Annael:Don't tell me it was in 2017 when Kenyan doctors were on strike and the government threatened to import 5,000 doctors from Tanzania and Uganda. I'm sure this is your "proofs" |
Annael:of course you will use 2017 an election year in Kenya as the yardstick. Silly me why did I think otherwise. I'm clearly talking to a wall. |
Annael: ![]() definitely lies. this are some of the errors of Tanzanian government lies. they are very visible. I can guarantee you that the same people who visit Tanzania start their journies in Kenya, and will definitely end their journies the same route. Hell even if I went to zanzibar and I'm flying back to America or Europe very high chance I would transit through jkia. |
Annael:How is Tanzania ahead of Kenya in tourism?? Kenya has more bed space(hotels) Kenya has more tourists numbers Kenya has more international airlines serving it than Tanzania With all this it simply means Kenya has more people employed in the tourism sector than Tanzania..simple logic. Break it down to me how Tanzania is ahead. |
Annael:Do facts not matter anymore are we just typing because we have fingers? In that case kenya went to the moon before everyone else. Hell I'm typing this from mars. |
Annael:Brazil, Philippines, India,Thailand, Argentina, Colombia and Mexico all have high levels of corruption. Their tourism sectors makes ours look like a joke despite the corruption. Kenya has way more FDI than any other country in East and Central Africa despite leading all countries in Corruption, so yes clearly people are still investing in corrupt countries. Next |
Kazikazi:You are correct on that. I give Tanzania the edge on the mining sector. But tell me all countries that mine have towns and cities built or around those areas where minerals are found and infrastructure to show for this. is this the same in Tanzania? |
vaxx:You are right. I was looking at it from a tourists angle not a resident. perhaps I need to do more research on this. |
Annael:So now it is strategy again not numbers okay!! you started off by saying Tanzania has overtaken Kenya and I asked you to kindly show me what sector? Clearly tourism Kenya is ahead then. |
rvp20182:Yes this is very true whenever I'm doing a project in Tanzania the kenyans working there never have work permits, they all use tourist visas or bribe their way. |
VicThory:False!! |
vaxx:Same with ivory coast. The French looked at it as an alternate Headquarters of francophone Africa because Senegal was too religious (islam) ivory coast was liberal and the first president Felix Houphouet was very pro french. They built institutions for ivory coast that are still visible today. Hell at some point in the eighties and nineties Abidjan was called Paris in Africa. I would still rank ivory coast ahead of Senegal. |
Kazikazi:Thank you. The workers were 100, 30 in house and 70 commute daily. I would prefer to not name the hotel for obvious reasons. the local market area is called mafarasini. Kenyans were 11 in number heading I.T, Accounts, Procurement, storekeeping and Maintenance. the general manager was from the UK |
Austine1212:The source is me. I have had the privilege of visiting both countries. ![]() |
Annael:Yes this was as I said an election year 2018 they are posting the results of 2017 travel and tourism come on you should know this |
Annael:You are correct about political stability Tanzania has the edge over Kenya, Hell Tanzania has the edge over most countries in Africa in that however I as an investor will choose where I will make more money. Kenya has higher tourists numbers than Tanzania, 2017 and 2013 Tanzania received more tourists than kenya, this were election years. Tanzania has more tourists attractions than kenya but kenya has more hotels what does this mean for an investor? I can guarantee you nearly all four and five star hotels in Tanzania you will find kenyan employees in most of the white collar jobs and they will also be the heads in the blue collar jobs |
Kazikazi:Tanzania is not ahead of Kenya in tourism never has been. Tanzania gets more tourists during election years in Kenya only, 2017 being a prime example. Kenya has more hotels than Tanzania, Kenya has an airport that is well serviced by all major world airlines and local ones too. Tanzania doesn't have this. Kenya has an existence of high domestic tourism and better rates for locals during off peak season. Tanzania doesn't. I was doing a project in a hotel in Zanzibar February of this year in kiwengwa. The hotel was at capacity. majority of occupants were foreigners. All African guests were Kenyans. In the same Hotel the in house nurse, engineer, accountant and storekeepers were all kenyans despite being an international chain of hotels what does that tell you? |
Annael:Get me right. Why would I as an investor worth 100mn usd put my money in Tanzania over Kenya? name any sector one would do that. |
rvp20182:Agreed. with COVID 19 he is playing politics remember it is an election year. Corona was threatening to undo all the propaganda he had done in the last five years. |
Austine1212:I don't need to. it's common knowledge. Take Gabon for instance low population, availability of minerals. But poor infrastructure outside the capital Libreville. Poor investment in health poor investment in education capture of state wealth by certain families and of course France Non existent manufacturing sector, everything is imported from France which makes life really expensive for it's citizens Non existent Agricultural sector despite being in arguably the best region in Africa with enough rainfall. lack of information and transparency in Government. Repeat this in all francophone countries and you will understand why Tanzania is waaaaay ahead of them. |
Annael: ![]() Okay..in what sector is Tanzania ahead of Kenya? as in me as investor X tell me why I should put my money in Tanzania over Kenya? |
rvp20182:Magufuli despite his antics and authoritarianism has Tanzanian interests at heart although he also swims in the ignorance and fear the people of Tanzania have. |
Austine1212:Ivory coast is somewhat okay save for the fighting they would have been ahead of many countries in Africa. Senegal,Gabon and any other francophone speaking African countries are nowhere near Tanzania that I can attest to. Fyi I'm not Tanzanian |
Austine1212:Hehehe now now it's not fair to put Tanzania with any francophone speaking country in SSA, they are ahead of all of them. |
Austine1212:What qualifies a language as international? A language that is spoken beyond one border. By that swahili has already succeeded in being international it has crossed oceans. No other African language has done this. Swahili has Arabic, Indian and Portuguese influences yes but it's majorly 98% kingozi a bantu language and that makes it African |
Austine1212: ![]() you are yet to learn Tanzanians. They will repeat everything their government tells them even in the face of glaring evidence that it's false. |
Austine1212:Swahili is spoken in Oman as a second language by over 50% of the people. In Yemen the southern part speaks swahili as well. Comoros speaks some variation of swahili and yes Swahili is ranked as an international language. It is the most widely spoken indigenous African language. |

This is so beautiful. I'm guessing it's beach front? like Brazil where people can skate? south Africa is centuries ahead when it comes to infrastructure development on the continent. |
samorobo:Nobody is underestimating port Louis it is a very good city. But based on livability by his indexes Victoria in Seychelles is even better. Windhoek is also up there. He is using Mercer as his argument reference, which is wrong. Mercer ranks cities according to livability in this you will find small cities outperform big cities like new York and London simple logic but in terms of tangible development, abeg shift joor |
samorobo:Going by his logic I would choose Victoria over port Louis even. |
jln115:Ha port Louis is the most developed city in Africa?? clearly you are on nyaope |
samorobo:If you bother to do some research on who you are engaging, you will see we are two extremely different people, from different parts of our beautiful continent. But because you are interested in sideshows you are now finding something to detract this debate..I know your type ![]() |
