Preamble

We, representatives of indigenous peoples in Western Nigeria comprising of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ekiti, Ondo, Kwara, Kogi and parts of Delta and Edo States gather here on this day, March 25 and 26, 2026 in Lagos to deliberate on Democracy and Good Governance in Nigeria: Politics, Economy, Livelihood, Peoples Power and the Future of South West.

At the conference were friendly observers from Ijaw Nation, Middle Belt, South -South, South East and Northern Nigeria. The first day was the main conference while the second day was the Closed Working Group session;

That the gathering drew from the South West, journalists, academics, lawyers, health workers, labour movement, vigilante groups, traditional worshipers, Muslims, Christians, free thinkers, artisans, traders, students, workers, teachers, civil servants, peasants, farmers and the masses in rural and urban areas. That we represent dwellers of lowland and plainfield, of hills and the seashores across Western Nigeria;

That we are indigenous in this ancient territory. Our history spans over two thousand years, from generation to generation until what is now known as Nigeria was created by the British without free, prior and informed consent of our people;

DELIBERATIONS

That since the forceful amalgamation of the different ethnic groups in 1914, we, Yoruba, Itsekiri have striven to seek accommodation with other ethnic groups, irrespective of diverse and sometimes hostile and violent clash of civilisations, but all efforts have led to ceaseless conflict including wars and now new spasms of terrorism brought to our indigenous territories;

That we the indigenous people of Western Nigeria had self determination in the ancient times and even under colonial rule in the early 1950s which provided the opportunity for our finest, Chief Obafemi Awolowo to launch free education and free health in 1954, starting with 400,000 students with huge success to the awe of international community;

That the Western Region built the most progressive economic, cultural and social units so advanced that it surpassed developments in some European countries;

That the progress drew a combination of jealousy, external aggression, threats and detention of our leaders; economic, social and cultural growth was stunted with the 1966 coup and Decree 34 which forcefully merged Nigerian diverse values leading to a garrison state to the peril of our economy, culture and spirituality;

That attempts by us to develop at our own pace have consistently been violently attacked through a combination of military coups,subversion of democracy, denial of opportunities for the best of our people and the conscious undermining of our potentials through political, economic and cultural onslaughts;

That the 1962 trial of Obafemi Awolowo and the annulment of the June 12 election was a manifestation and continuation of the historic injustice inflicted on Yoruba people by a tiny but cruel and vociferous cabal;

That since 1960, attempts by the Yoruba people to transform their ancestral home on their own terms through the prism of egalitarian and welfarist structures have been violently decimated sometimes through the barrels of the gun;

That for 66 years, the control of power and politics in Nigeria has been in the hands of a tiny, reactionary and backward cabal, with their local collaborators, that do not only impose savage theory and rookie candidates on the country but work against progressive forces that have the potential to lift the South West and Nigeria from stupor.

The consequences are unprecedented human misery,corruption, violence, economic and cultural genocide;

That a long history of corruption, economic woes and human torture and even trauma, combined with the fascist security, political and economic structures of the Nigerian state make meaningful transformation of South West and Nigeria practically impossible;

That the political space is polluted by corruption, ingrained immorality, gangster-ism which have become virtues and accepted standards and credentials needed to seek elected positions, pushing into the dust bin the finest of Yoruba political class;

We recognise and value the return of Nigeria to democracy in 1999. While democracy has its shortcomings, it is by far better than military rule which is the past time and preference of the caliphate and its agents;

That at present, poverty, poor governance, corruption are major threats to democracy but the worst threat being the spread of coordinated radical extremism, the mushrooming of armed groups some deliberately designed to blackmail and muzzle the country to submission at the foot of a backward Caliphate system;
That Nigeria is bedeviled by an extremist theocratic clan that does not separate religion from the state but thinks the whole essence of seeking political power is to implement and impose extremist religious laws on a country ruled by them, on their own terms, which is responsible for the unprecedented campaign of terror across the country at great human toll;

ELECTRICITY AND INDUSTRIALISATION

That today, in terms of access to electricity, Nigeria is one of the worst places on earth to live. The lack of electricity is linked to the control of DISCOs by a criminal, incompetent gang of crooks which has crippled the prospect of industrialization;

DISCOs in South West are riddled with corruption, unleash human pains and sufferings, the lost of humanity in administration, and the hell-bent desperation of the DISCOs managers to continue to feast on the rot without shame;

Despite the mass denial of electricity, DISCOs in 2025 made profit of N2.33trn, smiling to banks while Nigerians bleed.

