TravelRe: USA Visit Visa Part 2 by kenkelewu: 9:57pm On Jul 04, 2016
Nazysandy:
Good evening house.

I am new here. My interview date is early August. Going for a wedding and then use the opportunity to see hubby. He is based in the US. Already, I have applied for an immigrant visa, but just going to visit and come back while waiting for the immigrant visa.
Btw, hubby is one of the groomsmen and the person wedding is our mutual friend. The wedding iv already stated that accommodation is taken care of excluding the flight. Hubby is paying for my flight ticket.

Please I am open to any advice, contributions or whatsoever. Thank you and keep on doing the good work.
I suggest that you volunteer that information before you are asked and explain in the detail the purpose of this visit. Let the VO know that you understand the implications of violating the terms of your B1/B2 if granted and that you would not want o jeopardize the chances of getting your IV to relocate and join your spouse legally. Having an IV petition does not stop you from getting an NIV, you just have to be able to convince the VO that you have enough ties to make you come back and continue with what you are currently processing.
Good luck

Me...indianapolis to visit my elder sister on an important issue

VO...what do you do
Me...an electrical engineer at -----company as -------manager

VO...how much do you earn
Me .... #....

Vo...are you married
Me...of course am happily married with a kid

Vo....have you ever travelled out of the country
Me ... No

Vo... Mr X am sorry you re not good to go now

He hands me the blue paper
It was so sadden though but it was a great experience
I think you should work on your purpose of visit to the US. The world has become such a small place with many avenues for communication, that if you need (to see or speak with) your sister on an important issue she should be a phone call away, WhatsApp call/msg or via Skype. You must be articulate and convincing that you have a genuine reason for travel. If it's for vacation, then you must be able to outline your travel plans and interest, if for business or training, you must be articulate and professional. Honestly I think our naija style of "visiting for uncle's wedding anniversary" and the likes, sound very flimsy... My 2 kobo opinion

@gusfy823

No, I didn't experience this, mine was in 2013 though. From the websites (Washington DC, NY and Atlanta), this seems peculiar to only Atlanta. Are you applying for a Visa or Passport?
As I suggested, people should use Washington/NY if they have an option

DIY Expedited Naija Visa II:
Money order instructions:
According to the website:
1. Note down the "Serial Number" (as shown by red circle in the sample image ) and provide that to us with other requested information after you hit the proceed button below. We’ll send you a confirmation email stating that your order number & tracking number is associated with a money order serial number. This email doesn’t mean that your application is paid yet.
Mail the filled in Money Order via a traceable courier service (such as Fedex, UPS and DHL): Address is provided on the page at this stage

2. Once we receive your money order, we’ll confirm the receipt via another email to you stating that your payment has been received and you can proceed to submit your Visa/Passport application"

Now, Mail your application: forms, you and your hubby's Naija passport data page, letter of consent, copy of flight itinerary or ticket as the case may be, money orders (for the expedited fee and additional separate $30 money order), then prepaid self-addressed express delivery envelope
Note:
I applied for my baby's on a Tues and got it back on Fri.
Avoid the embassies where these agents work, cos your application will be under the pile.
From reviews, use Washington DC and NY
Times are hard, let's not waste money on what we can do ourselves.
Note that weekends and holidays will increase processing times, even if you expedite the processing

Just to correct some impressions here about needing an agent to do your baby's naija visa if you are in a hurry. Back then in 2013, before the loss of info and data in NL, people on this thread were not using agents. Follow the instructions as outlined, it's not difficult to do.
1. Start your application online at the NIS website: https://portal (dot)immigration(dot)gov(dot)ng/visa/freshVisa
- register your account
-enter your address, phone no
-complete the application form with the baby's details
-Print ur application- copy reference no and App ID
-Proceed to check out
-Proceed to payment
-Select money order
I attached the instructions for using money order but spambot got me yesterday. Lol
2. Buy USPS money order and send the money order no to Innovate by email; you can also call them
3. You will receive an acknowledgement and then you can use the money order no to complete your application.

VisaOfficer:
Here's a typical online description of a Yoruba traditional wedding, from http://www.yorubabridalengagement.com/ :
The Engagement Ceremony
The Yoruba engagement ceremony is actually the “traditional wedding.” This is when the couple is united together as husband and wife and the groom’s family pays the dowry or “bridal price.” As with any other wedding, the occasion is graced with lots of fun, singing, dancing, laughing, blessing the couple, and praying.
And for Hausa couples, from http://www.allthingsnigeria.com/2012/hausa-traditional-marriage :
It is part of the Hausa tradition for the groom to provide a house for the couple while furnishing the house is the full responsibility of the bride’s family. The wedding date is called Fatihah. It is the day of Solemnization of the two families and payment of the dowry referred to as sadaki.
Everything I'm finding continues to support the idea that a couple is considered married once

This is correct. The Yoruba engagement is actually a traditional marriage. However (sometimes depends on the family), you cannot formally refer to someone as your fiance/fiancee until you have had a formal introduction ceremony. It is at this ceremony that both families decide on when to have a traditional marriage, which may be several months after the introduction .The traditional marriage (engagement, where the dowry/bride price is offered) is usually followed (or same day in some cases) by a religious wedding ceremony, which is a big deal in most Yoruba families.

nikkygal: @Kenkelewu....Could you please give more details on your 'houston experience' at the POE? This will go a long way in helping undecided peeps in making a decision. As the Nos.1 entry point for peeps going to Elpaso is Houston....and it is noted for having cheaper hospitals compared to other cities.

Harjeehbaday: Good morning and Happy weekend.

More suggestions will be appreciated
I think Babababy said it all. U cant be turned back for wilful misrepresentation of a material fact, or fraudulently obtaining visa. However, it's better to be truthful if you are asked about your intention, so you don't deprive yourself of further renewals. In addition, I don't think you should disguise and at the same tme, dont flaunt your pregnancy. Do your homework and be prepared to prove you can pay your bills: enough cash and debit/credit card and also that you won't overstay your visa. The most important question is : "what is the purpose of your trip?". Your response will make or mar your intention. If your husband is going with you, the better for you cos it creates some kind of shield.
In my humble opinion and based on personal experience, avoid HOUSTON at all costs.
All the best

nadee: Hello all,
Please does anyone have info on any doctor in the usa who is able to carry out a VBAC? This is for women who have given birth via C-Section before and want to try natural birth for subsequent deliveries.

The doctors i've contacted so far are not willing to take on such cases but only offer a repeat CS.

Pls any information on this from someone who has or knows someone who has gone this route before will be appreciated as i am seriously trying to avoid a repeat CS.

Please assist, thank you all.
Hi, I know how difficult it is to get a VBAC Dr. I used Dr Downey of Richardson Obgyn (Based in Dallas TX ). He has admitting privileges with Methodist Richardson. His fees are 3,2k, Methodist hosp fees are 3,5k. Total is 6,7k. Additional expenses like Paed fees, tests, etc, cost abt 1k. No additional charges, in all we spent 7,7k. He'll do everyth he can 2 ensure u have a VBAC experience. Google RichardsonObygyn and give thm a call. Website enquiries dont work.
