kissofdragon: @billionaire did you got ur visa with the TAFE admission? Because I noticed you have been mentioning Edith Cowan Uni a couple of times. I also have a TAFE admission but I have deferred it so that I can come down to south Aussie by February 2014. So pls was it ur TAFE that u used or it is Edith Cowan Uni admission that hot u d visa. @Ferdimako, submit the result like that and also submit your WAEC result with it, to the embassy, as it contains English language in it. It should augment with the IELTS result. Don't be distraught jor. I remember when I wanted to write my exam, 1 week to the day, I never touch both the reading and writing section for practise. The exam is easy but one can easily miss the answers.
@iamcapela, let your presence be felt here a little. Your contribution is needed, as some may need info on accomodation, and Jenny has been the only one filling the gap. If you are here, you can render your assistance in that capacity.
On the points you raised, you said well. I would advice someone who has PR in mind (of course everybody does) is that look for a 2yrs program to do. When you get that, you will easily file for the PR, and TAFE adv. diploma fills the gap well, unlike Masters which lasts for 1.5yrs, though you can get sponsored quickly if your major is a skilled-select major.
An advantage of the TAFE pathway I can boldly see is that after your program of 2yrs, you apply for PR and once successful, you can use your Nigerian BSc cert. to apply for MSc and it will come at a low cost, and you can opt for part-time too because you won't be an international student.
My take is that anyone that wants to go to Aussie should strap onto financial backings he/she can get for at least a year. It won't be easy studying and working at the same time (though not impossible) so as not to affect grades and performance; and high hopes shouldn't be developed at all. It must be slow-and-steady.

Guy accept ur Tafe admission, na Chisholm Tafe I dey, collect ur 2yrs visa n enter first then u can leave mater for mathias. 1 year MSC program won't give u a graduate visa if u dey come Melbourne o, Melbourne nor be regional area just so u know. I av applied to various universities but the one dat gave me offer for msc is just a year program! But wen I applied to tafe for advanced diploma I av bin given admission and its 2yrs. I would want to stay bck to work after studies.Redhrt and others told me to go for the 2yr Tafe advanced diploma so after studies I can get my PR and can later do Msc

mcdon60: it depends on the university and the course you are applying for, check with the uni for their MSC requirements because it varies from uni to uni and from state to state. And just like Redreact said, why not get your PR first after your advance diploma and later apply for MSC if you wish to study further as you pay less. Some don't after their PR because that is all they wanted, they will just do a short proffessional course to boost their employability. That all.

Yes and yes. I would suggest that you chill a little though; get your residency settled aftwr your advanced diploma program and then go fo MSc, as it will be at a cheaper price 'cos you won't be considered as an international student again.

It's about your interest. I think visa for the MSc duration will go for 2 years, and before the expiry, you can file in for one class of bridge visa like that (I read something that this morning though); but since it is for this PR, go for the TAFE. You can get your MSc done after you have become a resident

Plz after completion of advanced diploma is it possible to do Masters programme immediately. I mean someone with Advanced diploma is he/she eligible for Masters programme?

Gud A.M my fellow pals here, I av been given admission to study a 2yrs advanced diploma in computer engineering in a tafe institute. And I av also been given admission into a university for 1.5yrs msc program. I will like to stay back to work after studies and also get PR. Plz house advice me on which one I shuld go for inorder for me to stay bck after studies.

jennykadry: First off congratulations on your admission.

Your only option is to have a company willing to sponsor you for your permanent residence or continue studying for another one year to make it up to 2 years. Else you might have to return back to Nigeria after studies. To be quite honest, lots of people are already in he IT business, some are changing to mining cos IT sector is full.


Let me say this to everyone, YOU DON'T STAND A CHANCE AT PR WITH JUST ONE YEAR STUDY. YOU STAND A CHANCE AT SPONSORSHIP IF THEY CANNOT GET SOMEONE WITH A PERMIT TO FILL THE POSITION. THAT'S WHY FOR EXAMPLE THEY WON'T LET NURSES GO BACK, COS THEY (AUSTRALIA) DO NOT HAVE ENOUGH AUSTRALIAN NURSES TO FILL THE THOUSANDS OF POSITIONS VACANT.

