The Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu has been reported dead after a prolonged battle with Leukaemia.

Leukaemia is a cancer of the tissues which usually forms a type of blood cells called White Blood Cells (Leukocytes).

The Supreme Court has affirmed the victory of Peter Mbah in the 2023 Governorship election of Enugu State.

The apex court resolved all the issues in favour of the governor and upheld the judgment of the Appeal Court that upheld his March 18, 2023 election.

A 5-man panel of justices led by Justice Mohammed Garba held that the Labour Party and his candidate failed to prove allegations of non-compliance with the electoral laws during the election.

Former Big Brother Naija winner, Josephine Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has been invited by the police over her alleged failure to return a rented wig to a hair vendor.

Recall that a hair vendor recently accused Phyna of renting a wig from her and refusing to return it after the agreed-upon date.

Phyna initially denied the allegations, but later said that she returned the wig after she was called out but the hair vendor rejected it.

The Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria, CBCN, has assured the catholic community that the recent pronouncement of the Pope on same-sex marriage does not in any way change the Catholic Church’s teaching on marriage.

This comes days after Pope Francis formally approved allowing priests to bless same-sex couples, but reaffirmed that marriage is between a man and a woman.

Nollywood Comic actor, John Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu has undergone another surgery weeks after one of his legs was amputated.

Sources revealed to Vanguard that he has undergone another surgery, cutting off part of the same leg that was initially amputated last month. His health is said to have degenerated to the point that he hardly talks again.

The Supreme Court, on Friday, December 15, nullified the judgment of the Court of Appeal that ordered the Federal Government to release the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, from detention.

The apex court upheld the appeal by the federal government, challenging the Court of Appeal decision, which ordered Kanu’s release.

A Brazilian gospel singer, Pedro Henrique, died after he collapsed on stage during a performance.

The 30-year-old unexpectedly collapsed in front of his band in a concert hall in the northeastern city of Feira de Santana on Thursday.

In the video clip, before he lost his balance and fell onto his back, Henrique was seen interacting with the audience on camera throughout the event.

Rhoda Jatau, a Bauchi woman who was imprisoned after condemning the killing of a Christian student, Samuel Deborah in Sokoto State, has finally regained her freedom.

Recall that Samuel Deborah was killed and her body ablaze in Sokoto State University over allegations of blasphemy against the Islamic religion in 2022.

Jatau was released following an intervention from civil society organisations, family members and religious bodies.

It was gathered that her bail application brought by her lawyer, Joseph Danboyi, was heard and granted by Justice Fatima Jibrin of a high court in Bauchi. As soon as she was released, Rhoda left Bauchi for Gombe State.

The herbs seller, Eniola Fagbemi has cancelled her attempt to set a new Guinness World Records by cooking herbs (agbo) for 300 hours due to her daughter’s sudden ill health.

Recall that on November 26 the Oyo native declared to the world that she planned to try her hand at the marathon in Ibadan on December 1.

Eniola said that being a mother has limited her in a recent Facebook post on Monday, December 4. She also mentioned that she is now nursing her child.

Mohammed Idris, minister of information and national orientation, says only 422 people out of the record 1,411-member delegation from Nigeria were sponsored by the federal government to attend the ongoing climate change conference in Dubai. United Arab Emirates (UAE).


Nigeria leads Africa’s largest delegation to the conference also known as Conference of Parties (COP28).

The long list of delegates from Nigeria has sparked criticisms from citizens, with many calling it a jamboree to the Middle Eastern country.

In a statement on Monday, Idris said some of the people were sponsored by state governments and private entities.

It is imperative to point out that the overall Nigerian delegation to COP-28 comprises Government-sponsored (Federal and State Governments) and non-government-sponsored participants (from Private Companies, NGOs, CSOs, Media, academia, etc),” Idris said.
