make it illegal like those selling hard drugs. Let the general public be aware. Only banks should be mandated to sell or buy the dollars.
Lol..they already made it illegal about 2 to 3 years ago. It's not working.

Hope the foolish students understand that beating their teacher won't make the one caught cheating pass? If they are lucky they would repeat the class else they'll definitely be expelled!

Career / Re: Student: I Can Earn over 200K As An Entry Level Civil Servant in Nigeria by kevoh(m): 5:54pm On Jul 03, 2023
Graduates, be ready to earn less than 70k per month if you find yourself in a ministry or government agency. 70k is the best you will earn. This counts for about 40% of the civil service workforce (minus state, those ones are earning worse)

On the other hand, many MDAs, let's call them Tier 3, will pay you 70k to 110k as entry level. Tier 3 Counts for about 20% of the workforce. This used to be for those with not much connection but these days, even those with high connection are scrambling for these low paid ones.

Tier 2 MDAs can start from 150k to 200k. These ones are like 10% and are already saturated! Your connection has to be super strong.

Tier 1 MDAs never disclose their salary, you won't even know they exist. Just one obscure agency that is not oil based like NNPC but still taking home more up to 400k per month as entry.

However, just pray to get a better agency as it's not often about the salary. Some agencies pay 70k but have mouth watering allowances!

Phones / Re: Twitter Limits The Number Of Posts Users Can Read Per Day by kevoh(m): 8:38pm On Jul 01, 2023
Offpoint1:

I wanted to ask who's jobless enough to read even 500 tweet in a day.
You'd consume 600 tweets in 5 mins. The way twitter is built everything you do, intentionally or unintentionally, counts as a tweet.
- You open twitter app even without reading, that's already ten tweets appearing as read.
- Twitter loading up to 200 new tweets at once on your timeline, that's 200 tweets read as far as twitter is concerned, whether you scroll by, read the tweets or do nothing!
See a better explanation in the picture below!

those who paid to be verified didn’t pay because they want to read other people’s tweets. They paid because they want their own ‘authentic ‘ tweet to be read by others.
Except you are talking about the golden tick verification, every other person who has paid $8 for blue tick verification is going to get "rate limited". And yes, blue tick verified also scroll through read other people's post!
They are already complaining on that Elon Musk's tweet.

Can you really read more than 6000 tweets daily?
Don't have to read. Just scrolling by unimportant tweets on your timeline, your tweet counter starts counting.

600 post a day is huge, wt hell are people even doing on twitter full day?
Not huge. 600 posts include posts that appear on your timeline, that you didn't even view and you just scroll by. E.G It took 4 posts to scroll down to your comment here, yours being the 5th. Yet, your comment is the only one I was interested in and actually read.

Not true! Abuja truly has the traffic! I'm there 5 days a week. The politicians rarely fly commercial airlines but private ones which were not figured in the data! However, Abuja is not close to Lagos when it comes to international flights!

tete7000:

But the scarcity can continue when the fuel is smuggle out to Benin Republic
Fuel scarcity in Nigeria is hardly a function of smuggled fuel, rather, a reaction of marketers to any slight price increase. Besides, filling stations in Benin are already selling for almost the equivalent of #800, it will make no sense to buy smuggled fuel at same price

tete7000:
The price differential even without subsidy will still make it attractive to smuggle to Benin Republic. We will be buying at 500+, they buy theirs at 800+
As long as it's not been subsidized by our Federal Government, they can buy as much as they can.

This is pure propaganda

How is these products finding their way to those countries. No one have been sacked for not doing his job in securing our borders or arrested by the security agencies for smuggling
This has nothing to do with propaganda. I have witnessed that of Benin Republic way back in 2012 even to the smallest level of loading motorbikes built specially to carry minimum 200 litres. It's not just Benin. Other border towns in Niger, Cameroon etc. are also huge beneficiaries of smuggled subsidized Nigerian fuel.

