Politics › Re: Amaechi Picks ADC ₦90M Nomination Form For 2027 Presidential Race by Kdon2: 3:01am On May 09 |
JohnMo2: Former Rivers State Governor and immediate past Minister of Transportation, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, has formally entered the 2027 presidential race under the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), following his purchase of ADC presidential nomination form.
The nomination form was obtained on his behalf on Friday by former Edo State Governor and prominent ADC chieftain, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, at the party national headquarters in Abuja, in what political observers have described as a major development capable of reshaping the opposition landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Amaechi’s formal entry into the contest has already generated widespread political interest across the country, with many stakeholders describing him as one of the most experienced and nationally recognised figures within the opposition coalition.
A seasoned administrator and influential political mobiliser, Amaechi brings decades of governance experience spanning the legislative arm, State administration, and federal executive service. His political trajectory continues to command significant attention due to his strong grassroots networks, national visibility, and reputation for decisive leadership.
As Governor of Rivers State, Amaechi oversaw extensive infrastructural transformation, educational reforms, and urban development projects that positioned the State among Nigeria’s leading sub-national economies. His administration’s investments in road construction, healthcare, and model educational institutions remain notable aspects of his governance legacy.
At the federal level, his tenure as Minister of Transportation was marked by renewed focus on railway modernisation and transportation infrastructure. Strategic rail projects such as the Abuja-Kaduna and Lagos-Ibadan rail lines emerged as signature initiatives during his stewardship of the ministry.
Political analysts believe the decision by respected elder statesman John Odigie-Oyegun to personally obtain the nomination form on Amaechi’s behalf further signals growing confidence in his candidacy within influential political circles.
The development is also expected to strengthen the profile of the ADC as political consultations and alignments intensify ahead of the next electoral cycle.
With his formal entry into the race, Amaechi is increasingly being projected as one of the frontline presidential aspirants capable of mounting a formidable national campaign built on experience, political structure, and administrative capacity.
As the political atmosphere gradually gathers momentum toward 2027, the ADC presidential contest is expected to attract heightened national attention, with Amaechi’s candidacy already emerging as a major talking point within Nigeria’s evolving democratic landscape.

WizardOfNG: Akpabio is not going anywhere. Nigerian politics is adversarial, hardly ever progressive, and based almost entirely on self-interest.
Meaning even when a President wants to do good then many can stand in his way because they believe his actions will take away their 'food'.
A Nigerian President needs a 100% loyal 'battering ram' Senate President who will (1)Protect him and (2) ensure he gets his way.
Akpabio is a very good SP for PBAT. He will remain SO for that reason. Same way Wike too is almost untouchable under PBAT. I don't see bat trading Senate presidency to anyone except akpabio. It's just distraction |
Politics › Re: “You’re Presiding Without Appropriate Qualification” — Oshiomhole by Kdon2: 7:36am On May 08 |
AMINDA: But Oshiomole was in the Senate and kept mum when Tinubu began walking back and altering many legislations, especially in the electoral act to give himself an advantage. E.g, decriminalising certificate forgery and age falsification as grounds for disqualification, eliminating indirect primaries and giving governors leeway to handpick candidates, etc. This is why a president must lead by example with integrity. Since the head is doing it, others slightly below the chain are also beginning to feel entitled. You lack knowledge, try fix that |

brain54: I'm one of those that would be happy if akpabio is gotten rid of as senate president...
The guy is a clown and a misfit for the role.
Rules are rules and are they for a reason. But I'm also curious why oshiomole is just raising the issue now about his qualification especially after his brush/clash with the SP after almost 4 years.
Not withstanding akpabio is tibunu's errand boy and nothing would come out of this in the end because he would be protected. Especially since the oga in aso rock doesn't care about rules.
Oshiomole is a veteran politician with a strong voice in the Senate that's why he can even speak up but this will only cause noise for some time and the dust will settle down with the clown still retaining his position.
The short devil isn't fighting the cause of the common man/people... never get that part twisted.
They are all the same- bunch of selfish, theiving bumble heads with only their interests at heart! I agree absolutely |

ThiefnubuBandit: Tinubu is behind the noise about Jonathan's interest to contest 2027 presidential election. His aim is to cause political distractions in the South-South states, especially Delta, Edo, and Rivers States. His tactics is a dirty form of amala politics where propaganda is the order of the day. Heffalump: What's Goodluck Ebele Jonathan still looking for in Aso Rock? May be he forgot his shoes there.
He wasted and misused his time. It's better for him to resign to Stateman role like Obasanjo and co.
He's being deceived by John Mahama of Ghana, who pulled a return after 8 years. It won't work in Nigeria because his time is over. Jonathan is going to lose flatly. The north don't trust him. They haven't forgiven him. The likes of atiku will work against him silently. |
