Kazikazi:This is a deal under the Northern Corridor Infrastructure Power pool, in which the three heads of state of Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda agreed that the country can start off with 30MW. Transmission will happen through a new high voltage power line that links Kenya and Rwanda. It will run from Olkaria through Uganda to Birembo in Rwanda and will have a capacity of 400 kv. Kenya is currently self-sufficient in power generation after more than 280 MW was added to the grid last year from various geothermal projects in the Rift Valley. http://www.thinkgeoenergy.com/with-surplus-in-power-generation-kenya-is-now-exporting-power-to-uganda/ Following the increasing electricity production from geothermal plants at Olkaria, Kenya will now start to export power to Uganda. Kenyans have been trying to enlighten them on how a country can improve its potential within a span of 15 years without much resource, imagine what Nigeria would achieve with its vast oil reserves. Jonraid:Its great when a country embraces green reliable energy... I feel that Kenya hasnt explored Solar technology to its fullest potential. The North eastern project is really welcome for the region. Will be coming with the pictures very soon. |
rvp20183:Yes... Soroti solar power plant... Uganda and Rwanda are really embracing Solar technology and i would say am really impressed by our Neighbors. I can see a lot of potential in the small countries. Nigeria with all its potential has failed to utilize any of what nature provides. Just imagine a country with water but cannot sustain it for hydro electricity, cannot embrace the sun in solar technology, oil to run electricity generation. What a waste of natures resource. |