That at present, the South West is facing energy doomsday due to the lack of electricity with over 60 percent of the industrial sector in the South West facing total collapse due to the incompetence, economic hooliganism and savage accumulation of profit by groups like Ikeja Electric among others;

That today, the managers of DISCOS especially Ikeja Electric,led by Mr Kola Adesina represent the number 1 enemy of Yoruba people, constitute the greatest threat to industrialisation and social order in the South West;

That the Ikeja Electric denial of electricity to preserve sensitive military armaments at Ikeja in Lagos could have led to explosions and mass deaths of Yoruba people, therefore the act constitute attempted genocide;

That delegates will mobilise to join the proposed Nigerian Labour Congress, (NLC) peaceful protest against DISCO bloody exploitation and the policy of mass scam;

That the people of the South West should take note of the calamity that has been unleashed on Yoruba people by DISCOs which has stunted social, cultural and economic growth, muddled the future of artisans and Small and Medium Enterprises across the South West;

Today, the South West is losing her reputation as the economic hub of Nigeria; poverty rate is high, anger, hunger and starvation define the face of our people largely due to poor energy supply, large-scale corruption in the country and lack of vision by the political class;
Delegates observe the poor, diminishing quality of Education in the South West, the increase in the use of illicit drugs by youths and the near collapse of Yoruba values in the absence of concret action by the Government to tame the tide;

GAINS OF THE PAST

Delegates commend the creation of NEFUND which has opened windows of opportunities for South West students to obtain loans while noting the challenges of poor education infrastructure;

We commend the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu State Police proposal, efforts to restructure the security architecture, the creation of the South West Development Commission, (SWDC), the Lagos-Calabar highway project, the restructuring of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC) and construction of the Lagos-Sokoto highway among others;

We commend the current campaign of the Federal Government against terrorism and support every positive step taken to halt the spread of terror in Nigeria;

However, we strongly condemn attempts to scuttle democracy indicated in the last aborted military coup by some despotic elements to plunge the country into chaos with plans to kill President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other top government officials.Having exhaustively debated the economic, political and social situations in Nigeria, we hereby make the following
DECLARATIONS

HOMELAND SECURITY

We support the call by the Director of State Security Service, Mr Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi that communities should be trained to bear arms and serve as the first line of resistance against terrorism;

We call on the Federal Government to immediately implement this strategy;

We call for the immediate decentralisation of the Nigerian Defence Academy, (NDA), the Nigerian Military School, Zaria, into the six zones of the Federation so that each zone should have its own Military Academy and Military Schools. This should apply to the navy and the Airforce and the Police training institutions. This is the strategy in India which has made military coup impossible since 1948;

COUP PLOT

We vehemently condemn the covert and overt plots to create anarchy in Nigeria towards making the country ungovernable and vulnerable to military take over by a combination of politicians and feudal, sectarian lords;

We warn that any military intervention will automatically plunge Nigeria into VIOLENCE.

It may lead to the emergence of nuclear armed resistance groups including but not limited to the prospect of guerrilla warfare across the country with devastating consequences for West Africa;

We call for the speedy trial of the alleged coup plotters and if found guilty, they must face the full weight of the law, including death to serve as deterrent to future coup adventurists;

We submit that the coup was nothing but an ethnic agenda to return the country to dictatorship;

TERRORISM IN YORUBALAND

That the increase in terrorism is partly political, sponsored by political actors desirous of retaining power in a section of the country with the design to make the country ungovernable;

In the past five years, four traditional rulers have been killed in the South West by terrorists of Fulani extraction;

In the strongest term, we condemn the ravaging terrorists that have taken over South West territories, killing and maiming our people, men, women, infants and even pregnant women being slaughtered by Fulani terrorists;

The latest is the planting of Improvised Explosive Devises, (IED) on highways to kill Yoruba people. This was recorded in Woro, Kiama in Kwara State where it killed a man while a woman and her child were wounded;

We urge South West communities to organise and protect themselves from Jihadists. We call on the South West states to arm Amotekun with all the necessary equipment including drones and sophisticated weapons to be able to repel armed Jihadists;

We call on the South West states to set up Western Bureau of Intelligence with a school on Intelligence to serve as a training pool for modern intelligence on crime, terrorism and bandit prevention across the region;

We condemn the cold complicity of a section of the Fulani elite including the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III , Sheik Ahmad Gumi, Abubakar Malami, Mallam Nasiru El-Rufai, Abubakar Malami among many others who have refused to speak against the on-going genocide instead, employ rhetoric that tend to support the terrorists or provide intellectual shield for them;

That the Yoruba and especially the Muslim community in Western Nigeria are disappointed in the suspicious role of the Sultan of Sokoto who is the head of the Fulani in West Africa.

