Some tragedy happened about two weeks ago, I lost about 3 mature turkey.

I searched all the neighborhood couldn't find them, I feel the pain coz I knew someone somewhere packed the 3turkey (Jennifer plus her junior brother and my Giant male turkey 🦃).

I was surprised when I saw the my male turkey and Jennifer walk back home, I couldn't find the younger turkey of about 9month old till date.
What a pity
AgricultureRe: Step By Step Improve Way Of Cultivating TOMATOES by Kehfie(f): 11:37pm On Aug 26, 2024
dayveed1:
Please Is 500k enough to cultivate tomatoes on a 5 plots of land.?
I recently acquire the land and I have no immediate plans for it yet. I found someone is asking 200k to plant it for me. From clearing of the land till we harvest. And the rest of the funds will be for buying of seeds, fertilizers, bamboos and pesticides.
Location is Akure, Ondo state.

I know little to nothing about farming
Your advice is needed edekun.
What are the credentials of the person who wants to farm the tomatoes for you? Can they provide you verifiable evidence of their success as a tomato farmer? What is your plan for supplementary irrigation? If you plant tomatoes now you will end up competing with glut from the north in a few months time. Keep your money and learn gradually. Start with quarter plot for learning whatever crop you'd like to grow. My two kobo. Let the elders chip in their thoughts.

Hello everyone, please what could be causing this? This small vegetable I managed to plant, I don't know what is eating the leaf. What can I do or apply to prevent this? Awaiting your responses. Thank you 🙏
Since it is what you eat often, do not spray with insecticide/pesticide..come out at night to pick and kill the caterpillars that are eating the plants. Make sure to check under the leaves for them.

How far we have come in this journey!

Something remarkable happened today and i felt it's worth sharing. I was taking an afternoon stroll today and decided to cool off at a friend's outlet. She inquired about my farm and was more specific about my Ugu farm. Lol...I told her Ugu was over for me jare grin cool, facing the other aspects of my farm squarely. Moreover, me no fit ever buy 1 paint bucket of Ugu seeds for 30k oooo tongue. Just out of the blues, she asked what if she gave me a pod, would I plant? Walahitalai, I was stunned. Then was really made me so emotional was when she added, it was the Ugu's great-grand daughter of an Ugu plant I once gifted her, chai!!! It brought tears to my eyes.
I love this story....lessons for me: what goes around comes around. We need to be careful what we are 'sowing'

I have a three hectares plus in Lagos that is meant for construction next year. I need to put the land to agricultural use till I'm done with approval. I need advice on what crop I can plant within this August knowing that rainy season will soon come to an end. I will also want to know how and where I can access the seeds. Helpful comment please
There are several factors to consider.... your market first; budget for the project; availability of an experienced and reliable manager and farm workers and machinery and various equipment; availability of water. Have you sorted out all that? Also how long before you begin construction? If you sort out all those you can decide what to plant.
AgricultureRe: Farmers: How're You Coping With The Drought? by Kehfie(f): 7:31pm On Aug 10, 2024
Redman44:
Hmn. We should not exploit each other due to this period of rain not falling. Farmers should consider the suffering masses. Some crops like Sorghum, Millet and Cassava do not need too much inputs or fertilizers. And they also do well during droughts. So, why are they expensive in the markets? Why?

Just asking, how do arabian countries or foreign countries that have very scanty rain feed?

For learning purposes
They import most of their food and some use irrigation to grow vegetables and fruits

Finally maize cultivated with irrigation will yield way way better than rainfed maize.....

If u start with the question of how many acres will fill a truck load, u hace started opening urself 2 errors
Can it still be profitably grown with irrigation
AgricultureRe: Maize Hybrid Selection (share Your Experiences) by Kehfie(f): 4:00pm On Aug 02, 2024

Your question also bothers on yield

Averagely a bag measurement here swallows 350 cobs, but on rare occasions if cob are very big 280-300

D guys that do the tying say that if u really get giant cobs 200 sef and its filled up

One thing is that if you get giant cobs, the guys tying are motivated as it means more money 4 them cos no matter how the buyer wants to stuff more corn inside the bag, it will just be giving way

Once you get bumper harvest with big cobs, the practices of the buyers will favor you, if the bag is too heavy, it can even divide b4 getting to destination
