Mine is acid reflux, and gas/bloating. So I now avoid foods and fruits that would cause bloating. The symptoms you mentioned - excessive burping and flank pains are all symptoms I experience too.

Bilateral flank pains could be a lot of things, including bloating... Just make sure you rule out things like kidney issues and UTIs. Like I mentioned earlier, pay attention to what you eat, especially what causes discomfort after you eat them. For me I now know to avoid boiled eggs, milk, garden egg, cucumber etc.

Also, try not to eat close to bedtime. These days I always aim for 6pm for dinner.

Modified: And I totally forgot my biggest triggers... Stress and Anxiety! Do everything possible to avoid these.

Because I don't have stomach ulcer. After almost 2 decades of thinking I had ulcer, and treating ulcer, I just discovered last month I don't have a single ulcer in my stomach after I did a gastroscopy.

My advice to you, and to every other person treating ulcer or have been told they have ulcer, is to first do a gastroscopy so you'll know what you're dealing with.

Am I better now? Yes. Over the last couple of months I started paying attention to the things/foods/fruits that cause discomfort in my stomach and started avoiding them.

Greetings all. Please I soaked mine on Monday and I want to start taking it tomorrow, am I supposed to sieve the water out and drink just the water alone or I should take everything, that is with the plantain?

Please I need help cos i don't know if it's ulcer anymore, I've not lived a normal life for the past three months and it's eating me up........ From one symptom to another...... Initially it was blurred vision and very cold feet until I was admitted and diagnosed of ulcer, typhoid and malaria,was treated at the general hospital and also given medications. This was around April and I swear that was the last time i felt anything close to normal three days later I started feeling this very hot sensation from my waist down to my feet, it gets so hot internally and you won't feel it when you touch me, that was when I started this plantain and water remedy but it didn't do Jack, went back to the hospital last week and the doctor said same thing. I've been on omiprazol, clarithromicibe and amozile for almost two weeks no and no much improvement....... My life is so miserable right now and sadly depression is setting in........ Don't know y they can't find the actual cause of my predicament......please I need help or advice because I'm actually frustrated to the edge.....right now it seems like my heart is so heavy and there's this vibration that goes all over my body that makes my hands and legs shake uncontrollably

I have done that today.
The Gastroentrologist appears lost to me.
He did an ultrasound of my stomach told me he found nothing and everything looks good.
Did not prescribe any medication either.

I am so exhausted and confused.

Please helpppppppp, pls🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏. Mine bck pain started after hospital over doze me with antibiotics.. Later they said is infection.. It's almost 8months now.. Thank God all my result is out now, infection cleared.. But the lower back pain, left side beside stomach under rib pain too, pressure in stomach and back, without stomach noise. My back xray today show i have Loss of Lumbar lordosis due reflex muscle spasm.

I only picked intermittent fasting from this advice. what worked for me is lifestyle change. Stopped eating some meals, have a specific eating time and every Wednesday I fast 6am to 6pm. I have relaxed on the meals I stopped eating for years. Like I stopped eating akara or drinking soda and beer etc just recently I started eating some of this foods and drinking soda and I don't think I still have stomach ulcer.

bro u obviously hit the point... i also thought high stomach acid was the culprit... but after not experiencing any relief with low acid diet, i did further online research and i discovered that low stomach acid which gave rise to bacteria overgrowth also known as SIBO was the root cause of my symptoms. so i switch to high acidic food, eliminate veg and fruits,processed food, sugar and red meat bcus dey sit long in the stomach and feeds d bacteria(and d bacteria produces gas which causes symtoms) and i started taking vitamin C (white) to aid stomach acid production, this has reduced virtually all my symptoms.

Ok.. So you should not be taking your acid suppressants along with natural remedies pls. And always give your body time to respond to a treatment before jumping on others. I wish i could explain the science behind acid suppressants and your diet. Its a lot of things to be mindful of.

What are you eating and how often are you eating? Start keeping food diary to know what triggers your pain the most.
How late before bed do you eat your last meal? Should be at least 3 hrs b4 you sleep.
Do you add excessive garlic and onions to your meals? If so, pls eliminate.
Asides from esomeprazole, what other meds do you take?

Fyi, esomeprazole 40 mg is ok but it should be taken at least an hr before the first meal of the day for it to be effective. However, esomeprazole can cause palpitations, nervousness, tinnitus and weird side effects. With acid suppressants its a trial and error till you find what works. Most docs will prescribe acid suppressants for 2 to 4 weeks at a go if you are having a bad flare.

Gastritis is inflammation of the stomach. Eliminate foods that can possibly cause any kind of stress of inflammation for you while you heal. Take Buscopan for light discomfort during the day. Avoid stress. If you are overweight, try to lose some weight. And pls give your body enough time to heal.

Cabbage juice may cause diarrhea or worsen your gastritis if you have IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). I'm hardly on nairaland these days but you can dm me on my Instagram handle. @glutenfreeafrican.

The first time I started feeling pains in my upper stomach, just below my breastbones was in 2005. Each time I ate the pain would come and I was only wondering what was wrong with me. By 2009 chest palpitation set in. Everyday I thought I was going to die of heart failure. Then I went to hospital and after explaining to the doctor he told me to take life easy, eat well, worry less, you are a young man, buy that tablet, eat it and relax.

Things continued till 2015 when I fainted one midnight. By morning Icould not breathe anymore except through my mouth. If you place a cup of water on my stomach or my back you could drink hot tea in 15 minutes. Waist pain, headache, constant ringing in the right ear and dizzyness were all part of the problem.

Then I visited nearly all the general hospitals on Lagos mainland including Luth and St. Nicholas. Today's doctors are simply not good enough. Not even one of them has suggested endoscopy, barium meal or anything, yet I have spent nearly N650,000 on repeated heart screening from hospital to hospital and have spent and additional N600,000 on various drugs since 2012.

The problem is not over yet, but I cannot say I have gained anything from meeting a doctor, and I have net not less than 40 especially at the govt hospitals. The little help I have received is a product of my painstaking online research about ulcer and my health generally which I started in 2015.

I am convinced that Chronic ulcer and GERD can only be helped if the patient dutifully take to health suppliments and vitamins while maintaining a vigorous lifestyle that abhors ulcer triggers, and there is a long list of them if you check online. What you eat everyday is key to determining whether you will heal your ulcer/GERD.

A certain brand of different suppliments is what I chose, plus digestive pills I buy and am always on the lookout for. A bit costly, maybe thats why I am not regular on it.
