Very sorry if i sounded a little bit upset accept my apology . You see GOD is the author of everything , we only try our best to distribute the little knowledge we have at no extra cost for everyone to benefit .When i guide new farmers i always guide them on new mordern and cheap practices, those that contact me via whatsapp can testify to great increase on there farms output, , you see , many farmers makes a lot of mistakes, though they realise profit but ,my write up is to give them tips to increase there profits , i give my consultancy for free even on my whats app . But there are a lot of factors we just joke about in the business , things we just say it dosent really matter ; but my brother it matters greatly. let me put some things to you . DO YOU KNOW ONLY TEMPERATURE CHANGE CAN AFFECT YOUR FCR .. what are the best temperature to attain best fcr ? What ph is best ? what time of feeding is best ? what best water qualit? what best suplimentary feed ? what local cheap feed with higher crude protein ? what best environmental requirements . like shading your fish , do u know catfish grows faster when confined in a dark environment ? How do u determin your fingerlings are got from broods weighing 2kg and above ? . i can name a lot more ... thats why sometimes visiting a high capacity farm can help explain these things better , but am not here to scare people; but i want you to know even at your backyard you can have high capacity . Its just talking to the right consultant to put u through , less i forget do u know , polyculture of catfish and tilapia is no longer in vogue , it has just been determine that african catfish are not good predators and tend to burn there energy needed to convert feed to flesh in runing after tilapia fries in a polyculture system . these are latest discovries . There are better and best ways u can feed your tillapia fries or fingerlings to your catfish without additional cost , and this can save your feed tremendously because with this new and simple process , you can skip a day feed of the more costly pellet feed in that you feed tilapia fries today at no cost and you feed your foreign feed the next day . Calculate how much your profit will increase , when u have to cut your total feed fed by half. In the fish world there are latest and cheap modification for profit maximization .. we can not complete all in just one write up . its wider than that. THANK YOU

@soft777. thank you very much for ur reports and time. but honestly i think if we can achieve feeding a fish to 1kg with N130 as u have said, then we will be smiling to the bank always. please kindly share the formula for the feed u use so we can learn. at least the popular feed formula given by ablx is not in any way cheap. we need this...regards

The setback with Koudjis line concentrates is that they are too expensive. The one I commonly use b4, which u add only maize now cost N12,200(50Kg) in my locality.

All the birds didn't die at once, we called in different vets, their conclusion was where we got the feed from, in good fath a friend offered to help cut my cost on feed my compounding feed for me. He has a mill in his farm where mill for his layers. The proximity of his mill to the layers pen is very close, so buying those feed and taking them to my farm was like introducing the bacteria from his farm to my, while his birds are muted to those bio security, my farm and birds weren't , so, everyday, we were recording high number of mutuality, and trying to treat the birds with different kind of drugs, and their suffering from the attack, stalled their growth, so, a 12 weeks bird was weighing 700g so we have to destroy over 1000 birds ourself, because at that point, the cost of raising the birds were already above N1,500/bird. So, it didn't make sense to continue trying to feed them or treat them. So, I have learned from that experience, I was trying to save money and didn't think through the descsion. But everything was done with good intention, my friend wanted to help me. So, don't buy feed from a farm where the mill is right next to the pen of their own birds, you will be bridging the bio security in your farm with the virus and bacteria from the other farm.

For those of us picking birds(broilers) from zartech farms, i think what we should watch out for is CRD. And the only way you can do tackle this CRD issue , is adhere to their Medication program.
I happen to have one of their program ...This program was given to me by Ziad (He was incharge of the benin Branch) But i think he has been replaced.

Day 1-5 ......Tylosin +vitamin+Enrofloxacin
Day 7-11.....Furaltadone(Dose- 1gram to 5liter)
Day 21-23...Tylosin +Vitamin+Enrofloxacin or Ciprofoxacin
And please no feed for the broilers for the first 3 hours, only water and drugs.

I have been using this program alongside the program my vet gave to me, that one has the vaccination schedule on it and CRD has been a thing of the past in my broilers.
And for those guys who pick birds from other hacteries, i think u can still use dis as a guide. Sometimes when i pick birds from other hacteries, what i do is very simple.....I use my normal program, but at day 6 to 9 i use tylosin and enrofloxacin for them, them after 2weeks i repeat same treatment again....And CRD will never come back, as long as you dont overcrowd them or dent them proper ventilation....

sukkotfarm. I'm yet to do black layers in a significant number. However, I have twice had them amidst my Isa Brown flocks. The first were 15 in number. The second; 40 pieces. What I noticed were that the black birds had greater resistance to diseases than their brown counterparts. However, it took them longer to attain their peak production. In the meantime, how much is Zartech DOC now? Success.

i dont know how to measure the crude protein and metabolize energy of the feed but i got the the formula from the hatchery that i bought the chicks from and pertaining to the feed, i will increase it to the amount you suggested.

Price of juveniles will range frm N20 - N30 depending on who is selling to you and location. Most times you get it for N25 per one.
For feeding: budget N230 per fish till table size.
Wooden frame tarpaulin pond of 22ft×8ft×3.5ft will take ur 1000 adult fishes (dats d size i use).
You will need a second pond of say 12 ×6×3.5 to sort. With this two ponds, ur fishes will av excess space and will grow really well.
Depending on the type of wood you use for ur wooden pond it will cost u between 60K - 100K (for the big sized pond) for a completed ready to stock tarpaulin pond.
Before you start consider your water source and drainage. Very important.
