Truth be told, the National Party chairman is one big problem they have to sought out as soon as possible. During the primary elections, he chooses his own candidate n he doesn't care about the out come of the primaries. In edo state, akoko edo to be precise, after the outcome of the shady primaries didn't favour his candidate, he cancelled the election n reschedule another one. N funny enough, by 5pm, election materials n officers were yet to arrive akoko edo for the election. After everything, his candidate was declared winner but as God may have it, he was sacked by court ruling n the candidate of the current state governor who won the first cancelled primaries was returned elected. Oshio baba should know that APC is not a company owned by him, he's representing the interest of all party faithful. More apc positions will be forfeited to pdp in due time. |
Ghanaian artistes, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy have finally squashed their beef after they met for peace talks following their public brawl at this year’s Ghana Music Awards. The pair were pictured together on Thursday after resolving their issues during a meeting with an influential personality. Shatta Wale shared the photo on his social media handles, with the caption; “Unity is strength, Love is the key to many doors, Brotherhood is Loyalty, Peace is Freedom .. My brother and I got a great vision for Ghana music and we taking it to the world .. @stonebwoyb” Shatta Wale wrote. Stonebwoy also shared the same photo and wrote: “IF it be Possible As Far It Depends On You, Live Peaceably With All Men.. Romans 12:18 The Wise Shall Inherit Glory.. But Shame Shall Be The Promotion Of Fools.. Proverbs 3:35” The peace meeting comes after Shatta Wale and Stonebwoy were arrested by the police on the 19th of May after a brawl broke out at the 20th anniversary of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. The fight started when Shatta Wale and his team stormed the stage shortly after Stonebwoy was announced the winner of ‘Reggae/Dancehall Artiste of the Year.’ During the clash between the pair and their camps, Stonebwoy was filmed pulling out a gun on stage. The two artistes who were later released, appeared in court. Shatta Wale pleaded not guilty to Offensive Conduct to Breaches of the Peace following the scuffle at the Awards. While Stonebwoy pleaded not guilty to an additional charge of Display of a Weapon in a Public Place without permission. After the hearing, they were granted bail of ¢50,000 each with one surety and cautioned to be of good behaviour until the determination of the case. They will re-appear in court on June 20. Following the clash, the artistes were stripped of all the awards they won at the 20th edition of the Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) They were also banned indefinitely by the organisers, Charterhouse. |
The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi has granted Nigerian Musician Azeez Fashola bail. At the resumed bail application, his lead defense counsel Olalekan Ojo for the singer apologized for his absence at the initial arraignment on May 20 due to heavy down poor. Ojo urged the court to accept the bail application Prima Facie based on the presumption of his innocence in accordance with Section 162 (1) The defense also pleaded that a liberal approach is taken in hearing the bail application. The prosecution counsel, led by Rotimi Oyedepo, however, argued that it is not the temporary release of the singer that mattered but the final judgment. He, therefore, urged the court to grant accelerated hearing rather than bail. He added that since the lawyer of the defendant said the defendant is a celebrity, then his actions and inactions have a multiplier effect on youths in the entire federation. Justice Nicholas Oweibo who presided over the bail hearing after listening to the defense and prosecution arguments granted the singer bail to the sum of two million naira, two sureties. The trial has been adjourned to 22, 23 and 24 of October for accelerated hearing.