If you had strolled to border towns before now, you would have witnessed this first hand!

Politics / Re: May 29: Remove Your Aircraft From Abuja Airport, FAAN Orders Airlines by kevoh(m): 8:32am On May 10, 2023
News is not clear! General Aviation Terminal at Abuja is actually where the private aircrafts are often parked. On any given day at the airport, you will never find Air peace, Dana, Arik Air or any commercial airline parked here. What you will find are just private jets and other private airlines. Some have not even flown for weeks, just parked right there.

In conclusion, I doubt this directive concerns Airpeace and the rest but expect heavy road traffic to the Airport that day!

Where did it happen?
Same news, different location (Kenya). This one even specifies type of acid!

https://www.google.com/amp/s/ke.opera.news/ke/en/economy-finance/amp/117497c2a30eadaf1e91b0972b4af1be#bsht=CgRmYnNtEgQIAzAC

Location is not even the bone of contention here. The pouring of acid on the bowl of groundnuts makes no logical sense just because the title says so. Acid will even disintegrate the groundnut!

Just because someone slaps a title to a video doesn't mean I will have to think along the same line! Something else might be going on in the video other than what the title insinuates.

Except the man plans to sell a cup of "acidified" groundnuts for a premium price of $100 or more, I fail to see the logic of pouring so called acid in the groundnut as against conventional method of roasting or boiling them.

And no, this did not happen in Nigeria either!

A Ghanaian is complaining about the high rise in foodstuffs prices after buying six seeds of tomatoes for 10 Ghana cedis (N380).

According to him the tomatoes he bought for 10 Ghana cedis (380) were sold for 5 Ghana cedis (N190) a few weeks ago.

Add four zeros that was removed during the redenomination exercise in 2007 to get the true value of cedis used in purchasing 6 measly tomatoes!

If someone has HND, but was given appointment with ND in the civil service. Is there any chances of being upgraded with the HND after confirmation? If possible, what is the process.

Thank u sir.
That's a tough one. Better to get the appointment with HND because they will not regard it except you get another civil service job with your HND or you apply to school while working with ND. Whatever the case try and get your BSC!

What options are available for me to get the money using black market rate instead. Thanks in advance

ForG:

Just got the gen yesterday, can't get new one because we have no light where I stay.
I need a gen I could run for hours on just fan and laptop.

What I did it was to run it at low choke until the voltmeter settled at 100V-150V.

On full choke the, voltmeter was reading above 300V.

Does this solve this?
Our standard voltage in Nigeria is 220 V at 50 Hz. Lesser voltage means lesser current running through Ur appliance(bulb burns dimly) and higher voltage means higher current (bulb burns brightly and burst if too much)

Problem is the choke is meant to regulate air inflow so that the rich fuel+air mixture burns properly when cool till the engine is warm, then it has to be returned. i.e more fuel needed when you start the gen. My best guess is that not returning the choke to normal position will only let your fuel burn fast, aside that, I can't think of any other harm that may arise.

Family / Re: All My Appliances Are Blowing Up (PIC) Please Help. by kevoh(m): 6:33am On Mar 26, 2023
This gen does not have an inbuilt voltage regulator! A voltage regulator is what we call stabilizer in layman's language. It helps to keep the fluctuating power under normal voltage and your appliances working under normal voltage. Without it, sudden high voltages from your gen will damage your appliances. And trust me this "I-pass-my-neighbour" is a master of producing fluctuations from very high to low.

Even that screw you are looking for to tighten will disappoint you. If you can save, save up to buy a better TEC gen or any gen with in-built stabilizer.

If you don't have money to save for a better gen with voltage regulator, try balancing your load when you put on the gen. You do this by running ceiling fan, 100 watts bulb or any appliances that consume power. Do this first before rushing to plug laptop or phone chargers! Never plug your low wattage appliances first to your I-pass-my-neighbour gen!
