They have no choice than to admit them, most of these people they admitted had 300 and above in jamb, you can't expect the school to deny them admission
Do they have the facilities required to train the number of medical students they admit?. For the JAMB score of a thing, my cousin scored 307 last year and did not get medicine in uniben. If MDCN quoter for the school is 150 then they should admit within the 150 range. The most important thing is using the available resources and facilities to train quality Doctors.

ANASO nice job well be exposing our school, the number 406 is not for medicine alone its for MEDICINE and DENTISTRY AND DENTAL SURGERY medicine is 300+ and Dentistry is 100+, well in case you don't know who is talking it is Doc_frosh Dentistry and dental surgery nice job i am now following your thread I will assist you

The total number of dental students in uniport (year1 to year6) is not up to 100. Uniport doesn't admit up to 20 students a year. UNN administration should reduce the number they admit into medical school, they should fear God oo .

I'm a 500level dentistry student, uniport... Hope I'm welcome here?

Because Pharmacy is a tougher and more demanding course than they are. Ask a sincere doctor and he will assert what I'm saying

Medical and dental students spend 6yrs plus in the university while pharmacy students spend 5yrs.

Medical and dental students in clinical classes don't do semester meaning that they learn throughout the academic session without break only to meet up MDCN requirements to qualify them as doctors. You go on inter semester and session breaks all through ur training and u claim ur course is more demanding?

Medical and dental students write 4-5 MBBS/BDS professional exam which is one of the toughest exams in undergraduate level in Nigerian universities

Oboi, stop placing yourself above others

Education / Re: Best 10 Medical Schools In Nigeria 2019 by Kenule9(m): 11:08am On Aug 25, 2019
This rating is false and baseless. How can a State University Medical school rate higher than a federal university medical school?. The funding, revenue generation, affiliates, affiliations, influence, patronage, equipment standard, number of staffs and specialty is higher in federal universities than in state universities.

This is just like rating a state university ahead of a federal university.

Mikolion87:
This is an overview of courses offered by dental surgery students from first to sixth year (For the newly admitted and Aspirants).

Dental surgery/Dentistry is the only specialty of Medicine which has carved out its own niche, hence candidates begin to specialize in the orofacial region from undergraduate, studying Medicine alongside (together with Medicine students from first to fifth year, then focusing only on the maxillofacial region in sixth year), in Colleges of Medicine in various Universities.

It has been described as the Most strenuous course owing to its dual natured training (Medicine and Dental surgery). At the end they graduate as Doctors and Dental surgeons with a Bachelor in Dental Surgery (BDS).

Many are yet unaware of the demands and intricacies of this course, including some newly admitted dental surgery students. Some think dentists are all about the teeth alone whereas others confuse them with other paramedics or dental auxiliaries (like dental technologists, dental therapists, dental nurses or assistants etc) who are trained in Schools of dental technology, hence the need for this enlightenment.

This enlightenment is for both dental surgery students and aspirants.

-First year:
This is called Pre-Med, as candidates are yet to begin core medical courses. They do basic biological and Physical sciences (Physics, chemistry, Biology, Zoology etc etc). Same courses as Medicine Students.

This post will be centered on the Medical Courses (second to sixth year).

-Second- Third year:

*2nd BDS part B/2ndMBBS courses: Anatomy (Gross Anatomy, Embryology, Histology), Physiology, Medical Biochemistry.

*2nd BDS part A: Oral biology (Oral Anatomy and Oral Physiology).

By the second year, they write their 2nd BDS part A and by the 3rd year they write the 2nd MBBS exam (also called BDS part B) together with Medicine students.

-4th year courses:
*3rd BDS part A/3rd MBBS courses:
.Pharmacology and Therapeutics
. Pathology (Medical Microbiology, Chemical pathology, Hematology, Morbid Anatomy).

At the end they write the 3rd BDS part A/3rd MBBS together with the Medicine students.

*3rd BDS part B courses are as follows:
.Operative techniques
. Prosthetic techniques
. Science of Dental Materials

-5th year:

*They start short postings and lectures in the following Medical and surgical specialties:
Dermatology, ENT (Otorhinolaryngology), Ophthalmology, Anesthesiology, Radiology, Psychiatry and Family Medicine.

*After which they proceed with other postings and Lectures in other specialties in internal Medicine and Surgery.

.Internal Medicine: Cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, Neurology, Nephrology, Respiratory Medicine (pulmonology) and Rheumatology.

.Surgery: General surgery, Orthopedic surgery, Neurosurgery, Cardiothoracic surgery, Plastic surgery and Pediatric surgery.

After this they write the 4th BDS (or 5th MB) exam organized by the Faculty of Medical sciences/Medicine.

Those who survive till this stage are then ushered into the final phase of Dental surgery training with another rigorous Academic bombardments in about ten specialties of Dentistry/Dental surgery.

-6th year:

*5th BDS courses are:
.Oral and maxillofacial surgery
. Oral Pathology
.Oral Medicine
.Prosthetic dentistry (Prosthodontics)
.Restorative dentistry
.Pediatric dentistry (pedodontics)
.Orthodontics
.Periodontology
.Community dentistry
.Oral and maxillofacial radiology

After which they write the 5th BDS exam at the end of the session. Can sometimes take up to 7 years.

Tests will be written per semester on various courses before the Main exams at the end of the session.

Those who pass the final BDS exam are then inducted into the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) as Doctors and Dental surgeons together with their Medical colleagues.

This is a very rigorous training that have had a lot of people thrown out of the Medical school. Only very few end up surviving at the end. But, for the determined, it can be done.

For the Dental surgery students, remain focused, avoid distractions (social media, women etc), work hard and smart, pray too. It can be done.

Aspirants, work hard and smart too, never give up until you get the best out of life.

Which school is this?

Obviously, the schedule is good. Uniport dental school begin dental courses in year5 so dental students end up spending 6yrs 6months in school... 600level is 18months(1yr 6mths).

REASONABLENESS
#Plea For Renovation Of A Primary Health Care In Khana#
This is the state of Primary Health Care Baen in Khana LGA, Rivers State. It may interest you to know that:

1. Staffs of this establishment still earned salary and pension today while they sit at home as a result of the abandonment of the Health Care.

2. Baen is the traditional headquarter of Ken-Khana, KHALGA, Rivers State and her Primary Health Care was the first to be established, since the community centers round other communities in Ken-Khana.

3. People of Baen and other neighbouring communities suffers most of child birth and maternal mortality in Rivers State.

I humbly call on the government of Rivers State to quickly pay urgent attention to the outdated and dilapidated Primary Health Care to stop the rate of maternal mortality in that vicinity.
