPEC countries, you still find that price per cost barrel of oil, it still provides enough incentives.
“And what we need to do is continue to drive down our cost, create policies that are encouraging, focus government attention on the long and short term gains and encourage investors, both from the point of view of investing in a country like Nigeria and also looking at how Nigeria impacts the whole of Africa. This country is an important place to put money in, in the oil sector at least.”
Furthermore, Kachikwu debunked reports that Nigeria’s crude oil production had recorded significant decline over the last couple of months, stating that from January right to April of this year, Nigeria is producing an average of 1.9 million to 2.2 million barrels per day, which is basically within the threshold of 2.2 million barrels that was budgeted for the year.
He, however, noted that in the months of May and June, the country suffered a lot of militant attacks which took the country’s crude oil output down from about 2.2 million to 1.3 million barrels.
On ways to shore up the country’s oil output, he said, “We have managed to have begin to lead conversation with the militants. A lot of engagement is taking place on the authorization of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari; we have been able to get production up back to about 1.8 million to 1.9 million barrels per day as of two days ago. We are continuing those conversations.
“By the time the Forcados pipeline is repaired, in July, we should be able to come back to expected production ceiling for this year, which is 2.2 million barrels and begin to look if we can increase a bit, to enable us to cover the gap of the two to three months hiatus that we had.
“Things are looking up, engagements are trending positively, and we have been able to make in-road into those conversations. But what is more important is the need to continue that momentum and to look for a long term solution to the Niger Delta crisis that continues to create the militancy difficulties that we

pls permit me to ask, where is all the money recovered from looters and tsa ? oil I suppose is selling above benchmark, so how come we are to borrow and pay salary when fed.gov is mapping out intervention fund for some state.pls can someone explain to me wht and were we got it all wrong.....is it that adeosun is lying or fed spokes men are not serious.

By Michael Eboh
The Minister of Finance, Mrs. Kemi Adeosun, Thursday, said the ministry cannot afford to pay the N1.2 billion requested by its workers, while she confirmed that the Federal Government was already borrowing funds to be able to pay the N165 billion a month needed to cover civil service salaries.
Adeosun, in a statement in Abuja, after the meeting held with protesting workers of the Ministry of Finance on Wednesday, said she does not have any power to pay N1.2 billion, which was not in the budget of the Ministry.
According to her, all government departments currently face a very real squeeze in finances as the country grapples with the financial crisis inherited from previous administrations, adding also that the collective priority, therefore, must be on working together to get the whole economy back on its feet.
She stated that the most important thing for management and staff was to get a common understanding of what the government needed to do to regain financial stability.
She said she intend to work with staff of the Finance Ministry to see how, together, those plans could be implemented as quickly as possible, thereby stimulating growth within a new diversified economy.
She expressed understanding for the Ministry of Finance staff who felt they should get additional bonuses, based on their past dealings with the previous administration, while she pointed out that many people across the country were struggling to find work or losing their
jobs, in addition to the fact that fellow civil servants in many states are not getting their salaries.

I expect to see my brothers dancing here. The idiots hailing these terrorists have even managed to console themselves that "as long as they are not killing people then they are fighting a good cause" I mean How will YOU eat when they finally achieve their aim of crippling the country? Do you now see how irredeemably Godforsakenly dumb you are? The only followers they can gain are people who never like Buhari and who wish him evil just because he won their hero/brother.
For crying out loud even the king of ogoni land admited GEJ failed them. The Fulani herder is the very one implementing something that was ready for approval since forever, The same man who made sure that he didn't sign the 2016 budget until the Lagos-Calabar rail project was included, something our so-called reps and senators didn't give a hoot about! Are these not things that benefit the common ND man and Nigeria at large? What do you want to do with govt appointments? Are you lobbying for posts for yourself or your family member? What else do you bloody baboonistic species want? Buhari's head?? The so-called brother who was at the helm of affairs for over 5 solid years did absolutely nothing. What did he do for the area apart from making a few militants and elites billionaires who didn't even see fit to donate a tap to their communities?? Yet some irredeemable foolish imbecilic dumb battalion ingrediential buffoonish nincompoops are still here allowing the devil use them to cause mass sufferings. "Not killing people" my round asss!
The way I'm seeing my people hailing terrorists I'm even beginning to think that we are much wicked and violent than the North because I don't remember Northerners coming out en masse to support BH or the herdsmen killings the way my people are all over the place cheering these guys on as if they themselves are not suffering. I mean what kind of hate will make you choose to die of hunger than allow someone who is not your brother feed you? Even the devil must be shuddering in hell right now! The comments whenever there's news of bombings and likes on such comments make me throw up. Like seriously are we cursed I'm seriously ashamed of telling people I'm from South South now. I'm really not very proud of telling people I'm from this region at the moment. Just too embarrassing!

sorry bro that I have to quote you....if I may ask, if you got 10 children and 3 become rebellious what will you do? kill them? now my point, our presido should reach out to them, yes he should because they are part of the ppl he is to govern. not supporting whatever they are doing but am of the school of thought that there should be father and son discus here bro.now I tell you this, Nigeria is the most peaceful place with peaceful inhabitants.are you not suffering enough to stand and ask ?s.seems our dear president got ill and bad advisers, just staying.

Now the same man who hates the 5% has rejected the budget and returned it to the senate for the removed projects to be re-included, but some of you are insulting the man of being confused and delaying.

You know before now I really underestimated the psychological damage that could arise from people having their preferred candidate losing an election. But it is now clear a lot of people are still in psychological trauma.

Interesting.

