Music/RadioRe: On Psquare And Why Naija Artistes Will Never Break Into US Market. by kernel504(m): 1:11pm On Sep 05, 2014
RedEboe: Till date I have been unable to watch Psquare's Ejeajo music video from begining to end for no other reason than the fact that i find that video/song utterly disgraceful.

Most devoted/diehard Psquare fans feel the same way too, but many will not say a word; some keep on replaying Ejeajo, hoping the song will eventually grow on them...its not happening.

Psquare has released its first major flop and the inclusion of American rapper T.I will not save them this time around.

The Ejeajo song sounded below average, ordinary, nothing catchy, no rhythm and to sum it all up, totally tasteless. It seems as though the sole purpose of this song was just to feature T.I and break into the American market.

I can bet my very last kobo that any American (Black) who's opportuned to watch Ejeajo video will laugh off his seat saying, "Who are these African booty scratchers trying too hard to sound like us and dance better than Usher?"
I felt the same way watching Peter Okoye putting in so much "gra gra" into his dance moves.

But on a serious note, about Nigerian artistes wanting to break into the American market; do these Nigerian artistes think that the Jay Zs, P Diddys and Dr Dre's will sit back and watch Nigerian music break into US Hip hop market? Especially in an America where music and sports are the few things black Americans can really hold on to. So they (Black American artistes) will allow some black African musician to come in and steal their domestic market share?

Nigerian music is already big in many African countries like Kenya,Zambia,Ghana and even South Africa. Do we think indigenous artistes and music promoters in these African countries are happy with Nigerians dominating their respective music scenes?

Why will Black Americans not stay proactive and stop Nigerian music from gaining foothold in their market?

Now here's the truth, someone should tell Psquare that its time to go back to the drawing board and re-invent themselves. I don't know the duo's football age but i'm guessing they are in their mid thirties. When dancing musicians start growing older or maturing, they concentrate more on the quality of their music, where more matured dance steps are incorporated. 'Matured dance steps' here simply means slow but sleeker dance moves, just like USHER in GOOD KISSER. And definitely not the 'gra gra' Peter Okoye was showcasing in Ejeajo, epecially to a lousy song.

I think it's time the Okoye twins take a break from music for some time; perhaps they can go concentrate on their respective marriages or try to mentor younger musicians with the ability to sing and dance.

After a few years, Psquare can return with a new style and sound.

For now,Psquare has lost it and i hope their closest fans and admirers tell them this truth before it's too late.

Remember Dbanj?
You have a point, but then remember "No venture, No success".
And it doesn't mean they're failure, is called "attempt".They still remain champion coming all the way from Africa.

Those housing estates commissioned, bridges constructed etc were not built by spending stones but money.

Daily running of lagos alone consume a lot of money.

Of course we still have many complains, we expect them (apc) to perform better. They should borrow big money to pursue their programmes.
I guess you don't seen to know the amount of money in question.
Lagos state cannot pay that money in full within the space of 7 years even if she stops every recurrent and capital expenditure.
We are talking of billions of dollars not Naira, please multiply $1 billion against 170 places.
Lagos could only generate N263 billion last year.

And I don't remember where I mentioned APC nor PDP here. Is Kaduna state a APC state? Then about the figures, whether IGR is N237billion, or N450billion, its clear they have revenue potential. But my own state just zoomed to N6b/month from N730m from last administration. So our Governor can borrow more money because of its increased revenue! So read my comment very well. Thanks.
I don't play party politics,ok? Multiply N6 billion into 12 places, it doesn't come near $2.6 dollars, which runs into trillion naira.

olushowunm: Most people here are getting the news wrong. First, for Lagos, its an healthy loan, because Lagos currently have over N450billion ($2.8125billion) which is healthy. Do most people compare Lagos to Plateau, they are not the same pedestal as Lagos is thirsty for growth and also with huge revenue potential. Do you expect a place like plateau waiting for federal allocation and some meagre IGR from Nabisco and Grand Cereals to take $1b debt? Who will give them? Not in this world!
Common sense, why will the state worth $450 billion, go borrow $2.8 billion, when non of them is interest free.
I don't like getting involved when it comes to partisan politics, but truly APC states got it all wrong.
Secondly, I don't think you understand the meaning of $450 billion, not even Nigerian annual budget is upto that amount, please correct yourself, thanks.

