Some aggrieved women in the Uba-Oka Akoko community in Akoko South West Local Government Area of Ondo State have staged a peaceful protest to condemn the incessant killings by suspected Herdsmen in the area, calling on the government to salvage them from the invaders.

Their clamour follows the recent murder of a farmer called Sunday Ayeni on his farm in the community.

The corpse of Ayeni was found on his farm, with machete wounds and his intestines exposed, indicating that he was brutally stabbed to death by his attackers.

The incident occurred just a few days after the deceased received monetary compensation for his farm, which was destroyed by cows allegedly belonging to herdsmen in the area.

A resident of the community who preferred anonymity revealed that Ayeni’s farm was destroyed by herdsmen last week. However, the situation was resolved by security agents and community elders, who intervened and facilitated the payment of an undisclosed amount of money as compensation to Ayeni by the herdsmen.

During the protest, the women, who were half-naked and without head ties, trekked to the palace of the traditional ruler of Oka Akoko, Oba Adebori Adeleye, chanting various solidarity songs.

The protesters also accuse the Herdsmen of raping women on their farmlands and destroying their crops.

Speaking on behalf of the protesting women, Abigail Ojo narrated their ordeal, stating that they had practically abandoned their farms due to fear of being attacked by the Herdsmen.

Ojo stated thus“We call on security agencies to help find lasting solutions to our problems. We are protesting to let the government know our plight.”

The Public Relations Officer of Ondo State Police Command, SP ‘Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya in her reaction to the development stated that police investigations have since commenced on the killings, expressing hope that the perpetrators would soon be apprehended and brought to justice.

The Core North should rest. This is not 2015 that the SS & SE supported Jonathan wholeheartedly. Since we all know now that the core North of Hausa/Fulani are only willing to Support Jonathan because Tinubu is dealing with them very well. So they want a weakling like Jonathan who will do their bidding.
Whether the core North like it or yes, Tinubu will complete his 8 years.
Come 2027, the SS & SE will give Tinubu 90% support.

Politicsjudiciary destroyed 2023 election in Nigeria – Sam Amadi by KEVIND(op): 12:41pm On Aug 09, 2024
INEC, Judiciary Destroyed 2023 Election in Nigeria; I'm Ashamed to Have PhD in Law — Sam Amadi

“Bribe INEC, Bribe Judiciary, Commandeer the Security and you are done. I hold INEC responsible and I hold Judiciary responsible for the failure of elections.”

The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thoughts, Sam Amadi, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, and the judiciary of destroying the 2023 general election in Nigeria.

Amadi, also a former Executive Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission, NERC, decried the political strategy in Nigeria, which he said is all about bribing INEC, judiciary, and the security.

In a video sighted by DAILY POST on Friday, the ex-NERC boss averred that when an agency created under the law, with enabling act, make rules, those rules become law.

Amadi stressed that such an agency can only unmake it through rule making process, if not it will be bound to obey it.

“Let me say this, and I’m going to be very clear. In every country, election is one of the strategies. So in US today you see the policy people thinking around, mapping constituencies.

“In Nigeria as well, election is one of the strategies. And the strategy in Nigeria is very simple: bribe INEC, bribe the judiciary, and come and dear the security and you are done.

“The people that destroyed 2023 election is INEC and judiciary. The rules were clear. The electoral act isn’t perfect but it is very clear.

“I’m surprised that any judge who understands administrative law, which I have taught in the university for many years, which I studied under the best in world, would argue that an internal regulation built on law and an act, a regulation directing that you will do an ‘X’ you can choose to do ‘Y’, when there’s legitimate expectation and detrimental reliance. INEC was totally wrong. And the courts – Supreme Court downwards got it wrong.

“When an agency created under the law with enabling act, and the constitution says you can make rules, those rules are law. They can unmake it through rule making process. If they don’t, they are bound to obey it.

“Results should have been transmitted electronically. I am ashamed. I have a PhD in law. I can stand anywhere in the world to dispute with the brightest. I am ashamed that the court affirmed that INEC could just walk away from the law,” he said.

Anambra basin holds 30tn cubic feet untapped oil, gas — Geologist, Mode

A renowned geologist and former professorial chair of the Petroleum Trust Development Fund at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Prof. Ayonma Mode, has made a groundbreaking revelation about oil and gas reserves in the Anambra basin.

Mode revealed that the South-Eastern inland sedimentary basins, specifically the Anambra basin, hold an astonishing 30 trillion cubic feet of untapped oil and gas reserves.

This discovery underscores the immense potential for exploration and extraction in the region, which could significantly impact Nigeria’s energy landscape.

