femijck: Well Nz is such a beautiful and nice place...(Kiwis are one of the most friendly in d world)....with just about 4 million people making the whole country and about 8million sheep..........so funny........their immigration law is simple,strict and straight..........and it's much easier to get their PR compare to Aussie.........checkout their long term and short term visa or if u have anyone there, u can lookup the partnership visa on..............www.immigration.gov.nz.
If u really wanna go to Nz, we can hookup as i might also be moving to Auckland or christchurch maybe early next year.......pls Nigerians in NZ we need u here.....

I don't think those who have NZ residency can go to Australia like that, but there is an easy pathway for NZ citizens. Before you can think of taking a move to Australia, you have to be a NZ citizen. NZ is good though, but why not patiently and diligently pursue Australia?

ferdimako: DIAC doesn't accept TOEFL for PR.It's only IELTS or OET.But you can use IELTS GT or Academic and TOEFL for student visa application.

@ferdimako tanks for info. While Doing my Msc 2yrs program in information communication technology (advanced) I will take the ielts GT, wat score must I av in ielts to b eligible for PR. posdream: I stand to be corrected pls,to the best of my knowlege,I think u can use TOEFL its one of d english proficiency test. I think IELTS is just preferable for australia,uk,ireland etc. TOEFL is mainly for the USA n canada I guess. But none of these discriminates against each other. They only prefer theirs. So u tend to hear IELTS more often here cos its for aus. Try n google wollongong for its population,if its less than 40k then its regional. I hope I m able to answer little.

First, my apologies for the seemingly long silence since I announced my arrival here in Oz with my family, about 3 months ago as a PR. My utmost apology goes to Ferdimako who I couldn't help with advising wrt GSM PR route. I must confess I was overwhelmed with the challenges of settling in.

@Ferdimako: I'd see you're taking the studying route now. Good. I'm surprised at your IELTS scores knowing your capabilities. Nonetheless, I'm glad you quickly shrugged that disappointment off by opting for TOEFL. That attitude will take you to places bro. Let me know how I may still be of help.

@Intending Migrants/Students:

My two cents please:

1. Whatever you have to do in realising your dreams to migrate here, please do it quick. Immigration laws/policies are changing fast worldwide. Hitherto migration hotspot destinations like the UK and Canada have shut their borders. And countries like Australia are following suite. It's either going to be cut-throat expensive or almost impossible to migrate pretty soon. July 1st is here again. Hence, no more pussy-footing, procrastination or waiting for the perfect conditions. There ain't such thing like that. Tick says the clock, tick tick. What you have to do, do quick.

2. Information is vital to your plans as you depart from your destinations and more importantly as you arrive here. I can't overemphasise that. Know what you are getting into. Don't migrate on half-baked plans "faithing and claiming" all will be well. It may be disastrous. Whilst God is the All-knowing, make your plans water-tight. It's good a lot of information is being shared in the house. Kudos to the likes of Jenny. Don't take any piece of info for granted. It may be your saving grace. Ask questions. Don't assume. And when in doubt, ask more questions.

RedReact: Sure, you should; but as for the sponsorship thing, I am not sure, except teachers are in high demand like nurses or mining engineers. What's duration of the program?
@kelly, for the PR, they use your test of English result to score you alongside other things. I quite agree that they favour IELTS more than TOEFL, but I doubt they won't accept it. When you get there and after your studies, you won't write English exam again, abi shey na French dem go use teach for 2yrs? You use the one that got you admission and visa.

dnt u get wat Jenny is saying that after studies to apply for PR the person gats write another english text bcauz d one which u used for the application of skul would av expired since english txt is just valid for 2yrs.

jennykadry: Hmm tough one. I know people here write the general test not academic for PR. You have to get a graduate visa first after studies (b4 PR) and they require "suitable English test", non specified. To be quite honest, you might be able o apply with your TOEFL if its still valid.

hmmm! Lot of protocols! Toefl last for just 2yrs! I wrote my toefl ibt Jan 2013, which mean to apply for PR after graduate visa I need to write anoda english text!