N O T E: Lagos state generated N237 billion not dollars last year, not even N450 billion, check lagos state official site.

Israel says Hamas 'hit hard' in Gaza fighting
PM Netanyahu speaks about truce amid criticism at home that offensive has done little to rein in Palestinian group.
Last updated:28 Aug 2014 11:27

Israel has made its first official statement over the ceasefire it signed with Hamas, saying the Palestinian group that runs Gaza has been dealt a major blow and that it did not receive any of the demands it had made.
In comments delivered in a prime-time address on national television, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday said that "Hamas was hit hard," adding that Israel "didn't agree to accept any of Hamas' demands" under the Egyptian-brokered ceasefire deal.
"The ceasefire was achieved without any of the terms being given," Netanyahu said, before reeling off key demands Hamas had made but were not accepted, including reopening the seaport and airport and removing restrictions on the movement of the people of Gaza.
He said tunnels and the infrastructure Hamas had built over the years had been destroyed and that ground forces were deployed for that reason, adding that Israeli forces had been withdrawn to prevent kidnapping by Hamas fighters.
Netanyahu's comments came amid criticism over his handling of the seven-week military operation that has killed more than 2,200 people. Israel lost 64 soldiers and six civilians.
Both hard-liners in his governing coalition, as well as residents of rocket-scarred southern Israel, have said the war was a failure because it did not halt Hamas' rocket attacks or remove the group from power.
The ambiguous ceasefire delivered an immediate halt in the fighting and has promised an easing of Israel's blockade of Gaza to allow humanitarian aid and construction goods to enter for the rebuilding of the territory.
All goods are to go in under international supervision.
Israeli blockade
Hamas' key demands are only to be addressed in a future round of talks expected next month in Cairo, the Associated Press news agency said.
It is seeking an end to the Israeli blockade, including the reopening of Gaza's sea and airport. It also wants Egypt to reopen its Rafah border crossing, the territory's main gateway to the outside world. Israel, meanwhile, wants Hamas to be disarmed.

SirShymex: See the problems with most of us is that: we've been indoctrinated with so much bias, and we do everything based on the ideology/thought-process that we align with, and when we ought to make logical statements - we let our innate bias take over our thought-process. And more time, we do everything based on the "enemy of my enemy is my friend" without any objectivity.

It's one thing to have a right to defend yourself, and it's another thing to be an aggressor and an apartheid regime, that loves killing a small fly with a sledge hammer - just to prove an inconsequential point.

If Israeli had stayed within the territory that was assigned to it in 1948 - and allowed the Palestinians to have their country. That place would've been peaceful. However, it has blocked every effort for a Palestinian state - and Israel itself created Hamas in Gaza for divide and conquer against Arafat and the PLO in west bank. So must the innocent Palestinians suffer for the monster Israel created? Why has Israel refused to go back to its real borders, but rather than do that, it keeps building settlements all over Palestinian lands? And why's Israel blocking all efforts for a Palestinian state?

Also, isn't Israel the same country that used to invade Lebanon all the time, till Hezbollah was created to stand against its aggression? Yet most of you act like Israeli's aren't the perpetual aggressors in that axis

SirShymex: You don't judge the winner of a war/confrontation between countries based on casualties, especially when one has an overwhelming superiority when it comes to firepower, and the other has no army. You do so based on achieving the objectives it set out to achieve. If judging based on casualties were the yardstick to judge winners - then the Soviets who lost 20 million souls during world war 2 should have been the losers of that war, but everyone believes they defeated the Nazi's. Also, US should have be the winner of its wars against Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan - but that wasn't the case.

Yes, Israel destroyed the little infrastructures in Gaza, and killed thousands of defenseless innocent people, including women and children. However, did it achieve anything? - absolutely not. The tunnels are still there. Hamas still have the capabilities to shoot rockets at Israel. But it has managed to ostracise itself with the adventure and PR, with most people around the world supporting the Palestinians. When the negotiations are completed - it will end up removing the over three decades of blockade it has over Gaza.

There's no winner - both sides lost. And where is your sense of humanity by celebrating the brutal deaths of innocent children just to make a point?
We should direct this question to Hamas, when they are using children and woman as human shield.