THAT'S WHY I SAID, THOUGH SOME OCCUPATIONS ARE ON THAT LIST, SOME TAKE TOP PRIORITIES. THOSE THAT TAKE TOP PRIORITIES ARE THOSE THEY CANNOT GET WORKERS FROM WITHIN.


SAY FOR EXAMPLE I AM A SPECIALIST DOCTOR WITH 9 YEARS EXPERIENCE AND APPLYING FOR A JOB, AND ON THE OTHER SIDE IS ANOTHER SPECIALIST DOCTOR WITH 16 YEARS EXPERIENCE APPLYING FOR THAT SAME JOB. EVEN THOUGH HE IS WHAT THEY WANT WITH HIS MANY YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE, THEY WILL CHOOSE ME, THE CITIZEN WHO THEY DO NOT HAVE TO STRESS ABOUT FINDING THE REQUIRED VISA FOR.

Hello house! After rejection of application from 3schools in Aussie I av now been given admission into my 4th school choice. The course I applied for is Master in Information Technology and it is one year duration. Plz can I stay back to work after my Msc in aussie or how do I stay back to work after my Msc....I av also been given admission into Uk for Msc! But Uk rules are not friendly for international students dats why I prefer heading to Aussie! ojoolajire: I applied to the Uni of Sachechewan, Uni Of New brunswick, Uni of Alberta, Uni Manitoba, Uni of Toronto , all in Canada and alll rejected my application. But am still waiting for response from Uni of Windsor though.
In New Zealand, I applied to Uni of canterbury and Uni of Aukland, still waiting for the responses thou. But it seems the Canterbury is working out, because have been recommended for admission by department,it only remains approval by post graduate college.
Deakin uni in Australia is offering me admision on the bases of me doing 3 motnhs english course because my toefl score is 86 and they require 92, or I should write toefl again , but I don't care about them because have gotten a better one.
All in all, I have gotten an offer from CDU in Australia, so I think I may stick with them. My main concern is just the easy of getting PR, that's why I chose CDU being located in regional area and I think PR shld ve easy by staying there. Any advice please

ojoolajire: I applied to Uni of ballarat, deaken Uni, and CDU. Deakin refered me to one agent in Nigeria , but still waiting for there response . I am suppose to resume by July , d school sent some stramline visa processing to make the visa application faster. All schools in Australia require test score . Check their web site to know their minimum score . They will only offer you conditional offer without test score . I applied to some schools in New Zealnad byt have gotten responses from the schools . I am still contemplating on whether to pay or not because my priority has always been Canada, but their schools admission is pretty difficult, I just got another rejection today from University of Toronto , but I still have one left. So I may wait for that one before I Go ahead with payment for CDU

RedReact: Yes, Australian system works differently from ours unlike the UK system, which we practice here. Due to your additional preference, I don't think UK can offer you that, bearing in mind their not-smiling policy for international students. I will advice you to try other schools, not the high-ranking ones though. In my case, the one I applied to told me the same thing and never even gave options of augmenting it with a B.Sc like yours before I got offered an MSc by another institution. I won't really advice that you go for BSc again, unless you ha the money to spend. Just try another school.

Hello my fellow house members, I applied to Edith Cowan Uni for Msc but dey said my Bachelor degree is equivalent to australian associate degree so instead of d Msc d school gave me Bsc in the course and told I they wil exempt some courses for me. Also I'm given an offer @ Uni of Derby in Uk for Msc!!!! Plz house which one do u fink I should go for between anoda Bsc in Australia or Msc in Uk....In addition I want to stay back to work after my studies in the country! Plz house which should I go for!!!! Ur comments are highly needed by me

Hello nairalanders, plz is there any school in canada dat require submition of application and supporting documents online. Becauz most skul I av seen require u sending supportin documents like reference letter, transcript etc via post or courier to the school postal address