Prof Ben Ayade, the Governor of Cross River state, has declared that his deputy will run the state as Acting Governor throughout his second term. He said he will be at the sidelines playing the role of ‘Project Manager’ as he will relocate out of Calabar, the state capital. According to him, Cross River will become an industrialized state under his watch. Ayade stated this while delivering his inaugural address after he was sworn in on Wednesday for the second time as governor by the Chief Judge of the state, Justice Michael Edem at the U.J Esuene stadium. His words : “Be committed and steadfast Cross River state will be an industrialised state under my watch. In this my second tenure, I will no longer be the governor. My Deputy will be the acting governor while I will become the project manager of Cross River state as I will relocate to Ikom LGA. “This tenure will be food on the table ,hands on the plough, no amount of investment in infrastructure will be equivalent to taking care of the well being of the people ,paying salaries and employing them. “We must understand that anytime our problems can only be solved by money then our intellect has failed us,” Ayade stated. |

The EFCC had in 2016 filed a seven-count charge against Mr. Azibaola, his wife, Stella, and their company, saying that they received $40 million worth of illicit contract from Mr. Dasuki The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has discharged and acquitted former President Goodluck Jonathan’s cousin, Robert Azibaola, of $40 million laundering charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission. Nnamdi Dimgba, the judge In the judgment on Monday, said that no credible evidence was adduced to establish the offense of money laundering against Mr. Azibaola. He said: “That the prosecutor failed to provide witness from the Office of the National Security Adviser(ONSA). “That the EFCC and the prosecutor cried more than the bereaved. “That the prosecutor has not been able to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the 2-count charge against the defendant.” “The defendant is hereby discharged and acquainted and not guilty,” the judge ruled. The EFCC in 2016 filed a seven-count charge against Mr. Azibaola, his wife, Stella, and their company, saying that they received $40 million worth of illicit contract from Mr. Dasuki. Azibaola and his wife Stella, were arraigned on June 7, 2016, and were admitted to bail in the sum of N500 million each. On April 27, 2017, they were re-arraigned on a nine-count amended charge. In the cause of the trial, the prosecution called 10 witnesses and tendered 27 documented evidence against the three parties and closed its case. Subsequently, Mr. Azibaola and One Plus company were ordered to open their defense on the remaining two counts, as Stella’s name was struck off the charge sheet. He denied diverting money to his personal use. On February 6, 2019, his defense team led by Chris Uche, closed its defense after calling two witnesses, including Mr. Azibaola, and presenting several documents. |
The judge ruled that the primary election be canceled and that the APC did not have any candidate in the election. A Federal High Court in Owerri, has declared candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winner in an intra-party suit filed by the All Progressives Congress (APC). Harrison Nwadike of APC had approached the court to invalidate the candidacy of Ugonna Ozurigbo for Nwangele/Njaba/Isu/Nkwerre Federal Constituency of Imo state, on the basis that the primary election conducted was not the one approved by the law. However, the judge ruled against the two candidates of APC and declared Kingsley Echendu of the PDP as the rightful winner. He said that Ozurigbo was automatically selected contending, “automatic ticket is unknown to law.” Joined in the suit are APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission. Delivering the judgment, Justice Tijanni Ringim, accepted the plea of Nwadike and ruled that the mode of selection of the party was not done with due process and with the proper backing of the law. The judge ruled that the primary election be canceled and that the APC did not have any candidate in the election. Justice Ringim also ruled that the runner-up in the election be declared as the winner and the commission should recognize him as the winner of the election. The trial judge also ruled that APC should refund N3million to Nwadike as his nomination fees and that APC and Ozurigbo should pay Nwadike another N10million while INEC should pay N500,000 cost. Speaking after the ruling, Nwadike avowed to challenge the ruling of the court declaring Echendu as the winner even though the candidacy of Ozurigbo was voided. He maintained, “it was wrong for the court to have declared the PDP candidate the lawful winner of the general election.” |

Of course I wasn't expecting a contrary Statement from INEC, I hope these APC people won't make the state ungovernable. Again, this may not be easy for the new governor elect and his subordinates because it's not the choice of the people. I wish them luck. I am 069 |
The court order states that apc didn't produced any candidates for the election(via primaries,). So, how then will you say that the votes for a party that wasn't supposed to field candidates for the election, Is now termed valid? It's as good as saying apc wasn't recognised as a political party at the poll, so the total vote counts will be the total number of votes, excluding Apc's vote. |