Why the Sultan is quick to make calls for the release of former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nassir El Rufai, but remains conspiratorially silent on the gruesome murder of Yoruba people including numerous Yoruba Muslims by the Fulani terrorists, including the murder of five Yoruba traditional rulers, while he remains silent on other heinous crimes committed by his people;

That no inch of Yoruba Land is available for Sharia. Every state in Nigeria where Sharia has been introduced indicates clearly that Sharia is a decoy for terrorism and elite repression of the poor;

We hereby call on all Yoruba indigenous people to prepare to resist by all means possible, the ceaseless terror campaign by Fulani armed men;

If terrorism and their sponsors do not halt their evil campaign, We insist on self determination of the Yoruba-Itsekiri people and the right to self determination should be included in the Nigerian constitution up to succession as proposed during the 1957 Conference at the Lancaster House by Chief Obafemi Awolowo;

RESTRUCTURING

We call for the restructuring of Nigeria and the creation of state police before the 2027 Elections to reflect self determination;
We call on the Independent Electoral Commission, (INEC) to stop the delineation of wards in Itsekiri land that may in anyway undermine the security and electoral strength of Iwerre Land. We assert that any attack on Itsekiri is an attack on Yoruba Nation;

EDUCATION AND CULTURE

The order of the Minister of Education, Dr Alausa prohibiting indigenous language is akin to cultural genocide and a conscious attempt to erase Yoruba history and culture; The South West States should defy this draconian and imperialist order;
We call on the Federal Government to return back all Western Nigeria property and institutions, some stolen at gun point under the military by the Nigerian government or poorly managed which includes but not limited to Obafemi Awolowo University, the Liberty Stadium and the National Stadium in Lagos to the governments of the South West States for effective management;

KWARA STATE

We call on the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq to immediately remove the tag Ahmadu Bello House from the Kwara State Government House. Kwara is purely a Yoruba State. Renaming the structure after Ahmadu Bello constitutes a divisive, provocative and irresponsible action that must be reversed immediately.

2007 ELECTIONS

We call on the indigenous people of Western Nigeria to come out and vote in large numbers. While the system is filled with imperfections, staying away from the polling units is self destructive; The South West has the potential to record 25million votes ;

While we insist on restructuring, we declare full support for power rotation. The next President of Nigeria in 2027, in lieu of restructuring of Nigeria for self determination, must come from the Southern part of the country;

This is not negotiable.
The AYDM will soon meet to adopt a common position on the 2027 Presidential candidate.

AmeboFeeds:
Ojomu Royal Family Youth Wing slams Faceless Group’s 72-Hour Ultimatum To Lagos CJ, names Fakorede, Akinloye, Olagbade As Alleged Masterminds

The Youth Wing of the Ojomu Royal Family has strongly condemned the 72-hour ultimatum issued to the Lagos Chief Judge by a faceless group, describing the move as baseless and provocative.

In a statement released on Saturday, the group alleged that the individuals behind the anonymous threat have been identified as Basir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Benson Olagbade, urging authorities to investigate their roles and bring those responsible to justice.

Full Statement:

Rejoinder: The So-Called "Concerned Youth Movement" And Its 72-Hour Ultimatum To The Lagos State Chief Justice

The attention of the Youth Wing of the Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran, Eti-Osa Local Government Area of Lagos State, has been drawn to a reckless and unfounded publication by a faceless group styling itself as the “Concerned Youth Movement,” purporting to issue a 72-hour ultimatum to the Chief Judge of Lagos State.

Ordinarily, such a puerile and intellectually hollow publication would not merit any response. However, the deliberate distortions, calculated falsehoods, and sustained attempt to mislead the public compel this rejoinder.

For the avoidance of doubt, the so-called “Concerned Youth Movement” is nothing but a phantom platform, a contrived vehicle deployed by known actors, including Bashir Fakorede, Jide Akinloye, and Benson Olagbade, among others, to further their long-standing agenda of intimidation, harassment, and misinformation.

At the core of this orchestrated campaign is a pattern of conduct marked by greed, oppression, and an alarming disregard for truth.

These individuals, acting in concert with Oba Tijani Akinloye and Alhaji Yekini Bakare, have for years presided over the systematic exploitation of Ajiranland to the detriment of its rightful beneficiaries.

Despite the vast land resources associated with the family, its people continue to suffer deprivation and marginalization under the very individuals entrusted with their welfare.

Their recent actions expose a deeper desperation. In a bid to weaponize state institutions, there was an evident abuse of office by Moshood Olorundare Jimoh, the immediate past Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, now elevated to Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2.

His conduct in the matter was not only questionable but demonstrably partisan.

In a most troubling development, the services of N. W. Watson who had been suspended since 2023 by the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee were procured to obtain an ex-parte order in Suit No. MISC/60A/2026 on 16th February 2026 for the arrest and remand of Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi.

The application was fundamentally defective, riddled with falsehoods, and initiated by a person without legal standing to appear before any court of law in Nigeria at the material time.

Predictably, upon rigorous legal challenge by counsel to Hammed, the order was set aside on the 23rd March, 2026 by the same Magistrate who granted it thereby affirming the sanctity of due process and exposing the illegality underpinning the entire exercise.