Mode disclosed this on Saturday while speaking on the topic ‘Synoptic Overview of the Hydrocarbon Potential in South-Eastern Nigeria Inland Sedimentary Basins,’ during a ceremony marking the completion of his tenure as PTDF professorial chair in UNN.

Expressing concern that since the discovery of oil in the Niger Delta, much attention had not been given to the South-Eastern inland basins, Mode said, “There is up to 30 trillion cubic of oil and gas in Anambra basin alone.

“The government should give more attention to these unexplored basins to increase the country’s oil and gas reserve.”

Mode urged his successor to consolidate his research on South-Eastern sedimentary inland basins as well as the Niger Delta.

He added, “As I bow out after my tenure of PTDF professorial chair in UNN, I desire that my successor will consolidate on my research in South-Eastern inland basins and Niger Delta.”

The Executive Secretary of PTDF, Mr. Ahmed Aminu, reaffirmed the organisation’s commitment to promoting quality research in the oil and gas sector through the establishment of professional chairs in universities.

Aminu highlighted the fund’s three core mandates: human capacity development, institutional capacity development, and the acquisition of research and relevant developments in oil and gas.

PoliticsIts time To Probe Ourselves As North After Blaming Other Regions – Shehu Sani by KEVIND(op): 1:08pm On Aug 04, 2024
It’s time to probe ourselves as northerners, after blaming other regions – Shehu Sani

Former Senator representing Kaduna North Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has said it’s time for northerners to look at themselves instead of blaming other regions.

Sani, who wrote on his verified Facebook page on Sunday, lamented that most public schools are free, yet our young ones still don’t want to go to school.

He said, “Many of us don’t want our spouses to work or use their skills or talents to earn a living or contribute to the family. When we die, we leave them as helpless widows at the mercy of a hostile society.

“Most young people don’t want to serve as apprentices in workshops or retail outlets because they lack the heart and patience to serve.

“Many parents in rural areas hand over their children to a religious teacher in the city, who depends on the children to beg or steal in order to feed himself and his family. For ethnic, religious, and sectional reasons, we have protected, defended, praised, and refused to hold accountable all our kinsmen who led the country at every wasted opportunity for five decades.

“The bandits and terrorists who kill and kidnap our people, deny our farmers access to their farms, and prevent our children from going to school are not from any foreign country or from the south; they come from our homes and families up north. We worship with them in the same mosque. We used to live together as one region in peace, brotherhood, and love, but then we divided and began to hate ourselves along religious lines.

“We don’t vote for people who will serve us; we vote for those who will provide us with spaghetti and grains. We concoct and spread all sorts of religiously inclined conspiracies to deny our children free health immunization against diseases, resulting in hundreds of thousands of blind, lame, crippled, and deaf children who grow up as victims of polio, glaucoma, or leprosy, begging in northern and southern cities. Many of our women and girls don’t have a business capital of 100k but own an iPhone worth N1.5m. They don’t have capital of 100k but can ‘struggle’ to meet up with a wedding asoebi of 500k.

“We deny most of our girls the right to go beyond secondary school due to negative perceptions about higher education. We don’t want our female children to wear uniforms. Whenever recruitment portals for the Army, Police, Customs, Immigration, and Civil Defence open, we don’t want our female wards to apply.

“When our children graduate from universities, especially public universities, most of the parents who attend to celebrate and appreciate their children are from the southern regions. Most of our industries and factories in Kano, Kaduna, and Jos have since closed down when our kinsmen were in power. Our farmers in rural areas are still farming with hoes throughout the period our kinsmen were in power. The groundnut and cotton pyramids disappeared long ago when our kinsmen were at the helm.

“All the spare parts, building materials, and pharmaceutical stores in the north are private businesses owned by people from other regions who were not backed, funded, or supported by any government. When our kinsmen were in power, we attributed our poverty and insecurity to God and to our sins; when our kinsmen are out of power, we attribute our sufferings to the King.

“The FCT is in the north. Can anyone explain why people from the region couldn’t dominate the private businesses in the FCT, Suleja, and Mararaba? Who should be blamed for this?

“God gave us the largest land mass, the largest number of people, most of the rivers, and resources and livestock, and gave us power for the most part of our history. Which of the favours of our Lord can we deny? The North; eighty percent of our problems are ourselves and not anyone ‘outside of ourselves.’”

Tb Joshua Prophecy About 2024 Protest

TB Joshua, a prominent Nigerian pastor, delivered
a prophecy in 2013 about an impending revolution in Nigeria. He foresaw people taking to the streets, leading to significant unrest. He urged the nation to pray to avert the crisis. This prophecy gained attention again during the EndSARS protests, where many saw parallels to his warnings about social upheaval and calls for change.