The part where he said the Easterners were not chasing him from the East, is really an Eye opener. The truth is, if i were him i probably would have stayed back in the East and fought on the side of those that freed me from Prison.

He could have been killed when the Eastern Soldiers Soldiers met him in Prison.

His interview, also confirmed to us what we had known for a long time, and that is, ZIK and other top Eastern Politicians were tipped off by the Eastern Coup Plotters, and that is why they were conveniently not around, when they struck.

I have also followed the stories, and the name calling of those from the West as "COWARDS" as this years. But, reading this story now, will tell you it was actually the East that played a fast one on the West, by hiding their own Politicians while killing those from the North and West.

A very interesting interview.

NO.

I'm not in any way tribally biased but to come to think of it only a brainwashed Ibo man will dare leave his business for Biafran protest placard. That is most 'un-Iboish'.

Why the agitation? I don't see the Ibo man marginalized, in every part of the country were there is trade and commerce the Ibo man has an 'Eze Ndigbo' so also have the Ibos been formidable allies and opposition in the Nigerian polity(even to the highest echelon).
What has been happening to Eastern state budget allocation(the utillization)is what someone should be bothered about. Corruption has eaten into the fabrics of a great country leaven the citizenry in anguish, suspicion and confusion. Hunger in the most remote places on earth has been known to turn the most civillized men into carnibals. Naturally, hungry men come very mean.

Oh! Our difference in our cultural background?,difference does not mean evil. DIFFERENCE blends well with UNDERSTANDING and TOLERANCE, in the same light it is evil when assumption, suspicion and prejudice is the result of what people who's cultural background are different from yours(you can take that to the Bank)

I'm a Yoruba man, I would gladly marry my daughter man to an Hausa, Fulani, Ibo or Delta man if he posesses the necessary virtues and qualities of a God-fearing and decent person.

Biafra is not an alternative. If we can't live together in the same country, we'll eventually be territorial enemies in the future. Think of the future of our children(some are inter-married).

LET'S SQUASH THE BEEF, SHOW LOVE, NOT SUSPICION BASED ON TRIBALISTIC SENTIMENTS.

couldn't help but quote you bro......no you can not, let alone gladly cause I know it deep down your mind you will never marry your daughter to an IBO man...do you know why? most of you guys are tribalisc and would do everything to keep your daughter far from an IBO man, that is why as soon as you give birth to a child you start feeding him/her with your hatred and reason why they should not marry IBO......to be frank we would have been better off one country but no we are not one at all....if a Yoruba man can go to UK and become oba or call it mayor. if an IBO man can go to USA and voteed for in election why cant we acclaimed country allow an IBO oba in the west? bro once again too much envy and hatred is the bane of our problem so I think we got no choice than to break maybe by so doing we will be able to foster love as neighbouring country which is the greatest command to mankind.

Is the baby on breastmilk only? If yes, den it's normal, some breast fed babies don't poo so often, the mum should drink oranges so that the baby receives it from breast milk.

But if the baby is also bottlefed, then you should give the baby some water. Clean safe sterile drinking water. She will poo after a short while.

Alternatively, sun can work. The 1st time my baby didn't poo for3days, we took her out cos I had to go to the bank and the moment sun touched her face, the poo she released eh! She never hexperredit!

And yes, am back in nigeria

He may also be generally uncomfortable with the environment which could cause lack of sleep! although generally at that age they don't sleep much. How many layers of clothes is he wearing? Is the room airy(shouldn't be too cold or windy oh)?

If you're extremely concerned by his not pooing maybe you should see a Dr.

Yes, the infection triggered labor pains, it was crazy, like i was being divided into two.

Pls ask the doctors if they ran a urine culture to rule out urinary track infection. The symptoms also mimics malaria and typhoid. The only treatment is intravenous antibiotics, very aggressive treatment, i had to be sedated with benadryl because I started itching and dancing makossa when they ran it. I've forgotten the name.
For the preterm labour it was iv fluid and water they kept giving me, and monitoring the contractions with machines they hooked me up to. Keep giving wifey water to drink, gallons for the pain to stop. Also apply hot compress to her back. But please make sure theu treat UTI . Is she shivering? Once shivering starts, its an indication the infection has started spreading.to the kidneys.

It is well. She will overcome

no she is not shivering but runs a very high temp at night and covers her body ....took her to hospital yesterday and she was placed on bedrest with and some soda treatment...when I saw her this morning ,I was d one that actually woke her up,more so she noticed white tiny form after flush of urine which does not go away.....the doc demanded her first urine for a test this morning.

that for now is what we awaits next.....thanks a lot and pls help me with the name of the drug they gave you.....hope your baby is warming up for his ceremonial arrival?

I remember when i was 6mths gone, i had fever shivering, vomiting, thought it was malaria. I was home for 4 days and went into preterm labor b4 i carried myself to hospital.
im in america, and on dignosis it wasnt malaria or typhoid, instead it was a uti that had spread to my kidneys because i delayed. I was in labour and delivery overnight as they tried to stop the labour and flush the kidneys while treating the.infection. it wasnt a small something, but I thank God all d same, we r still bumping along.at 9mths, waiting for month end.

Moral of the story, delay is dangerous! ESP with fever in preg. Only God knows how the story would have ended

hmmm...in fact they gave her bed rest in hospital; meanwhile she was diagnosed of malaria plus 160 and typhoid 180.meanwhile my worries became serious when after d treatment she still feel high temp at nyt.....she on drip now will see it goes which I know it will be well because ancient of Days is aware.....but where u feeling pains during your time