Unable to sustain their unlawful enterprise, these actors have now resorted to a campaign of calumny against the judiciary, making baseless allegations against Magistrate Owolabi and dragging the name of Magistrate Alogba who had no connection whatsoever to the matter into their web of deceit.

This is a dangerous and deliberate attempt to intimidate and bully the judiciary into submission.

We however all know that the Lagos State Judiciary is an institution of integrity that will not succumb to blackmail, coercion, or orchestrated media attacks. Such tactics have never succeeded in the past and will not succeed now.

The narrative being peddled about influence, inducement, or fictitious patronage is as laughable as it is baseless.

The suggestion that Hammed Tajudeen Akanbi could procure influence through extravagant gifts is not only false but betrays the desperation of its authors.

Those making such allegations are themselves deeply entrenched in the very system of influence they now hypocritically decry.

As for the spurious criminal allegations being circulated in a bid to malign emerging voices within the Ajiran community, we reiterate our unwavering confidence in the rule of law.

While the public awaits the advice of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions, we remain resolute, calm, and assured that truth and justice will ultimately prevail.

The younger generation of the Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran is now fully awakened to the decades of oppression, exploitation, and mismanagement of their common patrimony. No amount of propaganda, intimidation, or institutional manipulation can reverse this consciousness.

This rejoinder serves as a clear warning: the era of impunity is over. Those who have held Ajiran land and its people hostage will be held accountable lawfully, peacefully, and decisively.

Youth Wing,

Ojomu Royal Family of Ajiran

SlavaUkraini:
Senate President Godswill Akpabio has publicly thrown his weight behind the proposed creation of Anioma State.

DAILY POST reports that the proposed Anioma State is a long-standing initiative in the National Assembly, and it is being championed by the lawmaker representing Delta North Senatorial District, Ned Nwoko, with the aim of increasing the number of states in the South-East.

Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South Zonal Congress in Asaba on Wednesday, Akpabio said he has no problem with the proposed state creation.

The Senate President stated that the capital of Anioma would be in Asaba, the current capital of Delta State.

He further stated that the capital of Delta State would then be moved from Asaba to Warri.

According to Akpabio, the creation of Anioma State will bring development to the region, stressing that there is nothing to be afraid of.

He said, “If that is the only demand from the South-South for state creation, then I should be proud to support it.

“For Anioma State, the capital will be in Asaba; then the capital of Delta State proper will be in Warri. That’s not a problem.

I don’t think we should be afraid because the more states we have, the more development. Assuming it passes through the various Houses of Assembly, it means we are going to have one additional state.

“It is definitely going to be another broom and progressives from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria.”

Giftimoni:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jRh7F_2G8xw

Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has stated that he could effectively govern Nigeria from Kaduna if elected president, emphasizing accessibility, leadership commitment, and national unity.

Obi made the remark on Sunday during a meeting with stakeholders of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Kaduna, as part of his ongoing nationwide political consultations.

“Abuja to Kaduna is less than two hours; so nothing stops a president who’s in Abuja to drive down to Kaduna for a meeting and stay there for a day or two and go back to Abuja. In fact, I can actually serve Nigeria from Kaduna, without a single problem,” he said.

Obi Engages ADC Stakeholders in Kaduna

The former Labour Party flagbearer, who joined the ADC coalition in 2025, said his visit to Kaduna allowed him to interact with key political actors and assess the political climate in the state.

According to Obi, he met with party leaders including Dr. Ahmed Tijjani, a gubernatorial aspirant, and Senator Lawal Adamu, who represents Kaduna Central.

He noted that the engagement reinforced his belief in Nigeria’s potential for transformation through purposeful and people-oriented leadership.

“What I observed in them was not just political ambition but a sincere desire to serve the people and contribute to the rebuilding of our country,” Obi said.

Kaduna’s Strategic Importance to Nigeria

Obi described Kaduna as a historically significant state that once symbolized unity and economic strength in Nigeria.

He highlighted the state’s past as a hub for industry, agriculture, and commerce, noting that it still holds strong potential for national development.

“Kaduna remains a very strategic state in Nigeria. It was once a symbol of our unity and coexistence… and it still holds that potential,” he stated.

Call for Unity and National Rebuilding

The former Anambra State governor stressed the need to rebuild trust and foster unity among Nigerians, warning that division remains a major barrier to progress.

“A divided society cannot progress, but a united, just, and inclusive one will always find a path to peace and development,” he said.

Political Consultations Extend to Kano

As part of his broader consultations, Obi also visited Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso in Kano, where he met with members of the Kwankwasiyya movement to further strengthen political alliances ahead of future elections.

The major problem we have is the regulatory authorities, who are shying away from their responsibilities.
